Why I am watching bgt when there is little chance I would watch the royal variety performance?

Tom looking very orange tonight on the voice.

thegreylady · 12/05/2012 20:34

Hi all I am on holiday in a lovely hotel in Robin hoods Bay. I have a temp of 38.1 a very blocked nose no appetite and a cough. Otherwise everything perfect weather sunny and warm I tried to post on bcc but it still wont oblige it is a nuisance because I am meant to be meeting some of them for lunch soon and can't communicate. Ah well.
I am going to Gp on Friday to ask him to sort out a private chest X-ray for me. I need to be able to get the results on the same day.
Take care everyone.

KurriKurri · 12/05/2012 21:05

Just dashing in to say hello.

Glad the op is done and dusted topsy, enjoy your lemon sole, and your silk sheets, and your ball gown and your own personal foot massager Grin

Ned - bother about the thrush, - I think I said about the fluconazole in a post yesterday - they should have given it to you from when you started the AB's. I'm sure it will clear quickly now you have something to take though.

Greylady - hope the doctor can sort you out an x-ray, and get that cough cleared up.

l4k - John Lewis are good for MX bra fitting and measuring, or there might be a specialist shop in your area (check on the internet). I get most of my bras from the internet (I use two sites - Nicola Jane, and Contura Belle, - but there are several others) - once your MIL knows her size, I think online is better because you get a much wider choice than in high street stores (JL, M and S, and possibly Debenhams do MX bras)

I've spent the whole day trying to cram for my theory test next week. - Don't feel as if I know any of it Sad

Am also a bit upset about the distribution of some of my Dad's belongings. Basically my oldest sister has grabbed everything she think is of any value Hmm and then me and middle sister were asked if we wanted anything. I said I would like my Dad's old sliderule, and today I was told that actually my nephew (oldest sister's son) wants it, so I can't have it.

I don't want to cause a fuss, but I feel very hurt that I was told I could have it (it has sentimental value for me - no monetary value) then after it was promised to me DN says he wants it and its given to him. I feel that middle sister and I should have more say over what happens to my dad's things, than my nephew.

Anyway, its only stuff and it feels petty to argue about it, but I feel very upset about it, I just wanted something that my Dad used to use every day in his work. Sad

Gigondas · 12/05/2012 21:07

That's not stupid at all kurri I would be upset too. Very high handed of your sister- not just about the value items but more about ignoring you and your other sis.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/05/2012 21:52

oh kk Sad agree with gig - it would mean so much more to you than nephew (is that the hideous one ?)
greylady hope you can get private chest x ray - rotten to have been suffering so long with this chestiness Sad
Guess what ? we have won £100 on the Thunderball - woo !

OP posts:
l4k · 12/05/2012 22:16

Thanks for the bra info,so am I right in thinking she won't need one immediately after the mastectomy? i didn't realise that.Confused Blush

Its lovely to see tipsy topsy back in high spirits, good for you.

I've always wondered what valium was like gig, sounds like I'd like it!!

Figgyroll · 12/05/2012 22:36

Crikey, KK, no wonder you are upset. Not very nice of your sister at all. Is there something else you would like? It's so important to have something personal to remember your dear dad by. I have my dad's watch. I must have missed your theory test news. I'm sure you do know it, it just seems a lot to take in when you're not used to studying.

14K, definitely no need for a mx bra for the first couple of months I would say. A softie, if your mil can bear it next to her scar, popped into a normal comfy bra will suffice for a while. I was surprised at how heavy my prosthesis is - I'm a 40DD.

Hope you get an x-ray asap Greylady. This cough has been hanging round for a while. It must be getting you down.

Well done on your lottery win MAS. I trust you will be spending some of it on FBS?

DH and DS1 still not back from football. Their team lost in the playoffs today so they wont be happy. I've been hogging the remote control and watched Lord of the Rings followed by TOTP from 1976 with Noel Edmonds. David Soul was just on, I used to have a thing for him. I expect we'll catch up with BGT and The Voice when they're home.

KurriKurri · 12/05/2012 23:24

l4k - immediately after MX, you MIl will be given a 'softee' - a very light weight breast form that can be pinned into her bra, once her wound has healed a bit. They usually get you to take one of your usual bras into hospital with you, so you can try various sizes of softee and find the most suitable.

Specialist MX bra websites often sell bras that are for straight after surgery - for support but very soft plain cotton fabric.

Thanks all for kind comments about my upset, it helped to get it off my chest and hear others say I'm not being silly.

MAS - it is the brother of the hideously vile nephew who is scanning my mother's house for what he wants Angry

I said to my mum that ultimately it was up to her what she did with dad's things, because they belong to her, and I wouldn't cause trouble over anything (big sister can be a bit unpleasant when things don't go her way, and really kick off, and I don't want her being nasty to mum). But I did say that I felt middle sister and I should have been asked if we wanted anything before nephew helped himself.
Then I felt a bit mean afterwards, I don't want to stress her out.

Oh well - looking at the bigger picture, I've got lots of happy memories of Dad, I don't need material stuff to remind me of him.

MAS - woohoo for lottery win, well done, are you going to treat yourself to something nice?

wishing everyone a good nights sleep and a sunny day tomorrow. xx

topsyturner · 13/05/2012 07:16

Morning All

Am up and washed and teefies brushed .
Clean pjs on .
Morning drugs taken (although don't know why I took last nights offered sleeping tab as the kept poking me awake every 2 hours for obs !)
Now waiting to see what deluxe brekkie is on offer today !

Mas I predict new ink , purple converse and some trousers from White Stuff will be experiencing a visit from a lottery winner shortly Grin

What's our Sunday plans ?

NedSchneebly · 13/05/2012 07:46

Morning all! Brew anyone? I can see that this thread descended to new lows of orange last night. . . Smile

gig how you doing this morning?

topsy hope breakfast up to an appropriate standard for you this morning?

MAS well done on your lottery win! Definitely treat yourself to some purple converses. . . You know you want to!
like this. . .

Angry for you kurri I definitely think you and your sister should have had first choice before the insufferable nephews.

grey definitely a good idea to try and get your rotten cough sorted once and for all. Poor you, it's been hanging around hasn't it?

Feeling a bit better here this morning, I think. Have had a busy morning of finger football with DS so far today!

Gigondas · 13/05/2012 07:51

Morning all - Brew anyone?

It is so annoying when they keep waking you up. I remember crying when was in hospital with mini gig as if she didn't wake me up, the nurses etc would.

masGrin on lottery win.

I4k I am quite impressed as helped me sleep better but I think that was as much the acupuncture . Somehow my mind seems to have stopped doing so much paranoid whirling so I can sleep better. I wish I could sleep in but big gig pottered in an hour ago and is watching cbeebies next to me.

kurri I found those observation tests hard on theory test - its nor always obvious but afaik they don't put that many of them in the test. The other thing I found off putting is it didn't take long to do test so you can leave when finished. But it was that strange when you get up and others are still doing it so you wander if you have missed a question.
My plans involve taking big gig to a football party..:

Gigondas · 13/05/2012 07:52

Ok ned - over my wobble of yesterday. How you doing?

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/05/2012 08:33

ooh breakfast topsy yum- hope it is good. Glad that sleeping is a bit better gig despite big gig interruptions Smile
You are tempting me to buy things ned and topsy ! Strictly speaking it's dh's win as it was his £1 but he did use my special numbers - so we'll spend it on something frivolous like nice dinner out ...purple Converse still very tempting...
Off to Wimbledon to friends for lunch -am feeling ok about it- it's usually the anticipation that is harder than the actual thing, though am slightly anxious about getting the train on time (not driving as parking there seems impossible-residents parking etc-and can't have wine !)
Have lovely days everyone- will report back xxx

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 13/05/2012 09:03

Hope you have a lovely lunch MAS. Easier on the train, definitely - better to allow for Wine !

Doing OK here - bit less wiped out, I think. Bit better down below too Blush. Got DSs fab godparents coming for lunch. They're very chilled and brilliant with J, so will be lovely. DH does catering, do don't have to worry about food side.

Hope everyone else got nice plans for this sunny Sunday x x

Gigondas · 13/05/2012 09:11

Yes have a lovely lunch with lots of Wine mas.

Glad that you are bit better.

Am sat out in garden eating breakfast.

topsy be warned- more orange men coming your way later...

l4k · 13/05/2012 09:36

Morning gig. I have to tell you that dc4 has just this last few weeks stopped getting in bed with us in the morning. Dh is over the moon and I am heartbroken. Make the most of it. I know it can be a bit dangerous to dose while you could get elbowed in the eye any second but it's worth it.

Gigondas · 13/05/2012 09:53

If it was just her it wouldn't be so bad but typically her arrival is preceded by a couple of taggies, some soft toys and some barbies being thrown at me. Then I have to "make cat talk" so not reacting isn't an option Grin

KurriKurri · 13/05/2012 10:02

Morning all, feeling a bit better this morning - more inclined to say to hell with greedy sister and appalling nephews, forget about it all and just get on with life.

I'm glad others wobbles are a bit better today too Smile

topsy - report on your luxury breakfast please (I have had bran flakes Sad)

Ned - glad you are more comfortable, enjoy your guests.

MAS - have a lovely lunch, - you can plan how to spend your DH's winnings on the train Grin. I'm sure you'll have a good time once you get there Smile

Gig -breakfast in the garden sounds very nice, - have fun at the football party.

Remember my mad neighbours and the saga of their new lawn? - mystery solved - this weekend a large marquee has gone up in their garden, so presumably one of their neanderthal offspring has found a mate and is getting wed. Grin

Plans for the day - more highway code, - I'm going to do some practice test papers online.
And I'm going to make an all-bran loaf, - I know it sounds awful, but a friend gave me the recipe and said it was nice. I will let you know how it turns out - watch this space!

Have a good Sunday everyone, - hope you get home soon topsy (not until you've sampled all the facilities though Grin)

AutumnSummers · 13/05/2012 10:17

Hello ladies. Well, I have a tumour after all. Not in my nethers as first thought but in my neck and face. I had a CT on Friday to see what it's attatched to and I have to go back on the 25th for the results. They better have a plan to get rid of it and biopsy it or I may get shirty. This stuff has been going on waaaay too long.

I feel like I've been unable to make plans. What's the point? I'm definately in a what's the point place generally.

I remember the last time I was here one of you was going to NY! Who was it and, more importantly, HOW was it?!

I'll have a read through the thread later. Just wanted to say hi x

KurriKurri · 13/05/2012 11:04

Autumn - I'm sorry to hear that they have found a tumour, - it must be a shock for you, and it's very natural to feel down and 'what's the point?'
You need a bit of time to absorb the information and get your head round your diagnosis.

Have they given you any idea about what treatment you will have and when it will start, - do you know if you'll need surgery? I think once you have a bit more idea of how they are planning to deal with the cancer, and you can prepare for your treatment, you will feel a bit calmer, and be able to think more clearly.
I know when I was first DX and waiting for tests to come back, my mind was overloaded with thoughts, and it was hard to see the bigger, longer term picture.

Waiting for results is stressful, so come on here and chat if it helps, - we can do hand holding, cake and Brew, - sometimes helps to have a rant on here to get things off your chest.

take care xx

NedSchneebly · 13/05/2012 11:19

Autumn - kurri speaketh the truth - once you've got a proper idea of what they've found and what they're going to do about it, then you'll be able to see the way ahead more clearly. Stick with us, and we can see you through it all. Big hugs x x

Just wanted to share DSs classic comment of the morning - we were playing "mummies and daddies and dogs", with the enormous box DHs garden vac came in being the kennel.
DS: I'm the daddy and you're the mummy.
Me: OK.
DS: and this is our dog who lives in the kennel.
Me: have you put a cushion in for the dog?
DS: Yes. The mummy and daddy can't have a baby because they've got a trampoline. . .
Me: Confused Hmm Grin right.. .
