Passes kk comfy blanky and pats her patronisingly on the head Grin

Baskets45 · 09/05/2012 21:09

Really pleased to see Ned back. Rest well and enjoy first night back in own bed. Sorry you've been so unwell. Glad Topsy found choc eggs as my donation to FBS trolley will be long gone. Tablet cut up into tiny pieces (a litle goes a long way, even here), also some wonderful sultana cookies, and choc and orange ones too. So some of your 5 a day. Don't expect this every time I visit woolshop. I am Scottish, after all ....

Baskets45 · 09/05/2012 21:23

Gig, it's not quite cots and cling film, but have you seen on AIBU the one about clean homes? I must be very middle class. It must be all that knitting. No time to properly clean anything.

jchocchip · 09/05/2012 21:35

So glad you made it home, ned.

Hi baskets - seems you have tuned into this threads wavelength with a superior sort of fbs :) I've got a stash of wool, and another of fleece and a third of velvet fents (but the mill has been demolished so no more of those :( ...)

kk the 'nice' weather is in Morocco, where I've run away I've come for some much needed rest and recuperation, staying with my cousin. But forecast is for high 30's in Marrakech and I think that is far too hot. I'm going to melt!
Think I'm going to take my phrase book on a trip to Casablanca on the train tomorrow. Wish me luck!

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/05/2012 23:01

it is lovely to have you join us baskets Grin

Baskets -a wool stash and tablet for the FBS trolley, - you will fit right in here. Grin

I'm sorry you have health problems, and hope your blood test results take you forward in your treatment, although I know it's always a strain waiting for results of any sort. Hope your chest infection clears soon, - they are a pain.

topsy, my brain is not what it was in my yoof. Frankly I think I'm turning into my mum - calling everyone by the wrong name, and losing my purse twenty times a day Grin

jchocchip · 10/05/2012 07:23

Morning all! Time for a Brew?

:) at kk turning into her Mum and the giant slipper. Do you have to hop everywhere?

Gigondas · 10/05/2012 07:47

Yes please j. What are your plans today?

kurri your post made me smile.

baskets you will fit right in . And know what you mean about other threads - the net not the best place to hunt out support and advice but different here. Tends to be dominated by the out of date, desperate or the loonies (same with everything - imagine if you judged family life by the relationships Posts here).

Any tips on nausea? I am sleeping a bit better (still not all night and can't nap do may try whole sleeping tab tonight) but feel sick and no appetite. Any advice on what works to settle that?

smee · 10/05/2012 09:57

Gig, what do you think's making you feel sick? Make yourself eat something, even if you don't feel like it. You need to keep as strong as you can. Rads to exhaust you though, I remember it well.

Envy at Jane's trip to Casablanca. Have never been there, but imagine it in black and white obviously. Grin

Baskets, you sound like our sort of woman. Sorry you're having a run of tests though.

Ned, are you with us?? What happened then? Hope it wasn't too scary. Sad

Gracie, how are you feeling? Hope side effects aren't too grim this time.

Sometimes, I have a candle lit for your Surgeon's appointment. Hope you're bouncing back soon with all clear. We need to know about Jools. Smile

It's lit for you too 1Step. Hope they answer all your questions and you have a clear plan through to the other side. xx

Oozing wound here, think stitches have ripped. Am already on my second t-shirt of the day. Waiting for BCN to call to see if I can nip over and get her to have a look. Am tempted to join Kurri in her giant slipper.

NedSchneebly · 10/05/2012 10:15

Can I crawl into kurri's giant slipper too? Very tired this morning and a bit washed out.

Complicated scary week- started on GCSF injections last Thursday, started to feel really rough on Friday, awful aches and pains, which I just put down to the injections. Woke up Saturday with foul sore throat and earache, and such aches in my back and legs that I couldn't walk. Got codeine from OOH, but didn't make much difference apart from making me feel completely stoned.

Sunday morning ended up in casualty with temperature, sore neck, back, legs, throat and earache. Neutrophils down to 0.3, white count 0.8. Admitted to brand new cancer ward and hooked up to iv antibiotics. I don't think I have ever felt so rotten. Temperature kept spiking up, and heart rate vey fast. Had ECG and chest X-ray but both OK. Got neutrophils up to 6 by yesterday, so ok to come home with yet more antibiotics for another week.

Will catch up on all news properly today, but hope anyone in need can snuggle up under kurri's blanket . . . Smile

Gigondas · 10/05/2012 10:24

How badly is wound oozing and does it smell? Some leakage normal so may not be stitches smee.

Can't eat much as so shocked/tired which fuels sickness. Need to chase up psych appt.

ned that sounds awful but glad you are home now. And snuggle away. Was this new cancer centre in London by chance? If so think we may be at same hospital .

smee · 10/05/2012 10:25

Oh Ned, that sounds dire. Poor you. I'd bet they'll decrease your dose next time and you'll be fine. Least it means the Tax is having some effect though, even if it was a bit drastic..

Sometimesiwonder · 10/05/2012 10:36

Ned that sounds absolutely horrible. Good on you for sitting on top of it though, and getting treated. Take it easy while you get properly better. x

Smee - hope you get that looked at soon. Sounds horrid. What colour is the ooze? (sorry to ask)

Loving the duck story! Love, love, LOVE baby ducks so I am quite Envy too. Though I would not know where to start looking after them.

Check up all fine, except we were all booked into the wrong clinic, which took a bit of sorting out Hmm. But I am fine and mammo gram has been booked: it wasn't in the system apparently. It is these little things that let the system down, really - not that I am complaining. My treatment when I needed it most was first rate. Good old NHS.

Jools was magnificent as he always is. My dancing less so, TBH. I am surprised the roof stayed on the venue - imagine a 20 piece band, plus Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall, Jools and Gregory Porter all belting out a song together for the encore. Exciting is not the word for it. I have never heard of Gregory Porter before, but if you can get past the hat and odd jacket, he is brilliant. And did I say exciting? Going again at Christmas. That'll be my 6th time, and not tiring yet

Sometimesiwonder · 10/05/2012 10:38

Ned - wish I could come and mop your fevered brow. You poor, thing Sad

smee · 10/05/2012 10:49

Ooh, Ruby Turner's extraordinary and with the others too. Envy

Great to hear appt was okay - am sure mammo will be too. Onwards for Sometimes. Excellent. Smile Smile

Sparkle, we need a ducking update..

smee · 10/05/2012 10:49

Sorry Sometimes, forgot to answer your vile question. It's that yellow straw like colour. On my 2nd t-shirt of the day... Hmm

Gigondas · 10/05/2012 10:59

That is ok smee if yellow and doesn't smell- that's lymph. That is normal til wound heals up. It's if it starts to smell that is an issue (and you will know).

Sometimes glad concert was fun and got mammo sorted.

Sometimesiwonder · 10/05/2012 11:04

I was going to say that's lymph too. Only worry is, if that can get out, infection can get in. So it needs watching - and action taken fast if it starts to get warm, itchy (or indeed smelly, as Gig says)

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/05/2012 11:25

eew, poor smee and poor ned - sounds very scary.
gig perhaps small bites of toast, plain biscuit ? poor love- shock does that to me but hits my tummy so I just feel bleugh that end.
Cleaning today which is hanging over me, but picture finished yesterday so that's good.
Glad check up was fine and dandy sometimes and that you enjoyed your Jools fest.

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 10/05/2012 11:28

x (and a reluctant hand with the dusting)

smee · 10/05/2012 11:29

I know, am on it I promise. Lymph is good and normal, but I want the wretched drain out and the skin stapled shut. Grin

MAS, saw your pic. Was wonderfully eccentric. Love the toilet..! Cleaning sounds a bit drastic though..

Gig, how you feeling now? Any less sick?

Gigondas · 10/05/2012 11:36

A bit less sick which is good. Also out of the other side of absolute wave of despair this morning. Lieing down now as is mini gig who isn't that keen on the idea Grin.

smee stay away from office world - do you know when staples due out?

mas i loved the card.

Baskets45 · 10/05/2012 12:13

I could weep. Just did a post and lost in ether. I think that's why I'm a lurker, can't be bothered with modern technology going wrong. Great when it works well but soo frustrating when not.

Gist of my thoughts, in no special order. Smee, get your wound checked out if it concerns you. R u going to cycle again?! Do u have dressings/padding to put over the top? To save clothes from leakage as much as anything. As others say, it does sound clean though. Do you have staples in wound? They must be nearly ready to come out soon. So hope nurse invites you in for check soon.

Gig. Glad your nights are more settled. Can you manage fruit smoothie type drinks? Good if someone can help you with prep. Maybe try to think of this as medicinal? And fret not if you don't sleep in day, expect you will be tired (new baby, rads, this huge stress of Dx and recent events, etc). You are tired. You will be tired. Expect very little of self just now. You know the drill, i am sure. At very least, sip cold water. Re sleep, maybe regard more sleep in total as good OBViously!! and just rest in day. Can you just get comfy, warm, listen to radio, music etc? Sorry, probably not very helpful.

Casablanca Jane!! Enjoy the train journey. i have rough guide to morocco. I collect travel books as well as knitting yarn ... Envy

Best wishes to all. Must go. See you all later. Hope you all have good days. Whatever the circs.

SparkleRainbow · 10/05/2012 13:40

Welcome baskets - you have found a group of kindred spirits I think....

hmm there is a thought for the day, we are so much more than a "group" wonder what our collective noun could be.......

Clutch, gaggle, herd (definitely not my favourite) personally I rather like a trolley of ladies (ode to fbs trolley)!

Gig I do hope you are feeling a little better.

Smee - sorry it is weeping, horrid I am sure.

Ned - I am here to tuck you in, under that nice soft blanket of Kurri's.

I am absolutely dreading rheumatologit appt for ds, woke up feeling sick about it, and still am now. Can't quite face eating, but I know I mujst or I will go all wobbly. Wish dh could have come, but he leaves the medical side of parenting to me....so I just have to get on with it. Sad

On plus side, the ducklings are doing very well. Need to feed them again actually, haven't got any chick crumbs, so having to crush them up some food in my pestle and mortar (crazy woman!) I seriously believe they sound more like they are clucking than quacking now....but then as previosuyl stated I am crazy woman. Wink No working camera at the mo, so can't take any photos. Have got a photo of ikki pirate dog though whoch my FIL took, will put it on my profile page, so if you want to see it, you can. If you want to but can't see it because I haven't given you access, then let me know.

Gigondas · 10/05/2012 13:45

Ohh can I see photos please. I will also try to put some on my fb page.

Nurse rang back and helped as did therapist And my dad. If this is what depression is like , poor sods who have it Sad

I hope appt goes ok- I cannot imagine how stressful it must be for you sparkle. How is ds now ?
