Is extreme tiredness a side effect of taking one of these? I took one this morning and I can barely my eyes open. I could have slept at half two and now I just want to sleep.

Yes it is,I took one and slept for 14hrs.

It's strong stuff!

Saltire · 14/11/2011 19:52

They have the opposite effect with me - I feel like I've had 10 cans of red bull, my eyes and brain are wide awake, my heart starts going fast. last time I took 2, laong wth my usual meds I was downstairs ironing at 3am!

Do you take anything else that could be making you sleepy?

mosschops30 · 14/11/2011 19:57

Yes, has very strong sedative effect, they wipe me out, i would take two then be conpletely spaced for hours.

TheOriginalFAB · 14/11/2011 19:58

I haven't felt like this is a long time and I only take an AD in the morning. I hope I don't have to take another one. I was yawning on the way home from school and my eye went all weird on me. Very scary when I was driving and it was foggy.

yes, definitely. I was prescribed them, but would only take if DH was home as they are so strong. Good for pain relief though.

TheOriginalFAB · 14/11/2011 20:13

I took them 6 hours before I had to drive but I won't be taking them again unless I really have too. I have to have an ECG soon and hope it comes back fine as I don't want any more tablets to take or illnesses to deal with.

Saltire · 14/11/2011 20:15

I take mine alongside co-codamol, and naproxen and amitryptiline, so you'd think they would knock me out but they don't. I never take them unless DH is home too, they scare me, the way they make me feel. he's away for 6 months next year though so I'd better get used to them

TheOriginalFAB · 14/11/2011 20:18

I had to take 2 last night as one didn't do anything.

I hate them, they make me constipated, give me gut ache and make me wired, can't sleep if I've taken one.

VivaLeBeaver · 14/11/2011 20:28

When I first started takmg them they'd make me feel very sleepy. Then after a few weeks they had the opposite effect and I'd be pacing the house at 3:00am with a horrible feeling in my chest and some weird sense of urgency almost feeling manic. It used to give me horrible crampy, burning sensation in my biceps.

I take tramadol when my pancreatitis flares up - normally 2, 4 times a day. I've found that the worse the pain is, the less dozy and floaty I feel, and if I take them just before bed, I have problems getting a decent sleep, have really weird dreams and wake at the slightest noise (despite ear plugs).

TheOriginalFAB · 15/11/2011 11:10

How long does the tiredness last for as it is more than 24 hours since I took the last one and I just want to sleeeep.

OP posts:
Becaroooo · 15/11/2011 11:12

I was totally spaced out on them...couldnt open my eyes!!!! Very horrid.

TheSmallPrint · 15/11/2011 11:14

They don't affect me at all but I was warned by the pharmacist that they would. They don't take the pain away either. Perhaps I am immune to their charm Grin

HippyHippopotamus · 15/11/2011 11:16

they are also very very addictive so only take them if you really have to!

TheOriginalFAB · 15/11/2011 11:19

I am definitely not taking them again! I have been getting my mojo back and I can't stand feeling like this.

OP posts:
Bearskinwoolies · 15/11/2011 14:50

Hippy - they are addictive for some people, but it is only a few.

They work differently for everyone, and for some - like TheSmallPrint, don't appear to work at all.

The damn things can knock you sideways however, and the side effects are different for everyone. The tiredness can last a day or so, or they can make you hyper. Personally, I've found if I take them for longer than a few days I have memory problems, start to experience mild paranoia, and (TMI) am completely unable to orgasm.
