Also worried Smee, keep safe, - scary indeed.

Sorry about the cabin fever Sparkle, days out can be so expensive with several children. Have you got any nice free stuff round you, - somewhere you could go for a picnic maybe? any activity days for kids at the library or something like that?

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 08/08/2011 17:50

Normally not too much of a problem because the kids will go and play outside in the fields, have lunch outside etc, but the weather has been so changable today, when they came down to the chicken run with me it started raining incredibly hard out of nowhere and they had to run back up the field. I hadn';t thought about the library, in terms of activity days, thank you for that I will investigate.

smee · 08/08/2011 17:52

DH is home and we're going nowhere! Mare Street's five minutes walk away, so close but thankfully not right next to us. My v.pregnant BF was down there about half an hour before it all kicked off and said you could sense it, so scuttled home. Have texted and e-mailed round and between us, all local friends and neighbours are home bar two, who are leaving work early, so we're all safe and am sure will be fine.

Sparkle, it must be hard having DS at home all day. Mine would certainly drive me mad if we were stuck in all day. One of the joys of city living (am having to remind myself there are some!) is that there is so much on for free in the holidays. Wish you lived a bit closer, I could take your DS off with mine and give you a break.

Cakes, I wear ear-plugs, but still hear DS, who calls out regularly Hmm. They don't block out everything, but do muffle out DH's grunts and snores. I use those orange foam ones from Boots. Definitely worth a try. Have your clients paid up yet, or do we need to send the girls round. We could threaten to show them our scars. Grin

SparkleRainbow · 08/08/2011 17:57

I don't know what would frighten them more my scars or my fat stomach...in fact not even sure the stomach wouldn't distract their attention from the scars Grin

Thank you for that smee, I wish we were closer too. Not many people are happy to have ds, too much terror associated with the responsibilioty I guess, it is a shame cos he is a lovely, if slightly annoying today, little boy, and in hius defence he is only being annoying because I won't let him play on the computer, wii or watch tv all day. I am a horrid mum!

SparkleRainbow · 08/08/2011 17:59

Did anyone seethe Inspector Lynley mystery/investigation thingy last night. Is it on iplayer.....? I can't check, cos I can't turn on tv to check, otherwise will be hypocritical horrid mum!

smee · 08/08/2011 18:05

Didn't see it, but it will be on iPlayer am sure.

SparkleRainbow · 08/08/2011 18:08

I need escapism, I just relented and told the dc they could choose a DVD to watch together.......now they are having full blown barney as to which one to choose. Brew anyone! I am seriously considering changing career into a professional negotiator, got to be easier than this.Wink

smee · 08/08/2011 18:13

I've always thought I could get a job at United Nations after negotiating my way round DS. Brew here please.

topsyturner · 08/08/2011 18:18

Thanks for the explanation pranma . I too am non hormone dependant . And am waiting to see if I am herceptin receptor .
Must remember to ask if they have those results next time !

Blimey , London sure is hot at the minute !
My sister flies back there tomorrow evening , and I do worry about them going back .
Who would have thought you would have seen the day when Belfast had fewer riots than London .............. Grin

SparkleRainbow · 08/08/2011 18:24

Sigh.....nobody is going to watch a film now as they can't agree....

has anyone any cake to go with the tea, we are out of everything!

smee · 08/08/2011 18:29

Grin Topsy. You can feel justifiably smug. Smile

Nearly bedtime, Sparkle..

SparkleRainbow · 08/08/2011 18:32

I needed virual cake, the real packet of peanuts just fell into my mouth honest. Sob, sob many calories in peanuts.

I am counting down the last hour until bedtime Grin

KurriKurri · 08/08/2011 18:53

Sparkle, I am trying to rev up enough enthusiasm to make a fruit cake this evening, though at the moment I seem to be wedged in a chair digesting toad in the hole Grin If I do manage to bake, you shall have first slice Smile

Waves to topsy Smile

smee · 08/08/2011 18:54

Pesky peanuts, Sparkle. Grin

amberlight · 08/08/2011 19:08

Snorer gets evicted to spare room/sofa/anywhere but the bed. Works for me.

Last chemo done. And in the middle of it, a phone call to say dh needs two eye operations about the same time as my breast op. Oh joy of joys. Pass me the peanuts.

smee · 08/08/2011 19:14

Ooh Amber, I got it wrong. Thought it was tomorrow. HOORAY it's done, but that's a sod about your DH needing ops too. [Passes peanuts...]

KurriKurri · 08/08/2011 19:17

Phew last one out of the way amber - well done, but sorry your DH has to have eye ops when you are having your op, - everything comes at once eh?

OP posts:
amberlight · 08/08/2011 21:21

yup, it's like buses. Nothing for ages, then 6 at once. Thanks.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/08/2011 21:54

grr-that's a bugger amber - poor you and poor dh. Glad the last chemo is done-onwards and upwards.
Smee- was listening to reports from the riots earlier- sounds very scary- hope you are all safely locked indoors.
Am thinking that you sleepless ones might need some relaxing meditation- just to ease you into sleep..I can always make you some cds Smile -seriouslythough-it might be an answer.
I have made many cheese scones with cayenne and poppy seeds for meditation day at the weekend- have frozen them as I wasn't sure whether I'd have time this week.

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/08/2011 22:09

amber- just seen on fb that dh's ops are for cataracts - just to reassure you-(my dad having had both eyes done) that it's not too dreadful (obv. you both being operated on at same time is) My dad had his first when my mum was in hospital after breaking her hip - I took him in and he was out again within a couple of hours-obviously not able to drive but could see well enough to manage at home on his own. He was driving again within a couple of days. Aftercare involved eye drops and sluicing with water but really it was very straightforward and not at all painful- so please don't fret Smile He is delighted with the results and is specs free for the first time in many many years (except for reading glasses)

sandripples · 08/08/2011 22:25

Amber - sending hugs to you.
Sparkel yes I watched Lynley and it was good. I think it was a repeat but we hadn't seen it before.

Hope the library and perhaps the nearest museum might have activity on for bored DCs.

Visited my friend in hospital today - she's having a rough time with secondaries at the moment, I felt very sorry for her. She is under same onc as me - he's excellent so I do hope he'll be able to help. I think her DH said she'd be having a new course of chemo.

On a lighter note, my DH has just chased the black cat out of our house with a lot of noise, snarling noises (from DH, not the cat ) and the water spray. Meanwhile Orlando cowered under the kitchen table. We've just locked the cat flap for the night!

sandripples · 08/08/2011 22:31

KK - just read yr post about the tramp Grin.

Smee - glad you're OK.

Pranma - that's very impressive. I think the Slimming World approach is really to fill up on all sorts of healthy things too. Its cheese that's my main downfall! STill have been swimming again today, and also took DS driving which requires a lot of nerve (he's learning at the moment), so a good day. Will be busy for a few days with visitors so bye for now!

SparkleRainbow · 09/08/2011 08:04

Smee, are you ok? I hope so, I have been listening to the news reports, it is crazy.

amberlight · 09/08/2011 08:17

cataract ops would be straightforward if dh wasn't on the autism spectrum too and absolutely unable to have his eyes touched. He'll have to have two general anaesthetics. And he is already very stressed out about that prospect, which means I have a month or so of supporting him rather than him being able to support me as effectively, so it puts a lot of pressure on us as a family. But we'll survive. we always do.

SparkleRainbow · 09/08/2011 08:24

Oh amber, it is so hard that this all comes at once. He will be fine with the GA I am sure, but you will need some help for a couple of days afterwards, in case he feels to icky/groggy. Have you got friends or family close by who can help out?
