new thread here !

OP posts:
topsyturner · 06/07/2011 20:08

Ok , feeling a bit queasy .
Does it normally hit this soon , or is it just the smell of the pig/dogs food ?

KurriKurri · 06/07/2011 20:17

Very likely to be the chemo kicking in topsy, have you taken any of your anti sicks?

topsyturner · 06/07/2011 20:30

Just vommed spectacularly all over the stairs and upstairs hallway !
Didn't quite make it to the bathroom .

They gave me anti sicks , but told me not to start them till tomorrow .

Do I need to phone the 24 hour helpline ?
Or just see if I'm sick again ? (Actually feel a fair bit better for having been sick !)
No temperature either .

smee · 06/07/2011 20:30

I think it's chemo kicking in too, Topsy. Like Kurri says, keep taking the tablets. I feel quite neglected by my Oncs, as no fireburning nether region steroids for me. I had some for the last 3 cycles (Tax), but those were tablet form.

MAS, sorry about your friend. How annoying. Can you all descend on her, or is that just playing into her hands?

Grin at Sparkle's clever chicken.

Kurri, poor you with the blister. Hope it eases overnight. Hope DH survives his dinner too. I hope at least he gets delicious food. Not sure if he'd really like to be my DH. He's cycling all the way down through France, then Switzerland, then onto Grenoble, carrying tent, etc. Clearly bonkers. Grin

Pink, did you get the paint out of your wig?!

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/07/2011 20:39

hope you aren't sick again topsy Sad
My friend has never been to visit me here, despite being invited lots of times so feel a bit cross - I sort of knew she wouldn't come. I know she's odd about travelling but it's onl;y an hour away,in a nice car with nice company. Dammit- I want her to see where I live [huffy emoticon]
Someone told me that Tour de France cyclists never stop to go to the loo and poo on the saddle (sorry topsy-that won't help your sickness)

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 06/07/2011 20:56

See how it goes topsy, sickness to some degree is normal, but if you are being constantly very sick, you might get dehydrated. Try to drink some water after you've just been sick - so you're less likely to lose it straight away. (I'm sure you know that, but easy to forget when you're feeling yuk).

Have you got anything like peppermint tea, or ginger or lemon tea, that can sometimes help with sickness a little bit.

smee · 06/07/2011 20:57

Heck Topsy, x posted. Sad it's hitting you like that. I don't understand why they told you to wait before taking the drugs. I was told to take them straight away. Call them and ask, they really won't mind.

KurriKurri · 06/07/2011 20:58

Grr to your friend MAS - that is annoying.

Shock at pooing on the saddle story. I would have thought they cleared out their systems beforehand as it were. If there is saddle pooing going on it must get pretty rank in the midst of the race.

amberlight · 06/07/2011 21:24

Topsy, I take my antisickness the minute I'm back from the chemo as a top-up. And I sip ginger beer and wear those seaband thingies on my wrists if I'm still feeling sick. If the sickness still happens, they can give you stronger stuff to stop it.

smee · 06/07/2011 21:32

Poo on saddle - if true must mean poo in lycra. Shock I happen to know that they hold it in all day. It's the sort of vital question I ask DH and drives him mad. No wonder he's fled to France to watch it without me. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/07/2011 22:47

I am bound to be concerned with my loo anxiety !

OP posts:
pinkstarlight · 06/07/2011 22:51

well done topsy for getting through your chemo, there are many different kinds of anti sickness tablets if they are not strong enough get them changed.what i do is start my anti sickness tablets 24 hours before chemo to get them in my system.

topsyturner · 07/07/2011 07:38

Morning .

Just been sick for the 4th time .
Took my anti sickness drugs just under an hour before .
Do you think they will still be in me ?

Do you think I need to phone the help line for stronger drugs ?

amberlight · 07/07/2011 07:54

Topsy, yes. You need stronger potion than that, so I'd give them a ring, definitely.

Hugs

topsyturner · 07/07/2011 09:03

Got to go back into hospital for fluids and and an iv of anti sickness drugs .
They told me to expect to be there all day .

Speak to you later .

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/07/2011 09:39

good luck topsy,take care x

Poor topsy. I hope they sort you out today so you can get on with life a bit better.

Tee hee, you have all been busy as usual. I have just caught up briefly and you have all made me laugh (though I am very sorry, MAS, about your friend blowing you out again).

I was at a conference all day yesterday and have tons of stuff to do for work, the school fete (groan) and also my onc check-up. Also a funeral to go to tomorrow - so not posting but definitely watching, laughing - and also willing topsy on, of course.

I'll be back after the weekend. Three cheers if you will, though, for my IT chaps who finally (after three of them working on it for five hours - God knows what the bill will be like - eek) sorted out my phone. Apparently the o2 server wouldn't talk to their server, even though it regularly does for all their other BlackBerry customers. Bloody technology. But still - HOORAY!!!!!!

pinkstarlight · 07/07/2011 10:12

poor topsy ,i hope they get you sorted and you feel better later.

woke feeling a bit odd earlier very shivery, cold and sickly and of course the dreaded leg ache,it seems to have passed for now thank goodness with the help of all my pills.

daughter has just gone back today to her uni town to see her b/f who is working his way through the summer.so proud of her she passed her first year with a 2.1( not that this year really counts) but she can relax for the rest of the summer.she knows so many people who will have to resit or do the first year again its so good she doesnt have to worry about any of that.

smee · 07/07/2011 10:34

Topsy, well done on being pro-active. Far better to get the sickness under control, so hope this does the trick xx

Pink, really well done to your DD. No wonder you're proud. Brilliant she did so well, especially as she must have been worried about you. Smile

  • Hooray for Cakes's tech team. See you don't need to be techy yourself, you have a whole geek-set to to do it for you. Grin Hope funeral is okay, and that it doesn't rain on the fete, if it's this weekend.

Nothing to tell here - am off to Dental hygenist in a mo. Did anyone else find their gums suffered under chem? Nothing too drastic, but the dentist said I have the teeniest bit of gum disease starting at the bottom on the back. She said she quite often sees it after chemo. Yet another bloody side effect. Hmm

Pure trivia here, but in the Guardian yesterday was an interview with Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), who I love and apparently she's had BC too. Not sure why, but she's such a strong character that it quite cheered me.

pinkstarlight · 07/07/2011 11:38

smee...yes i am proud she was also one of the first 87 people to get swine flu last year and was very ill herself for weeks shes done amazing.my mouths terrible stinging and fizzing but so far no ulcers or major problems i just keep gargling with diifflam,it does cause problems finding food i can tolerate todays lunch is going to be cream crackers and cheese triangles with salsa sause dont ask me how that works it just does lol.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/07/2011 11:50

hygienists are scary - my dentist doesn't send me as i think I scrub my teeth to within an inch of their life ! I did see her once and she made my gums bleed with all her picking and scraping- eew.
Well done to pink's dd - what a star Smile
I love Nurse Jackie and Edie Falco is great ! I had heard about her bc too.
Ok, must get back to dusting/cleaning - sooo boring.
Talking of dust - I have several friends in Phoenix,Arizona-where there was an incredible dust storm - the cars were blackened and they could taste the dust in the house. I shoul;d be grateful for just a bit of old fluff !

SparkleRainbow · 07/07/2011 13:05

Just nipping in! I am trying to get dd1's birthday party sorted, she is 6 on saturday, chasing hospitals, records and appts for ds, and have got sports day for ds tomorrow at his new school, as well as horse riding for dd1 after school tonight. So will be reading to keep up with you all, but not posting so much, sorry guys.

Topsy, I hope they are sorting you out right now, and you are feeling better soon. Pink, well done to your dd! Smee can your ds take over the whole world saving thing solo for the next few days, my ds is knackered!

Will put the Brew on before I go, and leave some virtual chocolate cake, as the trial run for dd1's birthday cake....oh arghh got to make that too!

KurriKurri · 07/07/2011 13:58

Poor you Topsy, I hope they are getting you sorted out, and the IV stuff works quickly - what a pain for you. Hugs from me too.

Hooray for sorted technology Cakes, good luck with the next few busy days, I hope the funeral goes peacefully tomorrow.

Well done to your DD pink - you must be very pleased for her, she's done brilliantly. I hope the aches and pains settle down.

Hope you are feeling OK today too Amber, not too shattered from the tax. truck.

Smee - I've had a lot of gum shrinkage (delightful!) since chemo, - could just be old age I suppose but it did coincide - leaving me with sensitive teeth.
I like Edie Falco too, she does seem a really strong woman.

Happy birthday to little sparkle for Sunday

Also my little Scruffy dog is fourteen today. She is guarding her present (a squeaky ball with a furry tail coming out of it Grin) she also has anew water bowl but she wasn't as interested in that.

I went to yoga at the cancer centre this morning, and a new woman started - you know when you meet someone and you think straight away 'I think we're going to get on' it was like that, she was really nice and we had a good long chat.

Good luck with the dusting MAS, the dusting elf seems to have forgotten to do my house. Damn - that means I'll have to do it.

smee · 07/07/2011 15:06

Hygienist was fine. She doesn't think my gums are too bad, but I have bought floss as she was a bit stern. Grin

Sparkle, is he enjoying new school? I hope he is and also hope Sports Day doesn't bring any new injuries. My DS will happily save the world solo for a few days. He built a laboratory under his bed yesterday, with exactly that purpose in mind. I haven't dared to look..

Happy Birthday Scruffy. Fourteen's a good ol' age for a dog. Smile

MAS, stop dusting. i can't remember the last time I did any and you're making me feel guilty. Grin

Hope Topsy's home safe soon, and nausea's left at the hospital.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/07/2011 15:10

stern sums them up ! I love floss though
Happy Birthday to Scruffy - is he having dog cake ? Celeste is very excited by Whiskas cat treats -quite good for luring her in when it's time to lock her cat door.
It's ok,have finished dusting ! Am going to do some work once ds is home.
Hope topsy is ok and everyone else of course Grin
Am thinking of buying a straw hat - any nice ones about ?
