hello Framey, - I'll be thinking about your mum on Sunday and hope everything goes well for her Smile

As MAS says, there are quite likely to be local groups in her area, - its worth asking at the hospital and at her GP surgery. MacMillan are very good for support for patients and their families, - I found them very useful. Most places have some sort of cancer support centre, they usually offer complementary therapies, relaxation, counselling and a friendly ear if she just wants to chat. Breast Care Nurse will probably know of local support too.

All th best for Sunday let us know how she is doing, - we'll all be sending good vibes Smile

Hello MAS hope you've had a good day.

Have a good holiday amber - take things easy Smile

FrameyMcFrame · 30/07/2011 11:19

Thanks folks. Bit of a setback this morning as Mum has woken up with a v high temp and feeling a bit sick. Called the district nurse and they're sending GP out I think it might be related to her Seroma which is very big and tight. Maybe an infection. Hoping it won't delay the surgery though. Hope everyone's having a good weekend so far.

KurriKurri · 30/07/2011 14:39

Your poor mum Framey, that sounds very painful for her. I hope they get it sorted out and get her temp down., and that her op. isn't delayed (I think it might be unfortunately if she has an infection, but will keep fingers crossed for her.)

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/07/2011 15:03

oh poor mum Framey- fingers crossed it gets sorted and she feels better soon.
Hello KK Smile

hello MAS - I got a tin of tinted charcoal pencils in a sale today - am very chuffed, as I saw some last week, hummed and hah-ed then decided I couldn't justify treating myself again - today I saw them somewhere else for less than half price - couldn't get my sticky little hands in my purse quick enough! Grin

Some nasty creature of the night has bitten me - I woke up with six itchy bites on the first four inches of my wrist - I must have had my arm dangling out of the duvet, grrr.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I hope Cakes is having a nice holiday - did she say where she was going? - hope she's getting good weather.

topsyturner · 30/07/2011 17:30

framey - hope your mum doesn't have an infection and that her op can go ahead . I got my mastectomy cancelled first time round (surgeon sick) and it knocked me for 6 as I had myself all geared up for it .

I am having a very sleepy time of it at the moment .
This 2nd round of chemo has hit me harder than the 1st I think .
Don't feel sick (thankyou syringe driver !) but feel generally bleurgh , have had non stop headache and heartburn since Wednesday .
So I tend to spend my afternoons napping and then going back to bed by 10pm and sleeping the whole night through .

My sister and her partner and my nephew are arriving next Thursday for a visit , so I am hoping I will feeling a bit more with it when they arrive .

Hope you are all having a great weekend , quite sunny and warm here today .

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/07/2011 19:44

v warm and sunny here today- just been to have a drink in the parental garden.
Pencils sound great KK - I love buying new bits of art materials - irrestible-and even better when less than half price. Am sorry about bites though- damn varmints.
Topsy - hope you are feeling fine and dandy for your visitors - I cannot blame chemo for my sleepiness- sometimes I just sit with my eyes closed over my desk.Today I did my meditation lying on my bed and then fell asleep afterwards.
Dh making baked fish for tea tonight, yum.

KurriKurri · 30/07/2011 20:21

the tiredness does tend to increase with each cycle topsy unfortunately, I hope you'll feel a bit better when your friends arrive - try to get plenty of rest in the mean time Smile

Talking of varmints I've just found a snail on the bathroom wall - how on earth did that get there? (I realise with the insect bites and molluscs my house is sounding rather manky Grin)

KurriKurri · 30/07/2011 20:22

Sorry topsy - I said friends, I meant family ,

topsyturner · 30/07/2011 20:54

Don't be looking here for marbles - long gone Grin

topsyturner · 30/07/2011 20:55

And falling asleep post meditation makes me think you are doing a good job of relaxing MAS !

smee · 30/07/2011 21:12

It's the drugs, Topsy. Honestly, those anti sickness drugs are lethal. I had a bit of an intolerance to them, so had to stop taking, but do remember feeling flattened when I was taking them.

Kurri, I hope you've got a plan for the charcoal pencils. I wouldn't know where to start, but I'm sure you do. Smile

I've been off doing school holiday type things and then trying to work frantically when I get a few minutes. Sort of working for now, though DH seems to have already forgotten that he's had acres of time off to go cycling. Had a bit of a moan about it earlier, so he's cooking something, I think to make up. Not that he'll admit he's in the wrong of course. Wink

MAS, baked fish sounds lovely. Hope it is.

  • Framey, so sorry to hear about your mum. I'd guess it is the seroma. Pesky things those. Really hope she doesn't have her op held up tomorrow though. Will keep my fingers crossed for her.
FrameyMcFrame · 30/07/2011 22:03

How was the baked fish? Sounds delicious! All this arty stuff sounds fab, we've been doing a lot of chalks today with DD. My DP did a fine art degree, he works in IT now Grin not so much fun!
Mum feeling a lot better now, GP couldn't spot an infection anywhere but gave her a big dose of antibiotics just in case. Her op is not until Monday mornig but they admit her the day before just to secure the bed. They did this last time too, it's a bit strange but better than losing the bed I guess.

SparkleRainbow · 31/07/2011 07:45

I am all caught up, but only popping in as dd1 has got a tummy ache and feels poorly, so needs plenty of mummy cuddles today.

Framey I hope they admit your mum today, and it can go ahead tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed for her.

Oh pink I am so sorry you feel so lousy, I do hope the side effects wear off quickly for you, and that the change of treatment plans settles in your mind. ig hugs.

Topsy, I am glad the nurses got there so quickly to change the driver/top it up, it is a good job you rang and chased them! Nap as much as possible and keep those feet up.

I am glad dh's training reminder seems to have produced a nice meal for you, they all seem to need a little pointing in the right direction every now and then Wink Well my dh does anyway!!!!

I can't remember if the London trip is this weekend SR? I hope it is, cos the weather is beautiful.

No fear Kurri and manky houses, mine always wins that particular prize, including this morning having to clear up the choccie labs night-time "toilet" emergency because she spent yesterday scrumping plums from one of our plum trees!!! Good job I love the dog, otherwise she would make a particullar lovely soft fur coat and matching gloves!

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/07/2011 09:09

Framey- glad to hear there was no infection -really hope that all can go ahead for your mum-will be thinking of her Smile
Dh's baked fish was lovely- he bought fresh sardines and baked them with mint and thyme ,tomatoes and potatoes -positively mediterranean. We also had a bottle of chilled prosecco (end of term present from mindees parents) -yum. Ds found the bones a bit much- I always try to eat them as the calcium is good, but some were a bit prickly.

Sparkle- hope your little one feels better v soon
Grin @ plum scoffing dog !
Love to topsy and pink and KK

Framey - I hope your mum's op is going ahead as planned, - let us know how she gets on Smile

Sparkle - hope DD is feeling a bit better now, and Grin at the plum gobbling lab.

I've had decluttering day today - on planet DH everyone would keep every single piece of paper they had ever been sent or given. I have explained that here on Earth we throw things away occasionally. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/07/2011 20:27

aw bless dh KK ! I do keep a lot of stuff, just in case, but every so often have a cull which makes me feel better, though a little sad too.
Lots of good thoughts to Framey's mum for tomorrow.

smee · 31/07/2011 22:36

Just nipping in to wish Framey's mum the best for tomorrow. Hope she's first on the list, Framey. Am sure she'll be fine. Smile

Did someone say manky house?! Mine's shameful. Combination of school holidays and trying to work leaves no time for mess. I'd bet I'd win.

No time to type more and am off for a couple of days tomorrow on a work trip. Nothing exciting though am looking forward to it as it's a rare trip away without DS, so I get some grown up time. Hope everyone has a good couple of days. Lovely sun shining here today. Smile

FrameyMcFrame · 31/07/2011 22:41

Looks like it's all going ahead, she's on second in the morning. Doctor said the Seroma looked fine and they'll drain it in theatre tomorrow when they do the mastectomy. So that's good, she has an individual room this time so she's pleased with that. Hope you all had a nice Sunday Smile

FrameyMcFrame · 31/07/2011 22:42

Thanks Smee, and everyone else for all the good wishes! Smile

KurriKurri · 31/07/2011 22:43

Have a good trip Smee Smile

Hope everyone had a good weekend, - I've got my GP appointment tomorrow, [slightly nervous face]

topsyturner · 31/07/2011 22:45

Good luck vibes from me too for frameys mum . Hope it all goes smoothly for her tomorrow .

smee have a lovely time , even if it is work related . At least you should get a bed to yourself to starfish in ! That's a rare occurrence in this house Grin

Tonights SE seems to be heart burn . Its not on my list of known SEs , so I am a little annoyed ! Drinking loads of milk to try and damp it down .

Off to bed now , hope everyone has had a lovely weekend . And Monday brings a good start to the week for you all .

topsyturner · 31/07/2011 22:47

Ooh cross posted .
Good luck for tomorrow too kk !

KurriKurri · 31/07/2011 22:57

Thanks topsy, hope the heartburn eases off, - those pro biotic yogurts/yogurt drinks (like actimel and activia) sometimes help Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 01/08/2011 07:46

lots of good luck today KK and of course to Framey's mum
Happy trip away too smee!
Hope heartburn eases topsy
