OP posts:
smee · 24/01/2012 14:50

Have you got a temperature Holsten?? If you have I'd say give them a call. If it's just low level, they'll go ahead. I had one when I had mastectomy and they didn't even blink.

holstenlips · 24/01/2012 14:56

No temp, no sore throat. Just snot overload. I'm going to olbas my head off.

smee · 24/01/2012 15:17

I'd say you'll be okay then. Be so annoying if you have to delay! Sorry I thought the op was today. Not sure where I got that from. Confused

amberlight · 24/01/2012 15:39

Herceptin was fine. We'll see what it does to me in the next couple of weeks. Also been to eye specialist with dh this afternoon and he's v happy with dh's eyes now after last week's emergency. Phew.

Brew all round, I think.

Good luck for tomorrow holsten!!

NedSchneebly · 24/01/2012 16:19

Have phoned my breast nurse and she said bath was fine, and would probably be good for me, so I am planning a long soak once DS is in bed. . . .mmmm. . .can't wait!

amber all good news for you today - fantastic!

holsten good luck tomorrow x x

Fbs snacks for this afternoon- amazing old school friend has sent me a box of phenomenal brownies, cos she said I was probably overloaded with flowers, and these would be something a bit different. . . I love her. . . Brew and brownie anyone?!

smee · 24/01/2012 16:25

Amber, I think you need a bit more than Brew. So pleased your DH's okay and you too of course. Smile

Ned, happy bath! Do brownies and baths go well together?? Smile

BackforGood · 24/01/2012 16:34

Drift - I finished my rads on 9th Jan and my next appt (Onc) is 15th Feb.
Ned - I much prefer baths, so I lay in the bath but kept my scar above the water, rather than soaking it - can easily be done if you don't fill too full.

After my 'halo' lunch yesterday, I treated myself to a bacon and egg sarnie in a caff today. Was scrummy - all the yolk ran out over my fingers and I got in a right mess Grin
Ned - re friends. People all react differently. It doesn't mean they don't care, it just means they don't know what you want them to do. Lots of people don't want to disturb you if you are resting, or think you don't want to talk about it, and repeat what's happening to you time and time again, so think they are helping by not calling you. Just get in touch and let them know how you are getting on.
Re hot hospitals - my room was pretty cool...everyone who came in (medical staff, cleaners, etc.) all shiverred and said "It's cold in here isn't it?". Twas just right for me, but I imagine a lot of people would have thought it cold. I presumed it was all to save a bit on the heating!

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/01/2012 17:25

good news about dh amber and let's hope the herceptin behaves.
Bath and brownies- enjoy them both ned !

marmitesandwiches · 24/01/2012 19:39

Evening all. Sorry have been slow at posting. I do try to lurk a bit on phone while toddler-taming but you're all so fast!

holsten welcome -though sorry that we've met on this thread. Best of luck for your op tomorrow. I hope you get lovely nurses who look after you.

ned enjoy bath + brownies. I had to avoid them for longer (while my new boob settled in Grin) but had first one last night - was utter bliss. Have also finally just managed a quick lie down on my side. Ahhhhh!!! I so hate lying on my back - but had been too uncomfortable up to now. Hope you are healing well.

Amber good news re herceptin - and great about dh. Am really pleased.

smee sounds like you had quite a full weekend with parents. Must be very difficult Sad.

Have only skipped through thread Blush so know I have missed people.

Thanks for all the b'day messages for mini-marmite btw he had a lovely day (hugely exhausting!). We have his party this weekend + 5 additional bodies sleeping here, including 7yo twins. Eek! Will be consoling myself with big slice b'day cake Grin.

pranma · 24/01/2012 21:41

Oh gosh just typed and lost a long post. I am worrying about a pain under my left shoulder blade-assumed it was muscular but read a post on a BC forum from someone with bone Mets. The pain sounds so similar that now I am terrified. Last time I saw surgeon in Oct for 5 yr check up he felt my spine etc and said all was well. How long should I wait? Its just been a few days. Does this ever stop? Why can't I put it down to normal ageing?

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/01/2012 22:18

pranma -a gentle hug from me- i think that you could speak to your bcn for advice about this- am sure it's most likely to be muscle pain or something like that- whenever I mention my hip pains to my friends they say it age related !It is so hard to know isn't it. Sorry not to be more helpful.
marmite eek -all those people staying ! Glad mini marmite had a lovely bday.
Special good thoughts to holsten for tomorrow.

OP posts:
smee · 24/01/2012 22:59

Oh Pranma, poor you. How long have you had the pain and is it consistent? If intermittent apparently that's a very good sign. I'd lay odds on muscular too, but don't let it gnaw away at you. Stay with us for a bit maybe? Could you try some gentle exercise maybe? I've had aching ribs since Christmas, but started swimming again to see if that helped and it really has. Pain's not totally gone, but quite often it's not there and has lessened the rest of the time. Was a massive relief, though I still can't stop myself questioning every ache.

Waving to marmite. Don't worry about keeping up, just drop in and say hi when you can. You've got a lot on after all. With that many people staying this weekend, you'll need more than cake. Grin

jchocchip · 24/01/2012 23:06

nighty night everyone. I've been asleep in the living room, oops. Guess I was tired. Must remember bath and brownies combo for the future :)

topsyturner · 24/01/2012 23:50

Don't be worrying yourself pranma . Get on the phone to your BCN and ask her advice .
I convince myself that every headache is a brain tumour , I know how you feel . But if it is worrying you , then I would definitely get it checked out .
A phone call and maybe an appointment to see your Onc is the least you are owed for peace of mind !

Good luck for tomorrow holsten . Really hope it goes smoothly for you .

Restocked on the choccie croissants this evening if anyone is around for breakfast tomorrow ?

amberlight · 25/01/2012 07:30

Ooo me!! I'll have a choc croissant!!

Morning all. How are you all? Brew ?

topsyturner · 25/01/2012 09:00

Passes Amber begrudgingly a choccie croissant Grin

NedSchneebly · 25/01/2012 09:33

I still have brownies, topsy - wanna swap?

Bath last night was lovely, although it was not a dignified sight, seeing me trying to get out of the bloody thing. Blush

Big hugs to pranma

amber I hope you're feeling OK this morning?

Underarm bit bloody hurts this morning - boooooooo. Maybe linked to hormones, as had raging PMT weepiness last night. I thought the pain was supposed to get better, not worse. . . Confused

Have made an appointment to see DSs teacher on Monday - he got sent out of the classroom for talking during Show and Tell on Monday afternoon. . . . he is not quite 4 and a half. . . [shocked] I think the problem is that he is quite bright, and needs pushing. He is like a sponge at home for learning stuff, especially anything to do with numbers. I hope he's not getting naughty cos he's bored. . .

Sorry, boasty proud mummy moment Blush

Hope everyone else doing OK this morning?

pranma · 25/01/2012 09:37

Thank you so much for the support. The pain is intermittent and I have had it for a week. If it hadn't been for the post on bcpals. I wouldn't be so bothered. My bcn has retired now but if I needs to. I am sure the hospital would put me in touch with someone else. Thanks for your support.

smee · 25/01/2012 10:06

pranma, a week's not very long and if it's intermittent, I'd say it's not secondaries. My Onc told me any pain which is constant, keeps you awake at night and needs pain killers is a worry. Anything which comes and goes is probably nothing to do with cancer.

Ned, aw bright boy sounds sweet. Is it a strict school? Can't imagine many four year olds can sit still all the time on the carpet. Smile

Hope Holsten gets through okay. Did she say how long she'd be in for?

Meant to say, but I PM'd Pink a few days ago and still haven't had a reply. Maybe she's not mums netting at all now. Can't think how else to get in touch with her.

Right, had better get on with some work. Wishing you all a lovely day. Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 25/01/2012 10:26

Just running through to light a candle for Holsten, and to give Pranma a big hug.

Tax return calling.......

smee · 25/01/2012 10:39

Ooh scary Sometimes. Have done mine. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/01/2012 11:09

me too (smug too)
sometimes and ned - am about to go and work on your commissions !

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 25/01/2012 12:39

MAS and smee - I KNEW you would have Envy

my belated New Year's Resolution is not to leave this crap grownup stuff until the last minute in future.

KurriKurri · 25/01/2012 13:03

Coming on quickly to light a candle for Holsten - and wish her loads of luck, - hopefully she has already had her op. and is back on the ward having tea and toast Smile

Hugs for you pranma - I have to say that every time I read or see something about secondaries I start to worry about my aches and pains, - it is very natural. You can ask to speak to any BCN, - doesn't have to be the one you had originally, and you can have a good chat, or get an appointment to see someone. It is worth it to put your mind at rest, - you know there are loads and loads of other things that could cause shoulder pain apart from secondaries - hold on to that thought, but get someone medical to reassure you Smile

Ned - your little boy sounds bright as a button, and he might well be bored, - I have to say IME show and tell can be hard work especially for little boys - sitting still that long is quite a strain. I don't think he's really naughty - just being a 4 year old boy!

Hope everyone else is fine - I am determined not to write any epic posts today - in case I scare anyone off with my ramblings Grin

I am feeling very very tired, - had to cancel going to yoga today, I think it is a combo of my thyroid playing up (while their still in the process of adjusting my medication - think it might have gone a bit under again) and feeling emotional - was walking round the kitchen this morning with tears running down my face Sad

Took my mind of things by bathing the dog - much to her disgust, - she is in her basket giving me evils Grin

smee · 25/01/2012 13:26

Oh Kurri Some days are just blue, especially when you're physically under par. Are you going to get back to the GP?
