Crazy8- another please try not to worry here. Side effect of radiotherapy is tissue thickening so could be that.

kurri yay for your mate. And I know what you mean about Tom- that is not a colour you see in nature Grin

crazy8 · 18/05/2012 11:53

Thank you MAS and Smee. Am just stressed as lost my dad 2 years ago after a long illness and now have a dread of hospitals. Am keeping fingers and everything else crossed.

crazy8 · 18/05/2012 11:55

Thanks KK and Gig. Am counting on it being tissue thickening! My mum is being quite brave. Just trying to reassure her the whole time.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 12:12

when is your mum's appointment ? stick around here for hand holding Smile Very sorry to hear about your dad too.

OP posts:
smee · 18/05/2012 12:30

Crazy that's sad about your dad. Seriously it would be bizarre if you weren't worried, but take heart from fact she's been regularly assessed, as it does mean if it is anything it'll be early stages, so treatable. Smile

MAS, work's a teeny bit calmer here now. Had the best of news yesterday, as the project I stayed up all night on Sunday polishing is liked, so phew and phew again. Still got lots to do on it, but shouldn't be too stressful now. Are you still as busy?

smee · 18/05/2012 13:29

MAS, am confused, but isn't it your mammogram today?? If so, hope it's okay and not too uncomfortable. Been quite a week for you with appointments.

LimeJellyforBrains · 18/05/2012 15:06

Hope the mammo is as tolerable as possible MAS!

Topsy you poor thing, you are being put through the wringer Sad. Hope the ABs get to work super-quick. I am supposed to be discussing my 'evening-up' op with the surgeon in June! I'm sure you, like me, assumed it would be a straightforward thing. I'm so sorry x

Hope you are recovering well Sometimes. Gooey cake and chocolate are easy to eat lying down! (or do they rush you onto your feet as soon as poss these days?) x

greylady - hope you feel better day by day x

Snoopy - hope the scan went well. I remember being upset by the thought of being radioactive so no DS cuddles x Hoping for clear results for you x

Well done Smee on good work done Smile. Enjoy a Wine or three tonight!

Feeling rubbish today. Just had a crying meltdown in the kitchen. Not sure why worse today, although I do have several stressful things lurking over my shoulder (not bc related). Hug please Sad

NedSchneebly · 18/05/2012 16:30

Hugs and more hugs for lime ((((((((((((((lime))))))))))))) sorry you're having a sad day. Natural, I think, so go with the flow and vent on here if you need to x x

smee awesome news on your project - nice one! Glad to hear all your hard work has paid off. Does that take the pressure off a bit then? Hope so. I've got 2 more chemo - next one on Monday.

kurri probably a good decision not to do keep fit today. Hope your neck is feeling better this afternoon. Is your picture all finished? Great news about your friend getting an all clear- what a relief for her.

topsy keep taking the horse pills love. Hope they can get your back on your feet really soon. Sending you massive hugs x x

MAS hope mammo went OK. Pleased to have it done and dusted, I bet.

crazy sorry you have to go through all this with your mum. Waiting is the absolute pits. When is her appointment? Stick with us and we can see you both through it.

snoopy bless your DS. Hope scan OK.

Had lovely lunch with an old university mate today - don't see her all that often, but always like we're 21 again when we do meet up.

Waves to all. Brew anyone?

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 16:31

big hug lime and some mini Rolos
smee well done you-am so pleased that your work was appreciated ! Am doing 3 jobs at the mo,so happily occupied.
Yes,have just returned from mammo - wasn't too ouchy-the sideways ones always seem more uncomfortable,v nice radiologist though and I had a cup of tea afterwards with my BCN which was lovely.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 16:33

waving to ned ! will be sending best vibes for next chemo - you're almost through to the end !

OP posts:
graciesmall09 · 18/05/2012 16:49

Huge hugs to lime. Sorry you are feeling so down today.

kurri that is fantastic news about your friend. I'm sure she is delighted. Glad your neck feeling a little easier.

Aw topsy you are having such a miserable time. Hugs to you. Hope those antibiotics kick in soon.

mas glad mammogram went well and wasn't too sore.

ned that is just fab only 2 more chemo to go - nearly there.

snoopy hope scan goes ok. When should you get your results?

Well done smee on the work front. Sounds good.

DD's best friend in school vomited all over the desk today and was sent home - according to the teacher it is doing the rounds. Vomiting bugs are my worst nightmare so (stupidly) I am in panic mode. Stay away sickness vibes urgently needed before I have a meltdown. Plus DD and said friend have their first dancing exam on Sunday so definitely not perfect timing.

NedSchneebly · 18/05/2012 16:54

Thanks MAS I do feel a bit closer to the end now that I feel better after the infection etc. Hoping th next cycle will be a bit more manageable and infection free!

Glad your mammo went off Ok and good that you got to see your BCN. Smile

amberlight · 18/05/2012 17:19

Yes please for tea!
Hi all. Back home tomorrow so proper catch up then.
Tipsy, argh re chest etc !
Lime, hugs.

smee · 18/05/2012 17:56

(((((hugs for Lime)))))) definitely moan, rant or just collapse on here. It's why we're here. Smile

Ned, two to go's pretty good, even after the wretched time you had last cycle, that must seem a bit more manageable.

Wonder how Snoopy got on. How she's okay.

MAS, well done on mammo. I always found the sideways ones the most ouch. Glad you had a chance to meet up with BCN too. I know she means a lot to you.

No news from Topsy and Sometimes is still MIA. I'd bet she is zipping round the ward, as they do get you moving as soon as they can. Hope you're okay Sometimes and you too, Topsy. Am sending Tunnocks wafers as healthy (!) fbs. One there for Greylady too. Hope you're still climbing back to health. Smile

Gracie, yuk on vomiting bug. Never desirable, and especially not when you're in treatment. hope she avoids it and you too. Sad

Waving to Amber. Welcome home. Smile

Wine tonight surely. Hope everyone's okay. I know lots are going through it atm. Am going to cook Asparagus risotto. Not sure why, but have been craving it all day. Smile

jchocchip · 18/05/2012 18:08

hugs for lime. Mas well done on the mammogram. Topsy aargh!

I'm with my Mum in B'ham and have heard the police helicopter already. Watched hairy bikers and made some scones. Eating them with butter and strawberry jam, have put some on the fbs trolley. Definitely a Wine night! Asparagus risotto sounds yum! :)

KurriKurri · 18/05/2012 18:22

for Lime - sorry you are feeling so low, - would it help to chat about things? - we're always here if you think it would Smile

MAS - well done on mammo, - good that's out of the way.

jane - how is your mum atm? Scones sound good Smile

SP does asparagus risotto Smee - I love anything with asparagus in it. How do you make your risotto? Well done on your work being appreciated.

gracie - sending anti sickness bug vibes your way - it is so hard to avoid nasties when you have school age children. But fingers crossed it will pass the Small household by.

Ned - lovely you could catch up with your friend, - I have a uni friend and she was my flatmate, and we did the round Europe backpacking thing together -she always makes me feel young (even though she's just about to become a grandmother Grin)

Definitely on the home stretch with you chemo now - that's great Smile

welcome home amber - got a Brew waiting for you Smile

I've done a picture this afternoon of a penguin (a very fat one from the back, trudging through the snow Grin) - I think he'd make a good Christmas card, but maybe not right for the exhibition!

Hope sparkle and sparkle junior are OK - haven't seen her about for a little while.

KurriKurri · 18/05/2012 18:23

that should say 'So does asparagus risotto -' - no idea who SP is Grin

jchocchip · 18/05/2012 18:38

Mum didn't recognise me when I got here. She seems a bit disorientated and sense of time is well off. She did know me once I talked to her and does seem ok now, but very weary. :(

graciesmall09 · 18/05/2012 19:12

jchoc aw your poor mum. Elderly/unwell parents are such a worry. I find it very stressful as unfortunately I'm an only child so the worry all falls to me. Hope your mum enjoys your time together.

kurri your picture sounds lovely.

smee · 18/05/2012 19:28

Asparagus risotto has red onion, mint and parsley. It's mmm... DS and I are watching 'The Illusionist'. Fab.

Picture sounds good. Penguins always make me smile.

Yes, was wondering where Sparkle had got to. Sparkle, are you out there??

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 20:49

have just been to have some wine and crisps with parents - both in good spirits and hooray, mum has new drugs !!

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 18/05/2012 20:50

risotto sounds very yum btw !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 18/05/2012 22:10

jane - that's sad about your mum Sad - I used to find it so hard when Dad struggled to recognise me.
gracie it must be very difficult when you are an only child, - so worrying when parents start to get frail.

Smee- risotto sounds lovely - I must have a go at that.

Hooray for new drugs for your mum MAS - I hope they improve things for her.

Finger crossed for nice weather this weekend - I have gardening plans Smile

snoopygirl · 19/05/2012 14:10

Hi ladies

Hope your weekend is going well. Lime huggs to you and hope your feeling bit better now.

I'm fine thanks for asking. Scan ok but instead of wandering down to cafe had to sit in isolation for hour and half and then scan was 30mins with arms above head, hence when I was released I had badd pins and needles in shoulders. Had a big fat Marsbar to cheer me up as was starving. Now just to wait for results which she is going to phone me with! Why scares the crap out of me her suprising me out of nowwhere. When that result is back (maybe Monday she does seem to call me quick after scans), I can hopefully it being good news just prepare for 1st chemo on wed.

I tell you what I haven't stopped in three weeks since DX what with texts, phone calls, people popping in, family needing updates...I'm exhausted already, plus don't feel like I've barely been at home as up hospital all time for tests. Mon - pre chemo meet and wig appointment, Tues Oxford again for picc line and marker coil insertion, Wed chemo............bed probably!

At least all rushing around will calm down a bit. I feel a bit of a fool not knowing what type of BC I have I must ask.

DS was over grandma's last night for sleepover and burst into tears twice and wanted to see Daddy. he asked him was he worried about me and he said yes. DS also told couple of friends at school. His friends are surprised to see me thinking I am be bound, which i may be next week?!

I think DS justs needs to let it sink in a bit but I am not bringing it up unless he does as don'twant to make a bigger deal of it. Hope he is not upset to see me sick next week.

Orange men hilarious! they should be banned some of those pictures. Tom looks like he's rolled in creosote!
x

smee · 19/05/2012 14:44

Snoopy, glad scan was okay. How old's your DS? You might be able to get through first chemo without him noticing much. I was unlucky in that it did make me throw up a lot (seriously it really doesn't do that to a lot of women). Still, I kept that to the bathroom. DH took DS out at weekends, so I just needed to be chirpy at breakfast and tea/ until bedtime. It wasn't that we hid things from him, but I just kept going when he was about. He was 5, so maybe easier to pull the wool over their eyes a bit at that age.

Jane, that is sad about your mum. Must be very hard for you. My mother's going in that direction too. She's early stages Alzheimers, but definitely sliding away. She completely forgot about my operation, which isn't like her at all. I haven't reminded her as she'd have been very upset, but it was a real marker for me in lots of ways.

Been out this morning digging and planting the school vegetable garden with lots of overly enthusiastic children. Was fun, but I got nettle clearing duty, so am covered in stings. Ouch..
