Is extreme tiredness a side effect of taking one of these? I took one this morning and I can barely my eyes open. I could have slept at half two and now I just want to sleep.

oooh yes, good stuff tramadol! I cant drive or do very much when i have had them in the past.

OhYouBadBadkitten · 15/11/2011 20:13

They do odd things to me - they make my body sleepy but my brain races away. I darent try them again as I'm on amitriptyline too and I have no idea what the effect would be.
At night Amitriptyline + naproxen = a well rested badkitten :)

Saltire · 15/11/2011 20:13

It's strange how so many of us have such opposite reactions to them. Someone else mentioned feeling wired after them - well that's me, but I think I'm going to need to take 2 tonight, along with the co-codamola dn amitryptiline! I'll be on here at 3am

OhYouBadBadkitten · 15/11/2011 20:47

:( I hope you do manage to get some rest.

Lisatheonewhoeatsdrytoast · 15/11/2011 20:49

I take them, i do get days where i can't open my eyes and yawn constantly oo and i feel like i'm floating/dizzy!!!

pipsy76 · 15/11/2011 20:58

As a pharmacist I would advise to to check the patient information leaflet for tramadol and your antidepressant as there is often an increased risk of central nervous system side effect when the 2 are taken in combination

VivaLeBeaver · 15/11/2011 23:13

How would the central nervous system be affected, could it explain the funny arm pains I get, and palpataions?

VivaLeBeaver · 15/11/2011 23:15

Saltire, the pain team told me to choose between co codamol and tramadol and not to take both together. They said they generally wouldn't advise both.

I've dropped the tramadol. I take amyltriptelene as well. And gabypentin and morphine.

VivaLeBeaver · 15/11/2011 23:16

And when I told my gp the tramadol was making me wired his advice was just to take more amytriptelene to knock me out. Hmm

I stopped last week. Haven't noticed any effects of withdrawing yet but I started taking a load more stuff so maybe that cancelled it all out. I'm badly constipated but that's it.

Solo · 15/11/2011 23:24

They gave me hideous indigestion. I will never take another one.

Solo · 15/11/2011 23:26

I had the indigestion for about 5/6 hours and my Mum thought I was having a heart attack.

Saltire · 16/11/2011 09:15

viva I did query this with GP - after reading patient info leaflet - and was told I'd be fine.Hmm
My meds doses are
citalopram - 30mg in the morning
co-codamol - 2 4 times a day
naproxen -2 twice a day
and amitryptiline 50mg, at night
plus Rheumy consultant wants to increase my amytrptiline to 100mg at night and my citalopram to 75mg in the morning.

Plus I also take 3 lots of HBP meds

VivaLeBeaver · 16/11/2011 10:15

Saltire, the impression I got wasn't that it was dangerous, but just that it was the most effective combination. Have you asked for a referral to the pain management team? I found it really helpful.

TheOriginalFAB · 16/11/2011 11:02

I was so exhausted this morning I couldn't work out how to get up. I am considering going to see my osteopath if I carry on getting shoulder, back and arm pain.

TheSmallPrint · 16/11/2011 11:09

Viva I have taken both Tramadol and Co Codamol together Blush. I think it must be the mixing with other medicines that is having such an effect on you Saltire.

JaneFeestelijkBierdekijn · 16/11/2011 11:21

My friend took one last week and it made her sick for hours and feel very wiped out.

Hope you feel better soon and I second the not driving

pipsy76 · 16/11/2011 17:06

Saltire the citalopram license has changed this week and doses above 40mg are no longer recommended due to QT interval elongation, I would strongly suggest you question a dose of 75mg, I certainly would if I encountered it at work! Plus I hope you ran this combination with the herbal meds past a pharmacist!

Saltire · 16/11/2011 18:36

pipsy - I don't take any herbal meds

I am seeing ym GP on friday am so will have a chat with her. The regsitrar in Rheumatology wanted to stop co-codamol and anpronaproxen and try me on pregablin but consultant said no

pipsy76 · 16/11/2011 19:09

Oops I thought you were using HBP as an abbreviation for herbal, I guess you mean high blood pressure meds?

Good idea to discuss the citalopram with your gp.

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 16/11/2011 19:18

I have had a number of different reactions to Tramadol, and agree that the withdrawal can be pretty horrific.

That said, I've just had them re-prescribed because I'm still in ^so much pain and not coping on other meds. You have to weigh up which is worse.

Almost fell asleep in a meeting yesterday though...
