Can't think of anything useful to say topsy- except that things seem to be moving along - just wish it wasn't happening to you..lots of love x

Hi Topsy, You sound like you're doing well to even get up. Very impressed that you called Macmillan/ Doctor, etc. Really wish I could say something useful. Did they tell you much yesterday, or have you got a big meet tomorrow to discuss it all? I hope you've got a large coffee and are able to sit somewhere sunny while you wait. xx

Pink, your children are so independent! Am v.glad to hear the shed's half saffron. Sure sign you're mostly feeling okay and of course it's a fab colour. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2011 11:09

pink- your children do sound as though they're getting on with things- ds will have work experience next year - can't quite imagine it ! Shed colour sounds v nice and warm.

3/4 of the shed done wave of sickness so had to stop feeling a bit better now daily fix of mushrooms on toast and sickness tablets seem to have done the trick.

smee · 05/07/2011 11:59

MAS, that singing is so sweet - even with the slightly gruff voice. I love the mix of gauche and confident. So v.much a man, yet still a boy. He is lovely. Smile

Pink, yeay for tablets working a bit better this time. Must be a relief. Smile

pinkstarlight · 05/07/2011 12:12

im so dim someone give my brain a shake, why did i not paint the side of the shed first.wondering how easy it will be to get paint out of a wig before i start lol

cakesandale · 05/07/2011 12:18

Thinking about you topsy - and very impressed that you have got things moving with GP etc. I hope you can draw some strength from the fact that the medics and McMillan are all getting stuff moving quickly. Like pink says, we're right alongside you.

MAS - am off to look at the video.
Pink - it's great that your kids are all getting on with their stuff. Shed sounds lovely.
Smee - that warden is going to have it in for you!

Here, my tech problems are getting more and more complex. But I have left the frigging BlackBerry with our lovely IT people: the boss there came for a chat with me while the techies were working on it, and when he heard how upset i have been about it all (drama queen, I know) he sent me home promising to sort it, get it fully tested, answer it politely if it rings, and deliver it to my house later. We have known him for years, of course he knows all about the BC and I think that has had something to do with his approach. Bless. x

SparkleRainbow · 05/07/2011 12:50

Hi Topsy, I too can not offer prayers, as like smee I don't do that, but I have lighted a candle for you, and am sending all my love and thoughts, and as everyone has said, we are here for you.

Ds is a little down today, he was very quiet in the car on the way to school, he was holding his chest, but he says he was ok, just felt sad. I don't know if it is the school move hitting him, missing his friends, nervous energy taking its toll on him, or because he has a physio appt this afternoon at the hospital....probably a combination, but it makes me so sad to see a little boy who should be so full of life, so drained of it. Sad

MAS off to look at your video

Cakes Smile what a nice IT man.

Smee watch your back with that warden, your card will be marked, rather like the bears waiting for "sillys" to step on the lines of the squares. (lone that poem)

Pink hope you haven't actually got paint on the wig....hmm saffron highlights...could be all the rage. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2011 13:27

sending a comforting hug to junior sparkle, bless him.
Paint in the wig sounds rather fetching pink Grin and hooray for lovely IT man cakes.
Ds was calm and jolly all day yesterday and only nervous just before (I felt anxious all day !) He is incredibly shy and I do like smee's description of him ! I think he'll fit into his voice eventually . An angelic sounding boy doing the same exam sang a bit after him- his voice still unbroken.

smee · 05/07/2011 15:28

Pink! Grin

Sparkle, my DS is exhausted and a bit like yours and he's been having a stress free time, so am not at all surprised your DS is like that with all he has to face. Bring on the summer holidays I say. How's your patio? Room for me too amidst the dogs and the chickens? Smile

MAS, I'd be so proud if that was my boy. I'd never have ever done something like that at his age. Very brave.

Cakes, your IT man sounds perfect. Hope he's sorted you. The Traffic warden says he'll cross the round whenever he sees me from now on. Blush

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2011 15:43

thanks smee Blush

Right .
Face on .
Time to go pick the kids up .

Going to ask the clinic tomorrow about this cyber knife whatsit .
Thanks for the heads up about that .

Got a wig yesterday .
I think it will stay in its box for a while !
(Apart from my very blonde haired neighbour who tried it on and it looked so weird we had to put a pic up on facebook !)

SparkleRainbow · 05/07/2011 16:14

He did so well MAS, I am impressed, he didn't even look that nervous, although I bet he was. Well done Jr MAS!

Grin at traffic warden crossing over when he sees you.....some people would pay good money to have that effect on traffic wardens!!

We have completed more of the terrace patio (sorry mum) over the weekend, including cementing in the base of our very large suspended sun umbrella, looking fab. We have got part way up the slope to the front door door, which makes levels quite tricky Confused, but it is looking good. There is always room for you smee, now there is even more room! It looks vast!!! Speaking of chickens, we now have 18 (chicken sitting for friends have added their 6), the chicks are growing well, and my favourite hen is sitting on another 11 eggs for the next round!

SparkleRainbow · 05/07/2011 16:15

x post topsy, sorry.

Big hugs xx

cakesandale · 05/07/2011 16:35

Go Topsy! You're quite a woman.
x

amberlight · 05/07/2011 16:45

Topsy, everything crossed for you and more prayers if they help.
Just back from tax chemo 7. They're impressed with bloods, but really having problems with fluid retention now so may go to see my friendl GP and talk it through with her.

smee · 05/07/2011 17:05

Sparkle, you have a favourite chicken? Shock I hope the others don't know. Grin

Amber, great you're through no.7 - seems mean you're having more than I did. Did they ever explain that to you? Only one to go though, so YEAY!! Hope your GP friend can help with the fluid retention.

  • Topsy. You really are something. Keep talking to us. Will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for some positive treatment ideas.
MaryAnnSingleton · 05/07/2011 17:21

amazing topsy -you'll get through this !
Chickens sound wonderful sparkle and patio too Grin
Well done amber - you're very nearly there !

Hello all, have just got back from Cambridge, I'm exhausted and have a 10p sized blister on the sole of each foot.

I've read through all you posts. Amber I'm glad you've got your 7th under your belt, I hope you get the fluid retention sorted out soon Smile

Topsy, I'm glad the Macmillan people are helping you with forms etc. the hospital sounds as if its getting moving, and getting your treatment worked out.
Of course you are feeling down today, but as everyone says you are some woman - phoning the GP and being so organized. If you want to talk I'll be around all evening.I've been thinking about you all day. Much love xxxx

amberlight · 05/07/2011 19:39

KK, ow re blister! Was it worth it, though?

Smee, nope, never any really clear idea why I'm on 4 fec and 4 tax, other than that I'm 47 and it's a grade 3. Not sure there's research to suggest it's better than 3 +3 or even FEC x 6. But this is one of the country's top oncs so she must be up to something. Or has a special offer on chemo this year and gets a free holiday with every eight visit ;-)

KurriKurri · 05/07/2011 19:56

It was worth it Amber - we had a lovely day, went round the Botanical gardens, then walking into the city centre walked along the backs and had a picnic, and treated ourselves to a cream tea, and DD spent some happy time browsing in a second hand sheet music shop. But it was a hot hot day.

I think my DX was very similar to yours, -I was 48, HER2+ and stage 3, - I had 4 FEC and 4 cmf, followed by herceptin.

Well done to MAS junior for his singing - brave lad, and hugs to little Sparkle, - hope he feels a bit better tomorrow, - bound to take him a little while to adjust Smile

smee · 05/07/2011 20:32

Cambridge sounds lovely, Kurri. Am jealous, and definitely sounds like it was worth a blister.

Amber, if she gets a free holiday, she must have to take you surely?! Grin

Is interesting how they give us all something different. I was 44 and grade 3/ stage 3, but had 3xFEC / 3xTax. Seems mean to put you through 4 lots of each. You deserve a medal.

Just back from a swim. Cycled too, so am feeling v. virtuous. I do however feel the need for chocolate..Hmm

KurriKurri · 05/07/2011 21:01

I should add that I was on trial so that may have influenced my treatment, in fact now that my brain has clunked back into gear, I realise it was nothing to do with my DX and entirely to do with the trial, - I could have been randomly assigned to one with fewer cycles - as they said 'you've drawn the short straw' - why do I forget things and then make something up? Confused Grin

Cambridge is lovely, but packed with tourists atm. DD and I are planning quite a few girls' days out this summer, this was just the start Grin

KurriKurri · 05/07/2011 21:01

Oh good for you for all the sporty stuff - well done Smile
