Smee - well done to your DH for his mercy-dash last night, any idea when they'll be removing the drain?, you must be sick to death of it by now.

DD has not got a job Hmm

SparkleRainbow · 14/10/2011 11:50

Wow it has taken me an hour to catch up! Grin

Pink, I know I am a bit late now, but that was awful, shame she is the senior radiotherapist, try not to see her alone, but get someone in with you, who will kick her, really really really hard (metaphorically speaking obviously I would not condone violence against a member of NHS staff or anyone.......may make an exception for her though)

pranma · 14/10/2011 11:52

I would love to join in with you all on facebook but dont know how to send a pm-anyone help please.

KurriKurri · 14/10/2011 11:55

pranma click on 'message poster' on the blue bit with the posting name in it.

I'm going to get DS to show me how to join FB this weekend, I'm completely clueless.

KurriKurri · 14/10/2011 11:56

hello Sparkle Smile

SparkleRainbow · 14/10/2011 11:57

pm me pranma and I will find you, give me some hints in the pm as to your photo image incase there is more than one with your name

SparkleRainbow · 14/10/2011 11:58

Arghh how do I stop the kittens from attempting to climb up me..it hurts and I am covered in little scratches.

SparkleRainbow · 14/10/2011 11:59

Hi Kurri Smile

smee · 14/10/2011 14:02

Kurri, must be hard for graduates these days - though actually I'm sure it was when I left too. Can't imagine there are many more jobs in Sheffield. Sad] My drain's still going at over the 40ml surgeon wants it beneath, which is a sod and a bit, but then again they won't let it go for v.much longer as it's an infection risk. I really, really want it out before Monday as I have a big meet for a new piece of work. They're new to me, don't know about cancer and I don't want to have the added stress of worrying they'll see tubes hanging out of me. Shock

Waving to Sparkle. Do the kittens do that thing where they run up you as though you're a tree, and sit on your head? Really hurts but is v.funny Smile

I've been giggling at Oliver Letwin and his daftness. Beyond dim, though terribly British. Grin

KurriKurri · 14/10/2011 14:07

Would you be able to have it out over the weekend Smee - is the district nurse visiting? Hope its gone soon.

I'm also amused (and mildly outraged) by Oliver Letwin, - what a fool he is. Don't get me started on Liam Fox!

cakesandale · 14/10/2011 14:24

Dashing through - IT problems Hmm and STILL not finished my very hard article [wimper] - but I wanted to say that i hope you get your drain out before the meeting Smee: it would be a bit hard to ignore but you might get Brownie points for stoicism and staying power.

DeeScent · 14/10/2011 14:28

Hello ladies. Smile

Just got back from town where the combination of being distracted with stress and short of sleep meant I kept mis-judging walking past people in the street and kept having to apologise to them as I nearly bumped into them Blush And my driving isn't the best. I'm quite calm, but obviously, obviously a wee bit stressed.

But I've had a relaxing day pottering around getting the house clean enough for dh to take over for the next couple of weeks (and I taught dd to iron in the hols so that's sorted Wink - I do pay her little bit of cash).

Smee, that's a great idea re the bag - I will hunt out an old one in case the hosp don't provide the chic-sounding little knitted numbers (or similar) mentioned by Kurri. The nurse says not everyone has a drain so hopefully I might escape it.

Pranma, that's a really good point about the 10 year stats being out of date because of the advances in treatment. .

I'll go on those websites you mention after the op. It just feels like too much atm. But at the end of next week I will get genned up for the consultant appt to fully understand his debrief on the pathology.

Kurri, yes, actually thinking about it, I need to tell dd enough detail that she can counter any grim stories she might hear from friends.

smee · 14/10/2011 14:40

Kurri, I can go back to the ward over weekend to get it removed, but only if it's down to below 40ml. Currently at about 60, so fingers crossed. Liam Fox and his Werrity is jaw dropping, but it seems so ridiculous that I'm mostly amused. Can't believe he'll survive the weekend.

DeeScent, v.good idea about telling your DD enough detail to counter any gloom merchants. Not surprised you're a wee bit stressed. Keep busy. Smile

Waves to Cakes. Article sounds hard. I was going to PM you and MAS, as I had a chat to my BCN about the need for more positive information on BC and some of the things she said might be useful for your book. Badger me if I forget.

Right. Off to cook a toastie for a v.late lunch.

pinkstarlight · 14/10/2011 14:58

driftwood...im so sorry its a terrible shock i also remember feeling terrified and completely drained but the others are right you do snap out of it.once your treatment starts you will feel much more in control. are you avoiding chemo?

pranma...thats fantastic news im another one whose bc is not hormone receptive.

kk...well done to your ds.

topsy...enjoy your day out.

deescent...goodluck for telling your dd it a horrible thing to have to do but it will be a great weight off your mind.

sparkle...wonder if i will get away with accidently throwing a coffee across the table.

got a gp appointment this afternoon am thrilled my onc has given the go ahead so i can come off my stomach injections and go on a tablet form instead.

not so thrilled to have had constant sharp rib pain for the last 4 days and ongoing stomach problems for months to be told today at the hospital " your pains are where your gall bladder is has anyone talked to you about your gallstones" what gallstones no one told me anything about them they also failed to tell me i have a cyst on my kidney which although is apparently harmless would have been nice to know.cant wait to throw this back at the senior radiotherapist who reckons my pains all in my head. anyway didnt want to wait to see the hospital doctor who was doing chemotheraphy clinic so promised to go and see my gp today instead.

janechocchip · 14/10/2011 15:49

I've had gallstones for over 10 years - pain at first was worse than anything but they settled down when I went on a really low fat diet..... Butter set them off for years. I should have had keyhole surgery 11 years ago but I flunked the premed (BMI TOO HIGH) and they seemed to settle down over the last couple of years...

cakesandale · 14/10/2011 16:40

Pink - I hope you get a chance to stick that news about your 'imaginary' symptoms up that flipping radiologist.

Fingers crossed smee for drain removal.

KK, I hope dd finds something soon without having to go back to Sheffield Sad

I HAVE FINISHED MY ARTICLE AND I SWEAR I CAN HEAR THE HALLELUJAH CHORUS! Oh happy day, I feel like dancing. Wine anyone??

pinkstarlight · 14/10/2011 16:42

omg jane funny you should say that as over the last week i have been having butter to try and up my calaries as im still losing weight.gp has put in a referal back to the hospital to investigate futher and like he said we can rule out cancer that was nice to hear .

smee · 14/10/2011 16:46

Buttery crumpets being passed to Pink whilst jigging along with Cakes. Smile

janechocchip · 14/10/2011 16:49

Hmm It was buttery crumpets that set them off in the first place ! lol They gave me morphine in A and E....Only time i have ever had it..

pinkstarlight · 14/10/2011 16:53

lol cakes and well done for finishing your article.

damn left the doctors with 5 more cases of dolteparin injections said theres been no clear instruction for me to be able to come off them ,says my onc is being very obnoxious and sending back sarkey evasive emails.my gp exact words were hes being an arse and im going to piss him off further by reminding him its there responsibility to keep them up to date with whats going on so the gp can update their records. great huh

pinkstarlight · 14/10/2011 16:55

but i love buttery crumpets...damn

KurriKurri · 14/10/2011 17:01

Bugger about the injections Pink - and about the gallstones, - good of them to tell you eventually!

Hooray for finished article Cakes Grin

cakesandale · 14/10/2011 17:03

Oh yes buttery crumpets are fab, don't scoff the lot, I can eat and dance Grin

Pink - oncs are usually obnoxious, though yours sounds worse than usual. Mine is rude to me (he thinks he's being funny Hmm ) Although I have to say when I am being a wimp when push comes to shove he is very kind and generous with his time.

Smee - meant to say, thanks for asking your bcn about the book, any and all ideas are extremely welcome. I'm going away for half term and plan to work on it a bit then.

cakesandale · 14/10/2011 17:04

KK - careful! Grin I think you are right, may not be prudent to dance too wildly. I'll stick to a bit of a soft shoe shuffle.

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/10/2011 17:30

hey well done cakes Wine and polenta cake for you.
pink pissy about the injections and gallstones and rib pain - cake ?
Had a very lovely lunch with my friends- panicked a bit about being ready on time -thought I'd have time to meditate but was mucking around trying to get my hair to look decent, then had to get lunch ready...
So nice to see them - I was given a bottle of Wine and a gorgeous hibiscus in a pot !
don't get me started on the idiots that are Oliver Letwin & Liam Fox - fools !
Off to see parents later with left overs and cake and will do Smog's injection to keep my hand in Grin
pranma did you find the pm thing and the tamoxifen ten on fb ?
