Oh God. Did not do anything over the weekend. Black mark for me.

Have got myself a fitness partner as from next week. We will egg eachother on.

hana · 18/11/2003 13:03

codswallop · 18/11/2003 19:22

OP posts:
Twink · 19/11/2003 07:22

Went out with a group of friends last night and we ended up doing about 3.5 miles.

People round our way seem to shut their curtains though so couldn't see much !

codswallop · 19/11/2003 09:41

...twink!!! must admit my crappy mile is getting m,ore manageable - may put an extension on the end to 1.5 miles..nedd to tour the circuit int he car

I could watch all of the news as I run round here - on about 20 different tv screens!

Have a sit up type pain in my tum where this is doing good

OP posts:
Twink · 19/11/2003 11:37

Go for it Coddy, it's amazing how quickly your body adapts to it (as long as you don't try to push on too quickly.

I'd better disappear and get on with my sit-ups before Beety starts shouting...

hana · 19/11/2003 12:18

ok girls, went running this morning , bout a 25 min run I think? Felt good to sweat again! Will try again at work on Friday too.

codswallop - 3.5 miles is impressive especailly if you are just starting again.

Twink, I know what you mean about building on your efforts and how running greater and greater distances becomes more easy. Personally I found that once I ran for more than about 35 mins, I really stopped liking it. I could and did do longer runs, but I just didn't want to push myself to do more, and felt happy settling for three 20 - 30 minute runs a week. I wonder if that's a sign of age? At work, the work people I was running with were in their early 30's and I was a good 10 years older than them.

I've run mon, tues, and weds - 15 minutes each time. HOpe to run again on Fri then that's it for the week! Keep meaning to go out at the weekends but I am either too busy or too lazy.

codswallop · 19/11/2003 12:44

I wish this thread would bog off! Every day I come on Mumsnet I see this thread and it reminds me what a lazy bugger I am!

Twink · 19/11/2003 14:57

Nooo we won't, in fact we'll all have to go out more often to make sure it stays in the Active Conversations list.

Finish your shortbread and get out there !

codswallop · 20/11/2003 10:41

codswallop · 20/11/2003 10:42

so your running partner is crap then? sack her

OP posts:
Northerner · 20/11/2003 10:47

Yeah she is crap. On a night the last thing I feel like is going out to run. HOw do motivate yourself?

And it's very dark, dh would worry if I ran on me lonesome. We live near fields and woods you see.

Twink · 20/11/2003 12:28

I focus on the calories it uses.. I also have quite a few friends who run so there's usually someone who will agree to come out.

We try to agree a time during the day and then not to ring later with an excuse - cos we always feel like staying in with a beer instead by 7pm.

Last night I'd arranged to run with a group so I persuaded a friend to collect me on her way; it helps that she's childless so has no understanding of the huge stack of excuses mums can produce.

tigermoth · 20/11/2003 13:48

I can understand not wanting to run alone in the evening, you need a running partner for that, but as for having a running partner in general, no I just couldn't do it!

I used to run with workmates, true, but now run alone - I like going at my own pace, stopping when I want - the whole relaxing side of running gets lost IME if you run with someone else.
