A quick hello and I will catch up soon.

My caravan holiday was not to be; DD developed platelet rash again, in spite of Tuesday's transfusion, and we have been in and out of the hospital near my mum's for the past 5 days. She had 9 hours of blood on Saturday, but platelet rash was back AGAIN on Sunday (they decided not to transfuse her at the end of the week as felt blood might give her a boost - all of her counts were low) and she had a little nosebleed, so we're going back in again today for platelets. She's not feeling too bad in herself now (was very grotty last week), but she doesn't want to go to the caravan, and I don't blame her. We'll stay at mum's until Weds, then back to hospital on Thurs for chemo. The fun never stops!

I hope everyone else is well.

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/08/2011 11:04

poor love- that sounds rotten for you both Sad

Poor DD marion . Hope she doesn't feel too low when she gets her chemo this week . Sounds like a rough week has been had for both of you .

KurriKurri · 01/08/2011 17:17

Good luck to Framey's mum - I hope she's sitting up in bed with a cup of tea now, operation all done Smile

Poor DD Marian, - she must be so sick of hospitals - and so must you. What a shame you couldn't get to the caravan this time. Good luck for her chemo on Thursday.

I saw the GP this afternoon. He's referring me to an endocrinologist, meanwhile because my heart rate is so fast (caused by the thyroid probs.) he's put me on beta blockers, I have to phone him on Friday to tell him if I feel any better.

I told him I was worried about it being cancer, and he said they will be testing for it, but he thinks there are other more likely causes. I guess thats sort of OK news isn't it? Ho hum.

I fell asleep in yoga today during relaxation Blush Grin

SparkleRainbow · 01/08/2011 18:02

Oh marion, I am so sorry, what a miserable time your dd is having, and you of course too.

fi ngers crossed for framey's mum.

Kurri, how long will you have to wait for the referral? I am a bit worried about you. Pleased you feel alseep in yoga today, shows that it was helping you to relax. Grin

KurriKurri · 01/08/2011 18:35

I'm not sure how long it will take Sparkle.

Please don't worry about me, - I will be fine, I feel a lot happier now its being sorted out, and apparently the beta blockers will work fairly quickly and should make things a lot better- it won't cure the problem but will calm own the symptoms. And hopefully the endocrinologist will be able it deal with the thyroid in some way.

SparkleRainbow · 01/08/2011 18:53

Well that does sound promising, but you need to take care of yourself.

KurriKurri · 01/08/2011 19:23

thank you Smile - I'm not allowed to have chocolate, coffee or tea though - because of the caffeine, but he didn't mention cake being prohibited - phew Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/08/2011 19:46

try not to worry KK - am sure once they sort out your thyroid you'll be feeling tip top. I imagine that cancer is always there in the back of one's mind Sad

I have been doing my meditation lying on my bed and manage to be awake more or less, but it's so hard to get up afterwards-so tempting to just lie there with my eyes closed.
We're off to MILs on wednes. Am sure it'll be fine but anxiety is very much present (am thinking more of my ocd stuff than being with MIL who is fine)
Hope Framey's mum is having a nice cup of tea.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 01/08/2011 19:47

herbal tea -is that ok ?(though yucky-except for mint) Cake seems a good idea.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 01/08/2011 19:50

Yes I think herbal tea would be fine, or fruit tea - I like those berry ones.

I'm sure you'll be fine once you get to MIL's try not to get too anxious Smile, - is it a long journey to get there?

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/08/2011 21:03

it's quite a long journey, plus we do a detour to see a friend in Derbyshire - I just find going away so difficult - even lovely holidays. Gah !

FrameyMcFrame · 01/08/2011 22:12

Thanks everyone, she's doing really well. In her pjs and had some tea, she's been up and walked to the loo. Hoping she will be ok to come out on Wednesday. Smile

FrameyMcFrame · 01/08/2011 22:24

KK, I take beta blockers too for anxiety that i get at work. They're fine and really work on symptoms of anxiety, fast heart rate etc and I've never had any side effects. Hope you're feeling ok tonight.

KurriKurri · 01/08/2011 22:29

Thanks Framey, I am feeling OK, have only had one tablet so not much effect so far, it's reassuring to hear you don't have side effects Smile

So pleased your mum's op went well and she's looking forward to coming home (she may come home with the wound drain still in, which the district nurse will attend to and remove for her when it's no longer needed.)

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2011 07:33

hooray for your mum Framey ! hope she comes home soon then. And KK- hope the beta blockers are ok for you.

Hello all, I am back from holiday today, my birthday, as I see you have just said. Fancy you all remembering, thank you so much. I am a bit Blush now. It's no fun being 49, however hard dd makes me think so.

I have just landed here and see there is a lot of catching up for me to do. I see some new faces - welcome, I will endeavour to catch up and get to know you asap. KK, I will find out more about you, too, sorry you are feeling rum.

I have had a lovely holiday, I am about to post a picture (probably sideways but you never know your luck Grin) of the isle of Jura, looking uncharacteristically sunny. We have had wall to wall sunshine and white, sandy beaches and clear, green seas all to ourselves. Eagles everywhere, and islands so remote the petrol pump on one has an honesty box Shock How fab is that?

But on the other hand I have had a birthday card from my very oldest friend telling me that she, too has BC. Sad

We are off out to dinner shortly but I will catch up and be back tomorrow.

love to all x

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/08/2011 16:46

lovely to see you back and it sounds an idyllic and fab holiday...have a lovely birthday dinner ! 49 isn't old Grin
Am really sorry though about your friend Sad rotten, rotten luck.
