Spacecadet has asked me to get everyone who was concerned about her know, that she was admitted to hospital last night. she is currently in MAU, where she will be for up 48 hours depending on how she responds to treatment. She had another chest x-ray and is on IV antibiotics and also a drip as she was dehydrated. She has asked me to say thankyou to everyone who was concerned about her.

her mum lives in wales, hence the move up there, its frustrating that E has to stay here alone to sell the house, not an ideal situation, I dont think shes going to cope on her own, not now shes ill.

Oh my goodness, I've missed all this! SC's Husband, thanks for updating and I am so sorry you and SC are going through all this just now. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

BudaBabe · 09/01/2006 11:20

I know SC's Mum lives in Wales but could she not come and stay for a while?

Adn I think I remember that your older children are in secondary - def old enough to help out.

spacecadetshusband · 09/01/2006 11:24

her mum is one of those people who doesnt like to stray too far from her own front door, if we were up in wales, shed come evryday then go home again, but she wont leave her husband and come down here for a week, and also she wont drive herself all the way down here either.

I cant really take time off before even starting my new job! there isnt any house stuff to sort out yet as we have to sell our house first, hence E staying here, to sell the house.

the children are 14,11,4 and 17 months, the eldest leave the house at 7.00 to catch the bus, so cant help in the mornings, also we have been having a lot of trouble with the eldest, who would probably threaten to ring childline if asked to help in the evenings!

Hello all

a) I can guess which hossie SC is in. If Mr SC thinks it might give her a lift, I can organise some flowers/card/something else nice for SC and drop it off this evening?

b) Mr SC, I'm in Cambridge. I know Mrs SC is a bit dubious about 'imposing' on other people, but I'm happy to cook a few meals, perhaps take the kids out to the park on a weekend for the next few weeks?

Trouble is, I work full time, so for full time support (which may be what Mrs SC will need) you might want to look for some sort of temporary 'mothers' help'. I can recommend a few local agencies who might be able to help you out there, if that helps?

Let me know. Mumsnet can put you in direct contact with me if you ask them to CAT me.

codthemod · 09/01/2006 11:38

yes cgizzer deffo

monster flowers

codthemod · 09/01/2006 11:38

gpoppo are you trying to fob off your troublesome dd? arf

PrincessPeaHead · 09/01/2006 11:39

au pair. cost you about £80 per week. plus she will live with you.

this is a very good agency , phone them up, tell them exactly what is going on, tell them that she will be convalescing so needs someone smart capable and fairly proactive, not a limp 17yo who will just be an additional child in the family. They will help you.

MarsLady · 09/01/2006 11:43

glad to hear that she's finally in hospital.

Now CaribbeanQueen had said that she would cook a meal, though I know that spacey told her not to bother.

So... time to restart that thread methinks!

spacecadetshusband · 09/01/2006 11:44

an au pair seems the best option, ive always wanted an au pair! seriously though, we are a bit skint but if it were just for a couple of weeks or so, it might be an idea.

have you got any freezer room?

Gizmo · 09/01/2006 11:45

So, a monster bunch of flowers with the message:

'See - we told you you were ill! - Mumsnet'

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/01/2006 11:47

Yes and on the other side,

Make sure the payback is expensive.

PrincessPeaHead · 09/01/2006 11:51

I think you normally need to sign them up for 4 months or so, but if you speak to the agency they may find you someone on a more temporary emergency measure (someone in between jobs, eg). Will prob cost you a bit more per week pro rata though.

Phone them up though, they are very sympathetic to desperate dads and ill mums!

spacecadetshusband · 09/01/2006 11:55

I will be going to see her this afternoon, once I have picked up our youngest son from school.
