Bought this as not prepared to fork out for a gym membership as I know I'll never go.
Did it today, thought the pump bit of it was not too bad... 30 minutes, light sweat little bit puffed, so sat down and had a flick through the dvd extras
Then once cooled down jumped up to make some lunch
And my legs collapsed, like jelly... even now they feel... unreliable like after 14 double vodkas type of thing

well if you put all three sections together it's just over an hour. If you do them individually I guess each one is about 20 mins (then you do cool down and warm up too).

on 2nd DVD there are 3, 30 mins workouts.

I love Davina too, not that much as a person but I love these DvDs and I think they've mad e a big difference to my shape- I've been a member of the gym, I've run but I think this is working best of all. I bought the new one too but I've only done the first two in them but for soem reason prefer the first DVD, although this afternoon I think I'll try the pump section again. Has anyone else seen a big difference in their shape?

Freckle · 17/01/2006 12:42

Which dvd is it? The Power of 3 or 3 30 min workouts?

Freckle · 17/01/2006 12:43

Also, do you work up a sweat? (sorry, not very ladylike - do you glow??) I used to do Tae bo which was very effective, but I just don't have the time to do the workout and shower and wash my hair afterwards each time. So can you do these workouts in normal clothes and still walk around smelling fresh as a daisy afterwards??

Tasa · 17/01/2006 13:09

I do Power of 3, miss out the warm up and the cool down and work out for 45 minutes and yes you do sweat quite a bit and would need to shower but not necesarily wash your hair. I've done it so many times now that I know what's coming and so I wear my ipod and listen to my own music -although the music on it is quite good and just get through it but it's fairly enjoyable, well at least compared to going to the gym it is. Josh salzman who writes for The Times I think it si, he's a big fitness guru and advocates that people work out only three times a week for 30 minutes

intergalacticwalrus · 17/01/2006 13:12

It does look good, but I think Davina would do my head in, as I find her deeply irritating

katierocket · 17/01/2006 13:12

on the new one you can switch her off - there is a 'mostly music' option.

crazydazy · 17/01/2006 13:17

Not tried Davina's yet.

I've got a good one by Sande Urquhart who is a professional dancer, you have to work hard and I felt really tired after, but have done it 3 times and it seems quite good. Am really getting into this fitness thing.

countrylass · 17/01/2006 14:13

Hey piffle

Don't feel too bad - I bought this a couple of days ago and found that the pump workout really hurt my thighs! Plus, I've been working out regularly for about 3 years without problems, so this one must really reach muscles that others don't. Have you tried the middle one (boxing?) Thats a real killer!

katierocket · 17/01/2006 14:18

I found pump one much harder than the boxing workout - probably because i kept falling behind with the boxing moves!

Lulu41 · 18/01/2006 13:05

Oh I bought this on Sunday at present have only sat on the bed and watched the first two - looks quite tough for a non-exerciser!! So glad you started this thread had been wondering what others thought might summon up courage to do it tonight or tomorrow morning if I can drag my fat lardy ar.. out of bed before the kids [gring]

Lulu41 · 18/01/2006 13:06

Obviously should read

Piffle · 18/01/2006 14:52

tbh while I was doing it I felt FINE
but afterwards the rot set in....

I've not done it, only lloked to see what it was about and it looked very difficult. i think all of them are difficult- i did the 30 minute pump today and I'm starting to ache but I really like the fact it's only half an hour - although i can't take my eyes off jackie's eye brows- what has she done to them, it looks like she's had botox and just don't think they look like a couple at all- not that either of these things have got anyhting to do with fitness!

countrylass · 19/01/2006 09:32

And hasn't Jackie got a weird shape?? Kind of tiny legs and rounded middle?

The chap is rather nice though...

donnie · 19/01/2006 09:34

I have never bought a fitness video in my life but I now desperately need to! which of the Davina ones is best please? also, will I need to buy any implements like weights etc? I used to do a lot of aerobics/jogging etc so I can take quite punishing schedules ( I hope!)

JackieNo · 19/01/2006 09:34

Oi - are you talking about me ? (No, not me really, as I never do any exercise. But need to start) Mind you, the bit about the rounded middle sounds spot on...

katierocket · 19/01/2006 09:35

Aimsmum -I've not attempted core stablity yet, it looks so difficult.

donnie - they are both good.

Piffle · 19/01/2006 09:36

I wondered if Jackie was pregnant as she sat out the sit ups.

I have the sensation that every juscle in my body has been exercised, a have a pleasant tired ache everywhere
one very sor spot bang on hamstring so am not pushing stretches
Core stability have not looked at that yet, but will watch it today with hope of starting that next week
Am going to alternate between pump and cardio box for the next few days - will be doing it every day as I'm really liking it.
I'm also going to get the Charlie Brookes one for a change of routine and some diversion...
Doesn't she look fabulous?

OP posts:
Piffle · 19/01/2006 09:38

you can do it with or wothout weights
I have got some 2.5 kg ones from TX Maxx dead cheap and will use those next time I do the pump
I am using the new davina one the 3 30 minute workouts
30 minutes is fab!

OP posts:
myturn · 19/01/2006 09:48

I'm sure Jackie is pregnant in it.

The dvd is great. But, I liked Davina prior to the DVD, now i can't stand her - spend most of my time gritting my teeth at how irritating she is on it. Perhaps that's a good thing - will be working my jaw muscles as well as everything else...
