Have confirmed MAS Smile

Gusset! Grin ! I am clearly infantile and childish too!

Sometimesiwonder · 12/01/2012 11:32

Oh the glamour of BC, topsy. But at least it gave us a bona fide use of the word gusset Grin

Cletter is nice, never heard that one before.....

Thinking of Sun for Monday and Camel for tomorrow, and ned for Wednesday. Candles will be lit.

KurriKurri · 12/01/2012 11:35

ned - love your little boy showing the ropes at his school Grin

topsy Grin at surgical pants crop top - you old fashionista you!

talking of clothes - DH and I have been invited to a party next week at some venue in the city. It says 'dress smart' - do you think my maxi dress I wore to the wedding I went to would be OK - or is maxi too over dressed? Would trousers and a nice top (sort of floaty chiffony thing) be too casual ? It's a DH work thing, I don't really want to go, - I won't know anyone and they'll all be young and glam.

smee · 12/01/2012 11:37

Grin at Topsy with pants round her oxter! Hooray for that being done with though. You'll heal fast am sure. Smile

Glad DS is done with his exam, MAS. Wonder how it went..

Cletter's good - will adopt that. Am liking 'vocketing' too. Smile

Ned, is this befriending FB? Join the Tamoxifen Ten - we don't use it much, but it's nice to be there. If I spot you, I'll befriend Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/01/2012 11:42

have put ned on tamoxifen ten !
I am about to cletter now,in fact...while the clothes are being clettered...my parents say it too.

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/01/2012 11:44

kk your dress will be lovely, though trousers and floaty top is a good option- I am hopeless at smart dressing. I always think some nice accessory is a good thing- hair ornaments or some nice drapery.

OP posts:
NedSchneebly · 12/01/2012 11:55

All befriending would be lovely Smee !

Its noon already- not sure where the morning has gone!?

Sometimesiwonder · 12/01/2012 12:03

KK I am thinking the dress would be great. I'm never too sure about trousers at a 'dress smart' - suppose it depends on the trousers really. Bur definitely the dress would be perfect.

Don't all go off and cletter. It'll make me feel inadequate.

Don't know what's going on with dd at the moment. She's not herself at all since the bug she had, and all her weird anxieties and things seem to be worse than normal, she looks pale and washed out, anxious about school camps and things that aren't for months and she doesnt have to do if she doesn't want to anyway..... Between her and the super-stressed dh, frankly, I could tear my hair out. I'm sure life doesn't need to be so painful Hmm

smee · 12/01/2012 12:14

Too late Sometimes, MAS is away clettering. I am exempt from such nonsense as it's my birthday, so am gnawing on the remains of Christmas Cake. Does take a bit of gnawing too. Does that count as exercise? Smile

What a worry about your DD. Could it be start of term and unsettled by your DH / Christmas maybe? My DS was awful last week - totally exhausted, grumpy and over wrought. He's chirped up now and is fine again.

Kurri, what would you feel most comfortable in? That's the answer I reckon. I too am useless at clothes and dressing up. Am most happy in a pair of jeans, and even those have holes in. Shock

Sometimesiwonder · 12/01/2012 12:24

Thanks Smee. Maybe she'll pick up too. I have given her the hard word - told her not to bother shouting after she goes to bed (it's EVERY night) because she just needs to keep quiet and go to sleep, I am not coming unless she is in mortal danger. And she can't go to her science club thing on monday night unless she gets some decent sleep between now and then. Strangely, last night, this worked Hmm But she still went in to school in an odd mood. Your description of your ds last week does sound just like her, I must say.

Ah, smart clothes. I remember them. Now it's trackie bottoms all the way for me. So comfy while typing. Pretty unflattering though.

KurriKurri · 12/01/2012 12:25

Well really I am pleased for votes for the dress, - because I feel less fat in the dress (it covers a multitude Grin) Will have to find a shrug or something to cover my bingo wings.

Sorry DD is anxious Sometimes, - maybe she is still recovering from the bug - they can really knock you for six, poor mite.

No clettering here Grin

topsyturner · 12/01/2012 12:28

kk would you like to borrow a pair of my crop top pants for your do ?
I have a carrier bag full of them ...?

smee · 12/01/2012 12:31

Ooh definitely sounds similar, Sometimes. I've had to be stern about calling out too. I was despairing last week as DS wouldn't go to sleep - would be still awake at 11!. He was also waking two or three times every night. Was even beginning to think I should take him to the Doctor, though I knew he wasn't ill, just exhausted. Not at all sure why, but he's getting back to normal again now. Hasn't woken in the night for the past 2 nights, and is getting to sleep earlier too. Hope your DD does similar.

KurriKurri · 12/01/2012 12:32

Now there's an idea topsy - surgical knicker-chic, it could really catch on Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 12/01/2012 12:45

In case you decide against the surgical pants KK, you had a very nice shrug for that do you went to a while back, what happened to that (sorry to kibosh any shopping plans).

DS and DD sounding more and more similar, Smee. The sleep thing is way out of control here at the moment - hence the withdrawal of support. I got the feeling we weren't helping with the anxiety, we were feeding it. So now I'm being all brisk and Mallory Towers Grin

smee · 12/01/2012 12:51

I've taken the same route. Not sure if I'm Mallory Towers or Joyce Grenfell. Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 12/01/2012 13:14
Grin

So what did we think, then, after the second Edwin Drood? I enjoyed it but i think it would have done better if it had been given a third hour. Some bits seemed a bit rushed for my poor tired brain.......God knows what they all saw in that scrawny washed-out looking Rosa, though. She looked like she could do with a chip batch once in a while.

smee · 12/01/2012 13:49

I have still to watch. Got distracted last night be work, so didn't watch the first ep even. Will look out for woman who needs chips though. Grin

KurriKurri · 12/01/2012 14:02

Thank you Sometimes Smile - I'd forgotten about that shrug -I'll check if it goes colourwise, if so I'll def. wear that (if not I'll wear topsy's pants Grin). - Rumour has it there will be a band and dancing

I haven't watched the second part of ED yet either - will have to watch on i-player - since the digital switch over, we can't watch one thing and record a different thing, which is most annoying (why would you want to record a programme you are already watching?)

What has that Rosa woman been in? - she looks very familiar.

Sometimesiwonder · 12/01/2012 14:21

Dunno, don't think I have ever seen her before. She looks like a puff of wind would knock her over.

Embarrassing confession - I thought the actor who played Mr Bazzard was rather gorgeous (you'll need to wait for ep 2 to see him) Blush

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/01/2012 14:26

I have clettered ! Am going to think of ideas for new commission- it's quite tricky though...ds has to go to a choreography after school thing for his choir-to hone their 'kerb appeal' as the head of music says. Ds not keen.
Poor dd something - might well be the aftermath of her bug.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 12/01/2012 14:26

SOMETIMES not something - grrrr

OP posts:
Figgyroll · 12/01/2012 14:31

Afternoon all. I'm still giggling at Topsy's attire - I hope you've got a 'cover up' for answering the door? Grin Sorry about the blistering though. It'll soon heal up and go pink again.

Happy Birthday wishes to our dear Smee, hope you're having a wonderful 21st Smile.

Welcome to Sun - good luck for Monday.

Good luck too, to all the exam peeps and to Camel for tomorrow and Ned on Monday.

KK I'm sure your dress would be considered 'smart', as would black trousers and a floaty top but just go with whatever you feel best in. I'm another one who's not very good at dressing for an occasion. In the past I've been overdressed for some things and underdressed for others, it's a nightmare and I'm glad I haven't got any 'occasions' to go to for a few months (and so is DH too probably).

Guess what? I've got the oven cleaner man in again. What a fine job he's doing, slaving away in my kitchen while I play on here. He charges £55 for a double oven and, my goodness, he's got his work cut out today. Blush I hope he's finished by 4 as I'm up to the nurse again to be 'dressed'. I shall mention Topsy's surgical knicker adaptation and give her a laugh Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 12/01/2012 14:35

Ooh I wish I'd clettered Envy

Mind you I have just breathed a bit of a sigh of relief: we've had our first collection of recycling since before Christmas - phew - so now I can empty all the overflowing bins in the office and the bedrooms. I hate it when you have nowhere to put anything. We generate more paper waste than anyone else in our little road.

DD''ll be alright I think. She went to footie training last night and came home in floods of tears because someone wanted to take her photo - she didn't want to, so she cried, then she did want to, so he came back, then she didn't, so she cried again..... You get the picture. Flaming Nora. I am sure she'll be OK soon - in the meantime it's proving an interesting test of my limited patience and few parenting skills Grin
