new thread here !

SR, you do all look happy. Smile Dress looks perfect too.

I failed to snag a raven. One of the little girls got quite worried I was serious, so gripped onto my hand the whole time to stop me being locked up. Bonkers day - imagine taking 60 seven years on public transport..! Was a lot of fun too though.

DS is having a huge waterfight in the garden with his friend, so I'm staying out of the way keeping busy inside. Grin

Hope everyone on treatment's okay. Pink, are you still okay-ish on the lower dose? And Topsy, am really hoping those drugs have stopped the sickness. Still wondering how all the others are - I think a fair few are coming to the end of their chemo, so maybe they'll feel up to coming back once they're through.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/07/2011 16:12

you look great SR - how lovely - well done to dd.
Have washed floor and am going to bake my cheese scones (with mustard and poppy seeds instead of cayenne and caraway as dh doesn't like caraway and the cayenne is out of date !)
I have rather a lot of work lined up and am panicking- mainly about the website job - I am nervous !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 09/07/2011 17:05

I'm off to see my puppets in James and the Giant Peach tonight. I am currently sitting in my dressing gown while DH puts nail varnish on my toes (Lady Muck emoticon).

Mustard and poppy seeds sound like a good combination MAS - i think I'll try that next time. I've got a recipe for a cheese and mustard scone loaf thing somewhere. - I'll have to dig it out and put it on here in case anyone wants to try it.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend and that those on chemo aren't feeling too horrible. topsy I hope that horrible sickness is gone now.

topsyturner · 09/07/2011 18:35

Sickness has mainly gone now thanks . Just extremely tired because of the anti sickness drugs in my driver . But I would much rather be tired than pukey !

Sounds like some good weekends going on with you ladies .
As long as there is no raven-napping going on Grin

My sister flew over from that there London for the weekend , and has been keeping me busy . Hence the lack of hourly reports from me !

Dinner almost ready , home made chicken kievs .
God its great to be able to eat again Grin

KurriKurri · 09/07/2011 23:07

Tired definitely better than pukey topsy -it's great your sister has come to visit, bet it good to see her.

The play was great and the children in the audience loved it, especially the rude centipede (DS Grin) Afterwards the cast came out to the foyer with the puppets and let the children have a look and try them out. The production has done really well with big audiences every night.

I'm worn out though - took a long time to drive home because there had been an accident so we were diverted via a very long route, so I'm off to bed.
Night night all Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/07/2011 09:01

that's brilliant KK - I wrote a post yesterday wishing you luck and saying hello to topsy and how nice to have her sis visiting and glad that she was feeling a bit better -but it's gone ! Anyway, hope you had a good sleep !

Thank-you all for your nice comments. I'm delighted with that dress - its proving a very good item for this summer.

Topsy - glad you're coping with the treatment - hang in there. How much longer have you got to go now?

KK sorry - what does PM mean?!

MAS - cheese=scones yum - one of our favourites.

Smee - very brave of you to take all those 7 year olds!

My friend with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma is here - shs very well and does not need treatment so its a monitoring situation. We had a brilliant day yesterday - went to see Victoria Wood's new production that she has written and directed for the current Manchester Arts Festival - it was brilliant (of course) and we both enjoyed it very much. Full house and lovely audience. WE also had a nice walk round Manchester which was extraordinarily quiet so the nice parts were very peaceful to wander about . I think the main Festival kicked off yesterdy evening and we were there for the matinee so all was tranquil.

I am trying to have a renwed go at my regime - I am still 1st 3lb lighter but want to lose a further 10lb and I seem a bit stuck! However have been doing a lot of walking this w/e and also had a swim.

KK - the puppets production sounds great.

Good luck to all. x

sandripples · 10/07/2011 12:13

PS DD's hair is henna'ed. Its naturally green........oops forgot - its just been green for the last 4 years.

She had to dye it a more natural colour as they wouldn't allow graduands to have green hair.....

I think it was originally light brown Smile

KurriKurri · 10/07/2011 12:40

Well her hair looks good SR however it came about Smile well done on your weight loss and for keeping it off, - that's very good going.

PM is a private message - look at the top of the page and you will see in box - your should be red, and click on it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/07/2011 14:04

well done SR -excellent weight loss !

There was a review of Victoria Wood's thing on Frontrow I think- or whatever the thing on yesterday early evening is called- a bit mixed, but unmistakably her work they said.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2011 09:59

good morning all- sunny !
Hope you're feeling chipper topsy Smile and that everyone else is doing well today.
Ds has his grade 3 singing exam at 15.09 pm today- so if you could send good musical vibrations that'd be ace. He also announced that he's making cupcakes tomorrow -yum,but have to go and buy butter and eggs etc - and that he was having a singing lesson at lunch time today so I had to scavenge about to make him some lunch to take at the last minute- boys tsk.

OP posts:
smee · 11/07/2011 10:41

Topsy, tired definitely better than pukey. Hope it's sunny over where you are. Get out a recliner and snooze in the sun. Smile

Kurri, how fantastic to see your puppets work so well. Must have been brilliant.

SR, am jealous you saw the Victoria Wood thing. Grin at your daughter's hair. She does sound lovely; very much the young woman who knows her own mind. Smile And really well done on the weight loss too!

MAS, hope DS doesn't get too nervous later. I'll be vibing in later for him.

I have a question for those on Tamoxifen/ who've been through menopause. Have you ever felt dizzy/ vertigo? Last few days I've had the world spinning if I get up from lying down. First thought was obviously brain tumour (!), but googling makes me think that's unlikely, so I moved on to the calmer thought of inner ear infection. But my hot flushes have notched up recently so I googled and have discovered vertigo's a little known but not uncommon side effect of menopause. Really annoying, but also quite interesting.

Lovely sunny day here. I have to take DS to the dentist after school though, which he hates, so I do too. Keep your fingers crossed for me that he stays calm...

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2011 11:17

fingers crossed for dentist - always stressful (though ds much, much better about it these days)and thanks for thinking of my boy.
Am not through the menopause so can't comment on tamox. after it - but haven't had any dizziness.

OP posts:
smee · 11/07/2011 11:26

I think I'm just at the start of menopause, MAS so it's a bit depressing to feel dizzy - if that's what's causing it. Have booked a GP appt to talk it through, so will see what she says. Rant alert, but I hate the fact that every thing you get after BC makes you so paranoid. Something as simple as an ear infection can be a brain tumour at 3am, and I've never been a health worrier before, so this is all a bit new to me. Grrr..

SparkleRainbow · 11/07/2011 11:30

Very calm happy thoughts are winging they're way to junior smee.....dentists good, dentists happy, dentists fun........ Wink good luck.

I too am Envy I love Victoria Wood. Your weight loss is inspired my on through my hunger.......am still so hungry but lost 4.5kg now, so not stopping.

Also finances are running a little tight at the moment, so dh and I agreed teetotal from now on, well after this weekend as we have a big BBQ party here planned, but 3 bottles of cheap Wine will pay for Dd1 to carry on with her riding lessons which she love, and lets face it my dh could drink that himself in a single evening Shock Have also told him if he stopped smoking I could jiggle finances and pay a bit off the mortgage..... he looked shocked but nodded. Grin Have actually been sitting here totting up our outgoings, and what bills we have to pay this month and swallowing hard....the terrace has been very expensive and since ds got turned down for dla there is no caital there to support us getting the ramps in, the extra mileage to his new school, all the hospital visits mileage and parking....it is all so expensive. Am off to panic about money some more.

SparkleRainbow · 11/07/2011 11:33

smee I was convinced I had a brain tumour before I found my lumps, as I started with bad headaches, turns out they are migraines related to my EDS, there is a condition which just keeps on giving! Dizziness is horrid, I am so sorry. When are you going to see the GP?

smee · 11/07/2011 11:49

I didn't know migraines could be connected to the EDS Sparkle - what a nuisance. Do you still get them? Isn't it curious how our bodies work. GP's on Wednesday. I've decided it's unlikely to be a brain tumour, as a) if it is it's grown horribly quickly as I was scanned last year and nothing showed then. b) most brain tumours show up as headaches/ fits, which I'm lucky enough not to have. It's not that bad really, as it's mostly just when I'm lying down and try to stand up. It's more that it's a bit unnerving. Especially as DH is away at the moment. It's not stopping me doing anything though.

How's DS today? And how's your DH?

smee · 11/07/2011 11:51

x-posted, Sparkle. Money's evil isn't it. So easy when you have it, but scary when you don't. Be interesting to see if your dh manages to quit smoking. How many does he smoke a day then?

SparkleRainbow · 11/07/2011 11:58

Ds is exhausted today, I am not sure why he was in his pj's all yesterday because he says "they are so soft and comfy why would I want to get dressed!" Grin Dh is all right, looking a little stressed, but he has been taking the tablets, and not mentioned having an issue about it, the gp explained how they worked to him, so he was quite relieved to know they didn't stop his body from producing seratonin, and long term use caused no damage. I think he smokes about a packet a day, and if left to his own devices he would drink 2 bottles of wine a day, bith of which are depressants, and the gp and I have been gently pushing him towards stopping. He hates smoking, never does so in front of the dc, they don't even know he smokes, never smokes in the house or our car, although he does in his work car. In the last week he has had a few days without drinking anything, so that is a major improvement for him, and good weight loss for me, as I don;t have a glass! Grin

I am so stressed about money though, and no hope about me working anytime in the near future. I am thinking stews for the dc and bread and water for dh, just water fior me cos I am not doing carb Grin

smee · 11/07/2011 12:07

Sparkle, that all sounds a bit stressful. It's good your DH is positive about changing, but it sounds like a lot to tackle. Added money worries can't help. Sad

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2011 12:10

it does sound very stressful sparkle- I am sorry Sad

Still here but brain totally fried by Tax at the mo...hi everyone

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2011 16:05

oh poor amber - hope you can relax and rest.
Oh dear too- ds home and said he messed up a bit in exam- not sure how accurate he is being, may be too hard on himself but I hope he has done ok -the previous two grade earned him merits and he feels he might even fail this Sad He says he forgot some words and had to start again - and think he might have played the wrong note on the piano to start his unaccompanied song. Anyway, there's some sushi and a bagel to cheer him.

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 11/07/2011 17:19

Oh Junior MAS, music exams are so tough to get through, he has my sympathy. I still remember climbing the creaky stairs to my music exam room, gosh I was glad to leave those days behind me! Big hugs and sushi, bagel and a bit of love from mum sounds the best medicine.

Hi amber, rest up and take care of that befuddled brain. xx

SparkleRainbow · 11/07/2011 17:50

Meant to say SR that your dd looks fantastic! Congratulations. (Brought back a few memories too.)
