Spacecadet has asked me to get everyone who was concerned about her know, that she was admitted to hospital last night. she is currently in MAU, where she will be for up 48 hours depending on how she responds to treatment. She had another chest x-ray and is on IV antibiotics and also a drip as she was dehydrated. She has asked me to say thankyou to everyone who was concerned about her.

Well ring the au pair people now and at least things will be in motion, when you speak to her.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/01/2006 11:58

Borrow/buy an air bed and evict one or more of your kids.

Why are men so lousy at thinking on their feet ??

Gizmo · 09/01/2006 12:00

Bah. Foiled.

Mr SC, sorry to be a pain, but I obviously have the wrong name. I've just CAT'd you - if you could let me know what name she was admitted under then I'd like to organise something nice for her.

Cheers.

spacecadetshusband · 09/01/2006 12:01

Gizmo, thats a lovely offer, I do know though that they dont allow flowers in the MAU, "in case of infection", they did indicate though that as soon as she responds to the anti-biotics she will be home, I dont think they have any intention of moving her to a ward.

Yikes, only just read this, didn't realise SC was poorly hope she gets better soon!!

expatinscotland · 09/01/2006 12:03

Why are men so lousy at thinking on their feet ??

I wonder this often, LadySherlock.

Thought it was just DH that was the most un-resourceful creature I'd come across.

Guess not.

Gizmo · 09/01/2006 12:03

Double foiled!!!. I shall just have to put my MRSA-araniums away, then

spruceylucy5 · 09/01/2006 12:05

Too faraway to really help but just wanted to say get well soon!

spacecadetshusband · 09/01/2006 12:09

MRSA!! E is always going on about that, its all she talked about when she was a nurse!
You are very kind Gizmo, what meanies the hospitals are not allowing flowers, I noticed you are in Cambridge, she isnt in Addenbrookes, she wont go near the place because she worked there.

babster · 09/01/2006 12:09

Opportunity Links can help you find childcare - this page is for the Ely area, inc. villages.
I am in Cambridge too, not far from the hospital, and could help with food, laundry, perhaps entertaining little ones. CAT me if so.
In the meantime, please ask EVERYONE for help - school, nursery, GP surgery, parents of your kids' friends - church too, if you have any connection. It's amazing how someone always knows someone who babysits, cleans etc. Good luck!

babster · 09/01/2006 12:10

Oops. Not in Addenbrookes - missed that.

spacecadetshusband · 09/01/2006 12:12

well the woman over the road is a registered childminder, she has a little boy at school with our little boy, so the kids do know her, I wonder if its worth approaching her.

OP posts:
charliecat · 09/01/2006 12:13

Yep...get over there now

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/01/2006 12:14

Are you still here ??

If the Childminder can't help you she will know someone who can.

GOGOGO

spacecadetshusband · 09/01/2006 12:14

I cant believe Im posting on MUMSNET!, I am contantly telling my wife to get off it!
anyway, I must go and get lunch for our little girl, I will keep you all posted and I will let E know you are all thinking of her and thanks again everyone.

Gizmo · 09/01/2006 12:14

Mr SC, that would explain why they sounded a bit puzzled when I asked for her...

Ah, Addenbrookes - it's amazing how many people I know who work there suddenly develop a pressing desire to go to Hinchingbrooke or Papworth when they're not feeling too good .

Now, I have a shepherds pie in the freezer for you lot(although it will need padding with lots of vegetables to do six). I can either leave it in Ely town centre for the ducks, or you can CAT me (turns out I can't CAT you because you have declined email from Mumsnet) and tell me where you want me to leave it.

If you'd like to maintain anonymity, just suggest a 'drop box' Len Deighton stylee and I'll leave it there

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/01/2006 12:17

Aha

Another DH (Darling Husband) who finally gets MN.

puff · 09/01/2006 12:53

phew! Just caught up with this - very relieved that sc is where she needs to be and hopefully gets to convalesce properly when she gets out. Not easy to arrange we know Mr Spacey, but essential. I did mention my mate who ended up in hospital for 10 days with pnemonia and 2 months later is still needing to take things easy.

codthemod · 09/01/2006 12:53
