good luck with scan tomorrow topsy xxxx
Columbia - we also do group meditation and chantingGrin
sparkle- no you aren't being unreasonable one bit and grrrrr on your behalf.

Signed up a direct debit for Battersea Dog and cats - nice young man came to the door and I felt unable to refuse, but it is a very important charity . He had a good selling technique - boyish enthusiasm and he admired Celeste Grin

Can you possibly send some good thoughts to my mum's sister - she is being operated on at Charing X hosp..she's 88 and there's quite a lot wrong with her. She's a difficult old thing -she and mum are really different, but she is still my auntie and I hope she pulls through.

'hands together, eyes closed, stick your fingers up your nose' as I all the naughty children used to say. Grin

Good luck with the scan tomorrow topsy, will be thinking of you, hope you don't have to hang around to long. I'm glad your DH has cheered up Smile

Sparkle - how you keep your sanity with all the grief you get from hospital, I do not know, - you are amazingly strong.

Columbia Grin at fist shaking - I like your style!

Is it very humid tonight or am I just having the mother of all hot flushes?

KurriKurri · 30/06/2011 22:22

Sending good thoughts to your auntie MAS - I hope the operation is successful and all is well. xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/06/2011 22:28

MAS - positive thoughts to your Aunty .
On a random note , I used to live off Fulham Palace Road (which Charring X Hossie is on !) when I was a wee small girl . My junior school was opposite it !
We live in a global village don't we ?

I don't suppose I am likely to get my CT results tomorrow am I ? No ? Didn't think so .

And you are all very naughty girls !

You , girl , fingers out of your nose now .
There will be extra chanting tomorrow evening now , you have all let yourselves down ...........

Columbia999 · 01/07/2011 00:24

I used to go to the Greyhound on Fulham Palace Road to see bands!

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/07/2011 07:43

ah - one of my friends from art school lived somewhere around FPRoad - think it was off Lilly Road ...my mum went to school in Hammersmith and worked as a play specialist at Charing X...
Auntie has got through operation (she was bleeding from bottom Sad and it wouldn't clot because she is on blood thinners, they also say her heart and lungs are bad- she smokes) Anyway,is in ICU at the moment. Will see if mum has been told this morning

Glad your Aunty got through her operation MAS
Sounds like she is having a rough old time .

See ? Told you all , Global Village !
I lived in Hammersmith , Fulham and Chelsea . And Charing X A&E was my home from home as an accident ridden small child Blush

Poor Grandparents only got back off their hols in the early hours of yesterday , and I have flung them straight into babysitting duties for my apt this afternoon .

I can't find my blinking letter from the hospital .
I am sure it told me not to eat for 4 hours before todays apt and to drink only clear fluids .
Damn , I am going to have to go into the computer cupboard and look for the letter aren't I ?
I may be some time ..........

amberlight · 01/07/2011 08:50

MAS, keep us posted re your auntie - keeping everything crossed for her.
Topsy...er Topsy...are you there?

Got the kettle on for those in need of a Brew? I can feel myself getting a bit Confused about chemo next Tues. Filling the weekend with stuff so I don't do my usual pre-chemo panic...

topsyturner · 01/07/2011 09:06

amber - emerged unscathed . Unfortunately also emerged letter-less !
Guess what ? It was in my diary the whole time Blush

I have my 1st chemo next week , so I will join you in a calming mug of green tea please .
Any cake ?
Oh damn it , can't eat or drink anything for 4 hours prior to todays appointment Sad

amberlight · 01/07/2011 09:17

Luckily virtual tea and cake is allowed.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/07/2011 09:40

amber and topsy -we'll be with you all the way, dispensing cake and green tea (I recommend Dragonfly Moroccan mint green tea- my favourite)

amberlight · 01/07/2011 09:42

Could mine be Builder's Tea please? Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/07/2011 09:52

oh ok,sure you don't want Earl Grey ?

OP posts:
smee · 01/07/2011 09:56

MAS, am sending positive vibes for your Aunt. She sounds feisty, I'd bet she'll pull through. Smile

I'll have a Brew Amber. Stick with us and we'll distract you from anxt. I do remember that well though. Especially with the later rounds. You're near the end though, aren't you??

I'm having one of those mornings where nothing quite works. DH took DS to school and forgot his lunch/ book bag/ sports kit, so I had to cycle after them, then the milk curdled in my coffee [huge disaster, believe me!] and the cat's just arrived with a 'present'. Was only a mighty miffed bumble bee, but it's taken me half an hour to get it back outside.

Topsy, good luck later. I doubt you'll get your results today. I remember at mine, the Radiographer being really sweet and having that 'I feel so sorry for you' look on her face. I was convinced she'd spotted it had spread. I was clear though, so am guessing she just felt sorry for me as my file was stamped 'Breast Cancer'. Sometimes sympathy can be ever so not helpful. Grin

smee · 01/07/2011 09:57

I'm having coffee. Still can't do Green Tea - should I try again, MAS?

amberlight · 01/07/2011 10:03

Ooo, Earl Grey tastes a bit odd at the mo. Ordinary Builder's tea is fine Smile

Smee, yup, I've only two more out of the eight chemo sessions to go, then surgery, then the herceptin. So it's sort of like being at the end whilst at the same time still having a solid year of stuff ahead of me Confused.

Sounds like you're more in need Brew than I am after your start!

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/07/2011 10:39

oh smee- what a start to the day ! I diverted Celeste with another frog yesterday evening - it hopped away after a bit..
I started drinking green tea some years ago (along with an obsession about taking selenium to prevent cancer -hah-it didn't work obv.) I decided that I really like it -more than regular tea-I like it best with the mint. Ds drinks it all the time- he loves it,so am hopeful for his good health Grin

OP posts:
smee · 01/07/2011 10:41

Amber, that's brilliant - honestly, I know the op is not insignificant, but the chemo really is the hardest part. So after Tuesday you'll just have one left and YOU CAN DO IT. [smee cheering from the side lines!] When are you having your op? Have you got a date yet? + sounds like no Rads? I haven't had to have Herceptin, but Kurri will fill you in on that.

smee · 01/07/2011 10:43

MAS, x posted. See I can do Peppermint and really like that, but only started drinking Green Tea on diagnosis, and then chemo tastebuds ruined it for me. Now I have an almost Pavlovian response to it, as it just takes me back. Sad Maybe I should try your suggested type.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/07/2011 10:48

mm,know what you mean. It might be worth a try.
Hooray for amber - you are on the home run !

OP posts:
topsyturner · 01/07/2011 11:05

Green tea was definitely an aquired taste for me in the beginning .
But now I prefer it to normal tea .
Try putting a drop of honey in it when you start having it , just till you get used to it .

And yes , the green and mint is luvverly Smile

Groan , am sooooo hungry and thirsty .
Going to make a lovely dinner tonight to make up for this .
