Cakes, x-posted. Am sure your DH will be okay. It's so different to last night here and news doesn't say anything's out of hand. Let us know he gets back safe and sound.

cakesandale · 09/08/2011 19:13

Thanks. Will do!

KurriKurri · 09/08/2011 19:25

Hope he's home soon cakes, - I'm sure he'll be fine.

Your sister too topsy, she's got the right idea arming herself with cake Grin

Well done on the freebie bra, is the prosthesis fitting room in your hospital a tiny broom cupboard full of boobs? (or is that just mine Grin) anyway good for Bobby, hope he's comfy.

Eye is throbbing now, - I'd like to be an elegant person who doesn't trip over her own feet and walk into doors, that's never going to happen though ,sigh.

I've been out most of the day and look what you've been getting up to !
First of all -hello to Earth - sorry to hear of your anxieties and that you are enduring the wait-it's always very hard. Chances are that the initial mammo will prove fine and dandy- every so often people are recalled because they can't be sure what has come up on the film-often just dense tissue-they will probably do an ultrasound and perhaps a more specific mammogram, the name of which I've forgotten (senile) -I had one a few months ago. If anything nasty is found then treatment is good and fast and you'll have us here to see you through it. Will send good vibes for you.
Hooray for Mr Cakes and hope that smee and topsy's sister are safe and sound.
Have been to the seaside today- to Hayling Island -lovely long beach there, views of the Isle of Wight and sand..ds spent hours making a landscape of mountains. Was a bit Confused when a woman sitting further up the beach asked me whether ds was autistic as he was spending so much time repeating what he was doing- as in making more and more mountains- I was a bit non plussed as ds was just very absorbed in what he was doing (if he's interested in something he really concentrates on it)
Am going to have a Cosmopolitan now and I don't care who knows it...

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2011 20:12

and welcome to Bobby topsy Grin !

smee · 09/08/2011 20:13

Daft woman, MAS. How lovely DS was so engrossed. Whispering now as ashamed of ignorance, but what's a Cosmopolitan? Isn't it a magazine?! Confused

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2011 20:27

a cocktail of vodka, lime and orange liqueur all ion a handy pre-mix bottle from Sainsbury's (hic)

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2011 20:27

forgot the cranberry...

smee · 09/08/2011 20:38

mmm, sounds divine.. I thought it was that magazine I used to read to find out about sex when I was a teenager. Grin

topsyturner · 09/08/2011 20:43

Glad hubby is home cakes .
My sisters flight is due to in in Heathrow at about 9.30pm , then hopefully a straight run down the motorway , home , and lock the doors ! She is under strict instructions to text me when she gets in

mas - pass the Comsmos Grin

Bobby has been worn for 24 hours now .
Only problem I have found so far is the size of it . The edges of it are extending beyond the edge of the bra I have on today . Think I need to invest in some fuller cup bras

In 4 days time we head off on our hols to a house we have rented on the beach in a remote area of Connemara .
I am really looking forward to it . Mostly because I think DH needs a rest . He has had a lot to cope with lately with me being ill . And also his dad had a major heart surgery a couple of weeks ago .
I think he is starting to feel the strain .

Ilovegeorgeclooney · 09/08/2011 20:49

It must be being on the beach, I was sitting on the beach at Seaview IW today watching my youngest daughter fall off a surf board when a complete stranger told me that she had never seen such mismatched boobs! I have lost a lot of weight recently and have not 'updated' my swimming costume but why would you say that to a perfect stranger?!? Of course my 17 year old son nearly wet himself laughing and she stomped off offended!

cakesandale · 09/08/2011 21:06

She said WHAT to you???? Bloody hell that's Waaaayyy beyond rude! [anger]
Take no notice ILGC. Bloody cow.

Hi MAS - pass the Cosmos Wink, I was just helping myself to a rather more pedestrian half of lager.....

Ilovegeorgeclooney · 09/08/2011 21:30

Actually I didn't mind, it was the first time my son had relaxed about my situation and I felt pleased that he finally felt able to joke about it all, he called me wonky all the way home! My husband died recently and he feels he has to be the strong man, it was lovely to see him revert to being a silly boy. As for the woman Seaview is full every summer of city exiles who constantly make fools of themselves so it was same old, same old.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2011 21:44

aw bless your boy ILGC - it must be very hard for him. Rude of the woman though- I'm feeling a bit Hmm still as this woman seemed so sure of her diagnosis ! she was minding 2 boys one of whom was definitely on the autistic spectrum.
Cosmopolitans all round then...

Ilovegeorgeclooney · 09/08/2011 21:49

Going for a sea breeze mmmmm

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2011 22:06

ooh,seabreezes are yum !

Figgyroll · 09/08/2011 22:36

Hello lovely ladies. Just popping in quickly to say I got home late this afternoon - stayed in an extra day. The op went well on Friday afternoon, I still have a drain in but the DN is coming tomorrow to take it out. I'm scared it will hurt. (insert cowardy custard emoticon). I can't believe I am just taking paracetamol for the pain relief. It's not half as bad as I thought it was going to be although am feeling a bit sore. I have a temp prosthesis which is a dreadful fit - talk about lopsided. I think I need a bit (a lot) more stuffing. I will experiment tomorrow. I am going to make use of my long scarves and go for a casual scarf look to disguise the lopsidedness.

I hope eveyone's well and will try and do a catch up tomorrow.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2011 22:50

hey figgy -well done ! Hope the drain comes out without any pain..lovely to have you back Smile

smee · 09/08/2011 22:55

What a bizarre thing to say. Bloody hell - did she know she was saying it out loud?! Still, hooray for silly boys, ILGC. Long may it last. Smile

  • an even bigger Hooray for Figgy!! Well done on escaping the hospital. So glad you're home! Smile

I am feeling uneducated. What the heck is a sea breeze?! Confused

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/08/2011 23:02

smee- how sheltered you are... it's vodka, grapefruit & cranberry juice Grin

KurriKurri · 09/08/2011 23:08

Wow there are some rude people about Shockon your behalf ILGC and MAS.

ILGC - I'm sorry to hear you've been through such a hard time, but your son sounds like a great lad Smile

Figgy great you are home and it's all out of the way Smile don't worry about the drain they take it out really quickly and you hardly feel it, just a deep breath and a quick pull, over in seconds.

All this talk of cocktails is making me jealous, booze is another item on the list of 'nice things Kurri can't have' Grin

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 09/08/2011 23:10

Oh vodka - I get very drunk very quickly on vodka so have to avoid! As DH says one drink and I'm anybody's, two drinks and nobody wants me Grin
