can I join in the bits falling out thread too - yes, I am officially another sufferer having plucked up courage to go to the docs this week! Sadly, ignored it too long and am also being referred to the gynae for surgery but am now very excited at the prospect of having a "designer vagina".

Tamba - I know it varies from region to region, but how long did you have to wait for an appointment at hospital?

Muma3 - I left it because I was too embarrassed to go to the docs - now regret it as the examination was less intrusive than a smear - took her all of 10 seconds to confirm the problem!
Good luck for tomorrow.

Tamba · 17/11/2005 21:42

I havent had a letter from the hospital yet, am still waiting but i hope it doesnt take long!

Hubby is very pleased at the idea of me having a 'designer vagina!' i think if i didnt try and see the positive side then id worry to much.

I am pretty relaxed about the whole thing atm but i think i will worry more when i actually have to have the Op done.

muma3 · 17/11/2005 21:55

still panicking .
just got in the bath but thought i would feel and check again and i think its either same or worse , what if i cant have anymore childern ?

will i ever be able to have sex again or my last planned baby?

OP posts:
jayzmummy · 17/11/2005 22:04

I had a prolapse. Go to your GP and tell them the problem. They will refer you on. Dont worry, hard I know. It can be put right quite easily. It happens to thousands of women each year, so im sure your GP will be supportive.
Good luck.

muma3 · 17/11/2005 23:20

does it hurt any of you?

OP posts:
Tamba · 17/11/2005 23:22

Sex hurts, tampax hurts and i get an uncomfortable feeling in my lower back at times. But the sooner i get it sorted the sooner i will be able to get back to normal. Try to look at it as a means to an end (or what ever the saying is) all the embarrassment, will be worth it in the end xxxxx

prolapsesrus · 18/11/2005 08:16

Muma3 - My prolapse is at its worst around the time of my period and for the next 10 days or so - I think probably due to the changes and the flow "dragging it down" so to speak. Like Tamba, I can't use tampax and sex is too painful and I also have a low back ache and feeling of nausea like when you are first pregnant. However, I do have one good week when I don't notice it for some reason before my period again and spend all my time doing pelvic floor exercises in the naive hope that it will do some good - rather too late I think

I look on the bright side - it is very common (I think I read somewhere that gynae surgeons spend about 40% of their time dealing with prolapses), it is a damn nuisance, sure, but not life threatening and it can be easily mended!

Be brave and good today - thinking of you.

ok i went !!!!!!!!
didnt need to be examined he said that it is easy to spot yourself and from the state of me he could see that something was definitly wrong.
referring me and (apparently rare at my age) so i should get an appointment in next few weeks . otherwise it could take months.
he had come across it before but not at my age (23years old if noone knew) . was open about the subject and asked lots of questions . made it sound normal and certainly put me to ease.
yes i will have to have an operation and not quite sure what yet because i want 1 more baby.
think that wont happen now so........
any thanks for all your help people over last few days lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Muma3 - Really pleased to hear that you have seen the doctor. You sound a lot calmer now and I hope that you feel calmer too. I hope that your appointment comes through quickly. Let us know how you get on. I have a feeling that, given I am nearly twice your age, I may have a long wait in store!!

HunkerMunkerSitsInBeans · 18/11/2005 20:26

Really really glad you went and it wasn't as bad as you'd thought. Hope that your partner is more supportive very soon.

muma3 · 18/11/2005 22:22

got to go bk on thursday to speak to one of the nurses , she used to be a midwife. they want to fit a ring so im more comfortable untill the op but i really dont like the sound of it . apparently its just like a diaphram (contraceptive disc) but the thought of it coming out and ME having to put it back makes me want to be sick .
Dont think its for me ,but will still go and see her because i can get more answers and advice and be examined to see how bad it is

Thanks again - tamba, your a real help for me , to know that you are young too helps because i was starting to feel like a freak !!
how many babys have you had ?
anyway thanks again all and i will let you all know the updates xx
