Oh and happy, contact your child's form tutor or head of year if you need a hand with options. They should be able to give a bit of guidance.

surewoman · 14/03/2012 22:34

Hi Fen - my ultrasound was abdominal, mainly to look at ovaries/fibroids/uterus/endometriosis/adhesions etc. and anything else that might be lurking inside. Mind you, my original surgeon hadn't even looked at the results of the scan before the op and a month later only then when I asked if anything had shown up, at which point he said 'oh, who did you have the scan through!' (you, you FUB!). I think it also shows if you have a uterine prolapse. Are you definately having a hysterectomy?
Hope you're feeling better now? X

happy2beme · 14/03/2012 22:42

Hi Fengirl - I had abdominal, had to do the full bladder thing....... Dah!! was there cause cant hold my own water literally xxx wanted to cry had to beg her to finish scanning as I was just about to pee her couch..... that would be the second one I have SPRAYED XX Grin xx I know that the govt guidlines have to rule out anything suspicous when there has been any bleeding outwith your periods x try not to worry , I know this is very difficult when you dont have support and cant discuss this at home but hopefully we will be able to give some reassurance on here xx
I have already spoke to form teacher and head of school but they will not budge and allow the kids to take 3 sciences , education policy Angry feel as though academia has gone, they actually have a column for expressive arts so she has been forced to choose from music/art/PE instead of a third science xx in some respects it would have been easier if she was not so bright xx anyway thanks for the info and stay strong xxxx

surewoman · 15/03/2012 16:19

Happy - have you tried exploring her doing the 3rd science at/through another school if possible? My DS1 did Spanish through a school down the road as an extra and he just trotted along for the exam and back up lessons and did the main work at home. Actually was ok and he seemed to cope quite well... Seems a shame if she is science based to limit her studies and I don't think it causes any problems for them to enter through another school? xxx Just a thought...

fengirl1 · 15/03/2012 17:11

Hi, thanks for the info re ultrasound. Sounds like I should be prepared for both eventualities... (At least until I know which) I have opted to have a hysterectomy as I have a grade 2 prolapse as well as cystocele and rectocele - the whole lot's falling apart and trying to escape! I could have had a repair but I won't be sorry to see the back of it - endometriosis, then infertility and still having very painful periods (I wake up in the night with belly button to knees in pain) so I think it's time to say goodbye after 36 years of periods! Feeling much better physically today altho still a few shooting pains in the region of my hoohaa. Still SO kicking myself for not asking why he decided on ultrasound now. I know about the NICE guidelines, but a biopsy should be enough and honestly I don't trust a word anymore after being lied to before about guidelines and my op not being brought forward. Trying very hard to be patient and not stew but he really didn't help when I piped up that spotting was quite normal for peri-menopausal women and he informed me he had a 48 yo last week with uterine cancer....
Ho hum, such is life!
Happy - its not uncommon for schools to offer after school classes if there's enough demand. You could ask around and find out if there are other kids who would like to do triple.

CAZ1958 · 15/03/2012 17:15

Caz you are not being a wuss! I had surgery at the end of November and I am still tired and sometimes am in pain. Scar tissue takes AGES to settle down and so does the swelling. Have you got a good physio who can help you with some exercises to gradually rebuild your strength? I know everyone harps on about pilates, and it is true that pilates can be enormously helpful. But you need specialist rehab advice, you can't just launch straight into a normal class, even a beginners one. And even if you'd done loads of pilates beforehand. Not suggesting that you have been or that you would, but felt like a useful comment to make - so hope you don;t mind me hijacking this reply a bit!

Rest as much as you can, when you can. Sounds like a long time to be on your feet.

Caz - everyone heals at their own rate! You should definitely see your gp a) to make sure nothing's going on and b) so you can tell everyone you're still entitled to be tired and knackered!
Take care. X

cardamomginger · 15/03/2012 19:06

Yikes - yes! If you have not had at least 1 check up with the surgeon who did the operation, you should have one! When was your last check-up (if you had one)? Personally, Id badger the surgeon for an appointment, rather than the GP, if you are able to.

CAZ1958 · 15/03/2012 19:24

Thankyou ALL...

My consultant released me to work on 9/3.... I saw him 4wks previously. Work has been great with stopping me lifting as much as they can etc

My lower back is caning now...has done everyday since going back to work but worse today....but now I am in bed to the point of wanting to take tablets !!! Won't do this...well, might !!! Christ I have only worked a week !!!

I hoped that I could carry on as normal after all this....really struggling now.
This feels just like before the op but without the physical bits dropping out !!!
Sorry TMI but just want to get on with my life again now.

Hi Caz I am about 18ks post op and still off work have seen both GP and cons and neither were that fussed about forcing me back to work xx I am on my feet for 12hrs at least at work and Even the management have been very accomidating and understanding about what a major op this is. I see the consultant next week and I have provisionally said I will return to work at end of easter hols and use my annual leave for phased return and in conjuction with only working night shifts I am hoping I will cope, so if anybody is a woos I am. I defo could not have physically made a return to work at 13wks too sore and tired xxx dont beat yourself up xx

fengirl1 · 15/03/2012 22:38

Well ladies you have all just picked me up off the floor again! I feel very lucky I have found this thread and don't know what I would have done without it. There's so much compassion, honesty, help and most of all humour. I've just been reading back through most of it and feel a little ashamed that I feel so sorry for myself at times compared with what some posters are going through. BUT I also feel reassured that once I'm fixed I might get my life back... For instance, the weird feeling in my legs (I can't cross them anymore) and the waking up with horrible backache like someone's creased me in half in the night - all normal!!!
Although I don't know any of you personally you've helped me tremendously so thank you.
I hope that those ladies who have disappeared have found answers too, or are on the road to them.
Big hugs to all. Xxx

fengirl1 · 15/03/2012 22:40

P.S. My last post has nothing at all to do with the fact I've just discovered a bottle of wine in the cupboard I didn't know was there - honest! Smile

fengirl1 · 16/03/2012 09:15

Caz - how are you feeling today?

fengirl1 · 16/03/2012 17:48

Sorry - back again! Personal question alert.... Remember reading on here about some posters having to wait for BM's to 'come round the corner' which happens to me. Anyway, I'm taking lactulose which does the trick of stopping things getting too firm Blush, but find that despite going once or twice a day ( but not properly iyswim BlushBlush) over the course of four or five days I get really bloated and then my gut goes mad and decides to go mad and get rid, accompanied by lots of churning and a sound similar to distant thunder! Happening again today (7 times so far) BlushBlushBlush. Sad
Does this happens to anyone else? Any advice? (Please!)

jackie62 · 16/03/2012 19:30

Fen, somewhere way back I said about roughage and stuff, I think it tends to work but would say that I have had to alter my 'formula' a little bit with figs, dates and dried cranberries. This seems to be pretty good. Good luck with it.
Caz, I feel the same. I am about eleven weeks post second op, possibly overdoing it a bit which happens doesn't it! Once you start driving again everyone forgets anything has happened. I found yoga particularly challenging on Thursday and suffered for it later. I have found myself yearning to go to bed with a hot water bottle and a paracetomol.
Xx

likestoski · 17/03/2012 13:49

Hello all!
Came home from hospital thursday evening. Nice to be back in own bed.
Well I had my op tuesday - rectocele repair. Came round and they said I had catheter and vag pack in. They said I was in theatre for 2 hours - thought that was strange as only had minor op done. Anyhow it turns out the surgeon found an enterocele and my bladder had started to prolapse so he repaired all 3 at the same time - ouch!! Def need a rubber ring to sit on!! Not had bowel movement yet but been sent home with lactulose and been eating lots of fruit and veg! Have been re reading posts re advice
Had spinal and GA and really only paracetamol afterwards. Feeling very tired but not grumpy and hormonal like when I had hysterectomy!! Husband is more grumpy than me as he the 2 girls to look after!!! Am determined not to end up back in theatre so will take all advice given and rest rest rest this time!!!

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 17/03/2012 14:26

Fengirl I am exactly like you in terms of BM. I have lost 8 lb in weight but my waist measurement is at least 3 inches bigger. I actually did a pg test at one point as I looked 5-6 months pg. I have lactulose but the doc gave me laxido which is quite good. Also have prune juice. I haven't found anything that sorts me out properly IYSWIM. Hopefully when there isn't a "corner" for it to come round it will all be easier.

Rest up liketoski :) My op is next Monday so will be recovering with you.

AllOverIt · 17/03/2012 15:15

Hi there ladies. I have just been directed here by Footle. I started my own thread about my recent diagnosis. I've just cut and paste it from my thread.

I've just been diagnosed with a mild to moderate prolapsed bladder by my GP, and been referred to a gynaecologist for more investigation. I'm 34 and have had two vaginal deliveries, my first was a forceps delivery, my second was 'normal' but with a third degree tear and stage 2 uterine prolapse.

I have all the usual symptoms, including some quite inconvenient ones. Put it this way, my trampolining days are over!

My GP, who specialises in gynaecology was so lovely, and said that I would be a good candidate for surgery (healthy weight, non-smoker, good age and fitness etc). She was not suggesting that the gynaecologist would definitely go down that route, she was just letting me know some of the treatment that may happen.

I've never even broken a bone, let alone had any op or GA. I'm a little nervous of surgery. Just wanted to ask if there's anyone out there who's had the surgery, and the quality of your life (and sex life!) afterwards.

Thanks, in advance.

AllOverIt · 17/03/2012 15:16

Forgot to say, that I may also have a uterine prolapse, but not sure at the moment. I don't want to have a hysterectomy as there is a chance we might want more children.

FiveHoursSleep · 17/03/2012 15:22

Has anyone had any 'women's physiotherapy' and found that helped at all? I'm having some at the moment and have been issued with a periform but I can hardly get the bloody thing to move at all.
I'm only a couple of weeks in though and the physio said that it will take at least a month or two.

AllOverIt · 17/03/2012 15:24

I had it after my third degree tear, fivehours. It worked really well at tightening up my back passage Blush, but did nothing at the front where my prolapse is. That's why the GP has referred me to the gynae, rather than physio as I'm pretty good at doing my pelvic floor now...

FiveHoursSleep · 17/03/2012 15:28

I've already seen the urogynae, who has diagnose me with a mild to moderate bladder prolapse and a moderate to severe rectocoele.
She doesn't want to operate yet as she says that there are often problems with sex after surgery and going by the posts on here, this does seem to be quite common.

AllOverIt · 17/03/2012 15:31

Really? Mind you, we have problems now, so I'm not sure what's worse really. TMI - but it bulges in quite far so it can be really uncomfortable Sad Blush
