good morning - am imagining smee in her paper knickers - good luck smee !

Hugs for gig - night times are bleak and scary when you're awake with your thoughts - hope you can rest and relax a bit today.

Morning All

Snazzy paper pants time for Smee
Hope all goes smoothly for you today .

Morning Gig
What are you up to today ?

Anyone have any plans for the Bank Holiday weekend ?
I had thought DH would be working (he normally works them all) but he informs me he is off . So if the weather is nice enough we will drive to a beach somewhere with a picnic .
I love being on the coast . Not seasidey towns . But rural coastal areas .
I can't wait till August when we go on our hols . For the past few years we have rented the same cottage in an extremely rural area of the west of Ireland . It is right on the beach , and it's my favourite place in the world to be .

Enough rambling , on with your day people !

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/05/2012 08:21

sounds lovely topsy - am very fond of the coast-used to holiday in a cottage on the coast path in Dorset-wonderful. My aunt and cousin are coming to stay locally -in a cottage- they do this every year to see mum and visit their middle sister-so I imagine we'll do something with them. Lunch anyway on Sunday.
Am going to work hard today- not give in to trying to clean.

Morning all - any Brew still on the go? Got cinnamon bagels with DMum's homemade quince jam if anyone wants one?

gig thinking of you this morning - so glad that you and DH have had a good chat. Keep taking, and you can support each other. Sending you loads of strength and brave vibes to keep you going through today x x x

Holiday cottage sounds great topsy we have booked an apartment in a converted mansion for a week in August, close to beaches, lots of lovely Devon countryside and fishing for DH. Can't wait!

smee lots of luck for the op today - have fun with the paper pants! Hope all goes well and that you might get home tonight x x x

DMum coming today to take me to my first injecting appointment. Hoping to learn to do them myself, to save hassle.

Not much planned for bank holiday weekend - car boot sale at DSs school on Saturday morning, and work on from there. . .

sending big hugs and love to all today x x x x.

topsyturner · 03/05/2012 08:39

Mas you are here by warned to stay away from the cleaning materials ! (if only it were that easy eh ?)
Sounds like a nice weekend .
Did dad get back from London safely ?

topsyturner · 03/05/2012 08:41

What are you injecting Ned ?

Gigondas · 03/05/2012 08:52

Thanks for lovely vibes. Feeling very low but have to go out to see nutritionist and for rads (Hardly seems worth it). Also meeting my sis. Can't sleep, think straight and throw up anything I try to eat. Need to
Try and get my robustness back Sad

This feels worse than when first dx

topsyturner · 03/05/2012 09:03

Are you on any anti ds Gig ?
I don't want to be pushing drugs on people , but if ever you were going to need a little help balancing out , now is the time .

Yes it is worth it to carry on with your treatment plan .
At the moment you are (very naturally) feeling floored and wondering what the point is .
Turn around and look at your family , they are the point .
(((((hugs)))))

amberlight · 03/05/2012 09:05

Morning all! Who's snaffled all the baked goods!! Shock Hmm

Gracie, no data on whether 8 FEC is better than 4 FEC and 4 Tax. I tend to go with the theory that it takes four sorts of chemo to bash it properly if it's a tricky sort like mine (HER2+) but Tax can be a s*d so some oncologists prefer to avoid it.

Gigondas · 03/05/2012 09:11

Thanks for pep talk topsy. I know you are right.
Have new jeans on and am going to put on some lippy and get out there.

topsyturner · 03/05/2012 09:17

Doesn't mean you are not allowed to feel sad gig .
You have to almost mourn what might have been , before you can get on with what you now have .
New jeans and a bit of lippy are a good start Smile

Amber Blush sorry about the baked goods ...

Sometimesiwonder · 03/05/2012 09:45

Gig - it is definitely worth going to the rads appointment. You know that really - every cell zapped is worth it. Great pep talk from Topsy - and, I have to say, a great comeback from you, Gig. That's the spirit!

Poor junior sparkles - hope he is better today, love.

I hope you can see me waving and wishing you all the best, Smee. How lovely to be getting pert new boobs Smile

On the BH weekend front - I am taking dh away to Dorset. He was 50 last weekend Shock How the hell did we get so old? Now it just needs to stop bloody raining! I hope you enjoy your weekend Topsy, it sounds lovely.

Just had a phone call from surgeon's secretary - back op date is 16th May. Ie the week after next. Gulp! Not feeling sorry for myself, I know it is a positive thing in the long run, but just feeling a bit 'on the back foot'.

Now, I am going to scatter chocolate cake, and leave before the scrum.....

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/05/2012 10:04

lippy and new jeans sound good gig and going to rads very much worth it- just hang on in there.
Oh that;s soon sometimes ! but it'll be great to have it done.
How is junior sparkle ?
Have just done my usual bit of bathroom cleaning and will get the kitchen bits done and try to limit myself to just wiping vaguely in the boy's room. Then work !
Baked goods -yum- shall I add maple pecan danishes ?

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 03/05/2012 10:17

Maple pecan danishes sound fab mas don't mind if I do, especially as topsy scoffed the rest Hmm. I'll pop some M&S Extremely Chocolatey Roll on the trolley for later.

Not too long to wait for your op sometimes but that's good, less time to think about it.

gigs was thinking about you last night. You know you have to continue with your treatment, your onc will be working hard to get your plan sorted. Keeping talking to DH. DH and I have had some long heart to hearts and it helps to get it all out.

Out to meet a couple of friends from work for coffee today - I've never been so popular Smile

smee hope you don't have too long to sit around in your paper pants.

SparkleRainbow · 03/05/2012 10:41

Flying in, have spent some time catching up, and particularly wanted to give Gig a big hug ((((((Gig)))))). I am glad you and dh are talking and also gald to hear about lippy and new jeans.

Hi Snoopy - and I am glad you have found the wonderful ladies here, I know they can help.

Topsy - I think a nice picnic by the sea would be a wonderful thing to do, so here I am hoping the weather is fine.

Waves to RWU - lovely to see you again, and for you share your story.... I think of you every time I watch my dd1 riding, I seem to remember you falling off and into a hedge....mid treatment ....

Quick ds update, being discharged, pain levels down to levels which I can manage for him at home. Slow road to recovery now, over next few weeks, but he will get there. I am hoping to be able t get him back to school, even if it is for short days, by Tuesday, he copes better when he is occupied.
Also pirate dog looking good.

Sometimesiwonder · 03/05/2012 11:11

Positive news Sparkles. Brave little chap.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/05/2012 11:13

ah bless him sparkle and strokes for pirate dog...
Abbreviated cleaning done..am off to work..

OP posts:
topsyturner · 03/05/2012 11:35

Well done mas for managing to abbreviate the cleaning !

Sparkle glad to hear mini sparkles is being sprung , am sure he will get better quicker if he's at home .

topsyturner · 03/05/2012 14:15

Phew .
Just completed my cleaning , could have done with a little mas help Grin

Picking up DD and her friend from school in 1/2 an hour , and we are making choc chip cookies this afternoon .
So warm cookies on the fbs trolley later , I promise I shall make them wash their hands do we get no interesting added ingredients ...

SparkleRainbow · 03/05/2012 14:27
Grin
NedSchneebly · 03/05/2012 15:02

Glad to hear you managed to truncate the cleaning MAS - good work, that woman!

topsy I am having daily bone marrow stimulating injections, between day 4 and day 11 on the Tax. Apparently reasonably standard, so you'll probably get them too? Turns out pretty easy to do, so should be OK to do the rest on my own, I think! Some aches and pains in my legs and hips, but nothing unbearable.

gig Topsy speaketh the truth. DH and little gigs are why you carry on and do everything you can to get this bugger under control. Hope appointments today gone off OK. Good work on the new jeans x

sparkle glad to hear DS on the mend. Brave boy x Glad pirate dog on good form too Smile

sometimes as a Dorset resident, I shall try and organise some nice weather for you for your weekend away! Hope you and DS will have a lovely time. Which part are you visiting?

Sometimesiwonder · 03/05/2012 15:14

Much appreciated, Ned - it is persisting down again here at the moment Angry

We were planning to go to Bournemouth because DH and dd both really like it, and I am partial to a stroll along a nice pier myself. But we had a website malfunction when booking the hotel, I lost my patience and booked somewhere else in a huff, so now we are going to Christchurch, which I do think is also very lovely. TBH, anywhere it isn't raining would do for me at this point. Am normally pretty buoyant of mood, but this weather is making me want to do something drastic Sad

Gigondas · 03/05/2012 15:28

Hi all. Crawled back Into bed after rads and nutritionist . Am still on the canvas but planning to get up for the next round so to speak Smile. I guess I just need to go through shock/despair stage.

I asked nutritionist about hormone bc and food. She says it's complex but is going to try to arrange a blog or question session on here to help. The big no no is soy (cos of the phytooestrogens) - if you do like soy milk, she suggests oat or hemp milk instead.

sparkle love to ds and pirate dog. smee how you doing love? mas well done on limited clean.

topsy how is the cookie making going ?

Sometimesiwonder · 03/05/2012 15:31

Welcome back, Gig.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/05/2012 15:35

cookies sound just the ticket...
Am just having a small break -thanks for being encouraging about the cleaning- I feel a little unsettled and rther shocked at how fast the day hs whizzed by,despite not spending ages with my duster..am desperate to walk somewhere but haven't time/too wet out - need to post things and go to the bank and get some air.
