It is SC, my Mum was in hospital for 5 days. For the first 2 she was totally out of it and went deaf! At one point they were concerned she was developing scepticaemia. Then she had an allergic reaction to the AB's they were giving her!!! It was very scary. So I'm really glad you didn't have that!

SackAche · 21/12/2005 10:09

And her arm was so swollen the skin cracked and pus was ooozing out! GROSS!

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 11:13

ITS COMING BACK.

It feels exactly like it started yesterday, i have a little patch on my foot just like yesterday Oh no I haven;t eaten a think today, have only had one measly cup of tea

northerner · 21/12/2005 11:14

Oh no

It can't be an allergy then can it? GP now.

DelGirlsRingAreYouListening · 21/12/2005 11:17

I would get it checked tbh. I had cellulitis in my 20's. I think that was started by a bite, same as MrsBDV's dh. It wasn't too bad though thankfully.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 11:18

Am at work northerner, so can't go anywhere.
I have takenmy shoes and socks off too see if that may stop it.
I'm so confused now, this is exactly the same as yesterday but all i have had is a cup of tea.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 11:19

SackAche · 21/12/2005 11:21

SC - So what, you're at work! THIS NEEDS TO BE SEEN TO!!!

MrsBubsDeVere · 21/12/2005 11:23

I agree with sackache, this needs to be seen to NOW, its nearly christmas and soon the surgery's etc won't be open and most of all you don't want to end up in hospital over christmas.

SackAche · 21/12/2005 11:27

My ds had an allergic reaction recently.... we still don't know what it was, but it happened twice in 2 days and never happened again. BUT this doesn't sound like an allergic reaction. Does it look infected? Like is the swelling coming from deep in you leg or is it more like big hot lumps on your skin?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 11:32

at theminute it justlooks like a 10p piece areawhich is raised like a blister but not fluidy. Itmoreof a whitey colour with red edges.

I haven't had any bites, burns, scrathes, open wounds etc for a long time either.

OP posts:
SackAche · 21/12/2005 12:13

IN that case SC, it's urticaria ... which is an allergic reaction! PHEW!

Go get some antihistamines and book an appointment with your GP to get it investigated.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 12:15

Not urticaria SA, don't think.

I already suffer with it from the cold and it looks and feels completely different. Although, it could be another form of itfrom something else..........but what?

OP posts:
Enideepmidwinter · 21/12/2005 12:16

it sounds like a snake or spider bite!

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 12:19

Snake ?????

BIL said about a spider bite last night, he has had one before, looked at myleg and said that is exactly what his went like, buti don't have any wounds?
EWWWW what kind ofspider would've bittenme? Knew there was a reason for being terrified of them

SackAche · 21/12/2005 12:19

SC - There are loads of different types though! I get urticaria when I eat tomatos, but not like you are describing, mine is like hives/whelts when I scratch or even tap my skin. But I have seen that type of urticaria in ds. He developed MASSIVE round hot lumps all over his bum, back and arms. They started of 10p sized then grew and grew. They disappeared after a few hours after I gave him piriton, but returned the next day. GP said it was urticaria, but never found out what caused it. Apparently some viral infections can cause you to have this allergic reaction!

SackAche · 21/12/2005 12:20

I'm going to bet 50 MN POUNDS that its acute Urticaria!!! Place your bets please?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 12:20

F'ing typical.
Why can't i just be normal eh ? As if getting it from the cold wasn't bad enough,Icould now be getting the bastard thing from something else

Extract from that website SC:

"This blotchy rash consists of a number of pale raised bumps or wheals surrounded by reddened skin."

50 MN Pounds remember....

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 12:23

Atleast if it is urticaria I know what to expect, no need to panic. Doc's were crap last time though and told me the allergy to cold would go away one day just as quickly as it came. That was 3 years ago

OP posts:
SackAche · 21/12/2005 12:24

SC - It can do. I was told that about my tomato allergy 8 years ago.

throckenholt · 21/12/2005 12:29

ds and dh have both had this over the last week or so - comes up suddenly - very itchy (not for DS thankfully) - lasts a few hours. Pyriton helped.

I think it is a viral thing.

When DH got it we thought it was caused by something I had got out of the loft and left on the bed (he got it on his legs in the middle of the night) - ended up washing all the bedding. then Ds got it a few days later in the middle of the day (at grannies house) and we realised it was the same thing and nothing to do with the bed !

throckenholt · 21/12/2005 12:32

here is a link to the thread I posted about it with a link to the photo I took of DS

SpringCrimboTurkey · 22/12/2005 21:02

FFS. Have now got it on my hands. No lumpts though just red spots allover the tops ofmy hands. I can literally see the blotches coming to the surface GRRRRR
