In fact I second Starlover... its progressed far enough, please try to get to A&E tonight. It's not going to get any better until you start AB's.... it'll only get worse and you'll never sleep.

SackAche · 20/12/2005 21:49

I hope you're phoning NHS24..... >drums fingers

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 21:51

Is your DP there?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 21:52

Someone is calling me back, could take 3 hours. Going to see if MIL can take me to A&E

OP posts:
SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 21:52

dp is here but DD is fast asleep so will have to stay with her

If your MIL can't take you call an ambulance. You can't drive yourself.

BudaBabeInAManger · 20/12/2005 21:54

Sounds awful - hope you get to A&E.

BudaBabeInAManger · 20/12/2005 21:54

Taxi??

SpringCrimboTurkey · 20/12/2005 21:54

Didn't think I should be i managed the 20mile drive home earlier.

OP posts:
WigWamBam · 20/12/2005 21:55

Get a taxi, probably quicker than sorting something out with the MIL.

SackAche · 20/12/2005 21:56

Yeah, if MIL can't take you just call an ambulance! Like I said, its only going to get worse if its not treated.... and it'll get worse QUICKLY!

northerner · 20/12/2005 22:41

Springcrimboturkey - I'm off to bed now. Will check in tomorrow to see how you are.
xx

BudaBabeInAManger · 21/12/2005 05:52

How are you? What happened?

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 08:39

No answer from MIL, didn't want to drive decided to waitfor NHS Direct to call back.
Was told its very unlikely to be Cellulitis because of my age, only occurs in older people with circulation problems aparantly.
Anyway, went to bed with some piriton and all gone this morning, thank god, was getting ever so slightly concerned. just got to hope it doesn't comeback now.

Thanks for all of your help

merryTissmas · 21/12/2005 08:46

well if it got better with piriton, it was an allergy, all you have to do is work out what caused it now...new tights, new washing powder fleas in carpet,...

maomao · 21/12/2005 08:48

Glad that you're okay, SpringCrimboTurkey! It sounds like a horrible allergic reaction that you had. Perhaps you should make a note of it somewhere (diary, or something?), and a list of anything that you ate/wore/etc. that is new. That way, should this happen to you again, you'll be able to compare episodes, iyswim.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 09:04

It was defo the Piri Piri Chicken Roll i had at lunch time. That was the only thing i have eaten differently in days, no change to washing powder,no new tights etc so that is the only thing i can think off.

Needless to say, I wont be eating one of those again, t'was lovely though

SackAche · 21/12/2005 09:12

SC - It's unlikely to have been the Piri piri chicken.... what could possibly be in that that could cause a reaction that one!

Glad its not Cellulitis, but contrary to what NHS24 told you my Mum was only 53 when she got it..... and I had a friend who got it in one leg after getting a blister on her foot, she was 19!!!! She had to spend a week in hospital.

You really should find out what caused the reaction. You can get a blood test, but I had to wait 8 months for mine to discover I'm allergic to tomatoes!

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 09:15

SA - Thepiri piri chicken is the only thing that was remotely different to usual. I always eat those typeof foods and have never hada problem but this is the first time i gotone from Greggs so i thought maybe it had something in it that i didn't know about. Got to takeDD to doctors this afternoon so am going to ask then

SC - You're more likely to develop an allergic reaction to something you eat alot. I ate tomatos, or tomato based pasta sauce every single day, then started getting a horrible skin reaction one day. Had no idea what it could be and eventually got my blood test which showed a massive reaction to tomatoes..... very strange! I still eat them though, I just get Neo-Clarytin on prescription and take it when I eat tomatoes.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 09:20

Must be MacDonalds then - eat shitloads of them and had one last night too.
Ohhhhh no, what if I can never have a Double Cheeseburger Meal again

OP posts:
northerner · 21/12/2005 09:25

Glad you're oK though.

BTW My mum was only 53 too when she got celulitis - she has no circulation problems.

SpringCrimboTurkey · 21/12/2005 10:00

In all seriousness, glad it wasn't cellulitis, from what I was looking at on the internet and what you and SA were saying last night, it looks bloody awful.

OP posts:
MrsBubsDeVere · 21/12/2005 10:08

Glad your feeling better, but, just wanted to add it doesn't only occur in older people with circulation problems, who advised you that?

My dh had it v v badly when he was 40, it developed from a gnat bite, he has no circulation problems.
