Well done - another one out of the way Amber, but sorry you feel sick - that's a pain - hope it passes quickly. And good luck with the frozen gloves and sweetcorn - I'm sending your nails positive thoughts Smile And sending the heavy mob to scare your blood counts into behaving Grin

A big-pants tent Grin -Sparkle I like your style!

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/05/2011 17:52

sorry about the Envy feelings amber - frozen hands and feet sound bizarre, but hope it works
figgy don't despair- it might be that things slow down after a bit, then get shrinking again...hope you are ok tomorrow and not too Envy
Thanksfor kind words about my dad's painting- I think the underwater one should have been submitted as I like it more than the first pike - but they're both lovely and am upset for him. Will tell him all my tamoxifen pals appreciate him Grin. He will be happy though as I've bought him a painting for his birthday by a fantastic young man who I've discovered - if you like wild and dramatic landscapes he's your man. My dad admires his work greatly and in turn Paul bailey, the artist really loves dad's work...

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 24/05/2011 17:55

this is Paul Bailey's work- you like ?

SparkleRainbow · 24/05/2011 18:03

Personally Amber I think the more choice words the better for your blood counts, lets shock them into submission Wink

Figgy does clinically shrunk means that it hasn't grown over the period they would have expected it too, which is a very good thing?! I am sending you very positive shrinking vibes, and big hugs for having had a disappointing day. I am sending good non sicky vibes for your FEC tomorrow.

Off to look at Paul Bailey's work now

SparkleRainbow · 24/05/2011 18:07

I love the black thicket paintings, very moody and expressive. My dh's German uncle painted a similar themed painting which we have hanging in our sitting room, I could just stare at it for hours.

amberlight · 24/05/2011 20:08

Figgy, grr re the stubbornly rude lump. 50% of them put up a fight but the advantage is that if they know it's a fighty one now, they can tailor the treatment to attack it properly. I hear blueberries can have quite an effect on rude ones - I'm having a go with eating as many as I can afford, just in case.

I'm thinking up some choice words...Better feel ok for tomorrow as I'm meeting up with about 14 other bc ladies in my home town for the first time (eek and yippee in equal measure)

smee · 24/05/2011 20:12

Arf at rain cover pants. Grin But it won't rain on our picnic. Pure sun definitely. Smile

Figgy, that must have been hard to hear, but just because it hasn't shrunk doesn't mean bad news in that it could still be decimating the cancer cells. MAS is right I reckon. And I'll be rooting for you tomorrow. Another one down for you too then. Hooray for that. Smile

MAS, yes I like very much. Wonderful depth and movement, even on-line. Did you get him one of the landscapes? Bet he'll be thrilled. + who ate the Fish Pie? My money's on Celeste. Grin

Amber I will mutter a few stern words for you. Collectively we'll send those counts soaring. Smile

Just me and DS tonight, which is nice as I can cook something simple and slump. Now there's a good word. 'Slump'

I wish you all a slumpful night then. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/05/2011 20:17

I got dad a painting of a moody silhouetted tree and standing stones (from his exhibition, not on folksy) Dad thrilled ! Pie in the oven - have had enough fizzy wine to counteract any qualms about it !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 24/05/2011 20:19

Oh Figgy I must have x posted somehow, I didn't see your post.

I think Sparkle might be right about the clinically shrunk phrase, and if so, that is good news. And your mastectomy will go ahead which is good. I understand how disappointed you feel though, - always a downer when you'd hoped for a different result. But yes - onwards and upwards, - good luck with the FEC tomorrow, hope you manage well again this time, I'm sure you will Smile

MAS - I love those paintings especially the mountain ones - very atmospheric.

Enjoy your meet up tomorrow Amber - I find BC ladies quite the best kind of folk Smile I've got a nice recipe for blueberry muffins somewhere - I'll look it out and post for anyone who wants a blueberry boost.

SparkleRainbow · 25/05/2011 08:03

Right now listen hear ladies.........my electricity gets turned off for the day in about an hour, pleasures of living in rural england, they don't feel they need to provide a continuous supply Hmm. So good luck to those who need it today (Figgy I sending good vibes) Oi you blood counts I am watching you........ (big hugs and rest up amber) and I will pop on later and see how many posts you guys can crank it up to today! Grin Have the best day you can everyone, and if you head off for an impromptu picnic save me a bit!

KurriKurri · 25/05/2011 08:43

Lots of love for today Figgy, hope it all goes well Smile

Sparkle - fill lots of flasks with hot water so you can still have a Brew - see you later.

here at last is the long awaited centipede - he is being supported by a broom handle because I was desperately trying to avoid being in the photo Grin

centipede puppet

I'm out all day - so you can be as rude as you like about it Grin

topsyturner · 25/05/2011 09:18

Morning all (again !)

Still no news . Put in a call to the BCNs yesterday , they gave me my surgeons secretarys number .
Called the secretary , voice mail , left a message at lunch time yesterday . And have not had a call back . Leaving it till after lunch today , then will start making a nuisance of myself Grin

MAS - hope you are not poisoned by last nights fish pie !

Figgy - have they given you a date for your surgery yet ?

Sparkle - hope your pain eases soon .

Kurri - I think counselling is a great idea .

Smee - mind those GA big pants dont chafe Grin

Amber - hope you are feeling ok after yesterdays course of treatment .

Picnic ???
Who is bringing the houmous and veg sticks ?

topsyturner · 25/05/2011 09:19

Very cool centipede Kurri

topsyturner · 25/05/2011 09:19

PS - MAS your cat is beautiful Smile

cakesandale · 25/05/2011 09:56

MAS - I love the paintings by Paul Turner - The Bothy looks like a place I know in Cornwall, and Dark Wood is just so full of light (oddly - although maybe that's the point).

Amber and Figgy - chins up ladies. Hope you aren't feeling too sick today. You are doing brilliantly. I do like the picture in my head of amber taking the frozen food aisle into the chemo suite and then wearing it, and I am sorry that the news was ambiguous figgy. But I agree with MAS and all - just because it hasn't receded as much as hoped, it doesn't mean it isn't on the ropes. Try to stay positive and keep with the programme, so they can continue to kick its ass. Good results soon I feel sure.

Topsy - chase, chase, chase. Sometimes it is the only way. If you need us to write placards and come and picket let us know - quick, now, while the ash cloud is going the other way.

I like all the picnic food ideas - especially the iced gems. I'm there, and I'll bring the humous and veg sticks if you like, amber, it'll earn me diet points (esp if I eat any and leave the iced gems alone).

I wish you all good (or at least clinically effective) days, and will check in later.

KK, the centipede is seriously fantastic. x

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/05/2011 10:03

triple wow for the amazing centipede KK - you are so clever - it's brilliant !
Have survived the fish pie, which was very delicious indeed Grin
Hope you are feeling more chipper today amber and that figgy has a trouble free treatment.
topsy- I do hope you get a response from bcn - keep chivvying them if you don't- and thanks for nice complement about Celeste !

amberlight · 25/05/2011 10:06

Not feeling too bad. Sickness wore off about 6pm and hasn't returned. Tired but that's because the bloomin' steroid megadose kicked in and kept me awake most of the night. Oh well. At work now.
I think the staff there are fascinated to know what I'll turn up with next time - frozen fish fingers, stir fry frozen veg??!

I'll happily eat all the iced gems if people don't want them!

Just writing that placard now, Topsy. Let me know if you want any braziers burning (er, I think that's what strike protestors light for warmth, or it could be a protest against bras - can't remember...)

smee · 25/05/2011 10:38

Centipede's fantastic, Kurri. I love the feet, v.cute. You are clever. Smile

Hooray for MAS surviving fish pie, though boo for Sparkle being cut off. We all know you haven't paid the bill, Sparkle. All that kettle filling can be mighty expensive. Wink

Topsy, definitely chase. It's outrageous you haven't been called back. So cruel to keep you in limbo like this. I'll volunteer a placard too, though I'm not standing next to Cakes if all she's bringing is vegetables..

Amber, seeing as it's you, I'll share the iced gems. Really glad you're okay-ish. Good on you for getting to work. Don't overdo it though. Smile

Hoping Figgy gets through treatement okay today. And all others on treatment are okay too.

I found DS forensically dissecting the house early this morning looking for birthday presents (he's 7 tomorrow). He got all excited by a box of vacuum cleaner bags before I told him what they were. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/05/2011 10:44

Grin at junior smee's vacuum bags ! hope he has a wonderful birthday !

OP posts:
cakesandale · 25/05/2011 11:02

Happy birthday little smee. Enjoy your vacuum cleaner bags Grin

What's he really getting, then? DD is 8 in June and we have no clue.

Glad the fish pie was ace MAS, I am seriously jealous, it's my very, very fave.

smee · 25/05/2011 11:04

He's getting a basket ball hoop for our teeny garden - DH is going to fix it to the back of the house and insists it'll be fine - watch the glass smashing mayhem begin. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/05/2011 11:21

Cakes- you need my book for 8 year olds ! is published in June (have asked for some advanced copies,so if they come quickly I could send you a free one)
it's called I'm 8 and I've Burped 40,908 times! by Mitchell Symons

OP posts:
cakesandale · 25/05/2011 11:37

Ooh a hoop is a good idea, she'd like that. Hmm. We could attach it to the garage where there is no pesky glass.... You have my sympathies, though Grin

MAS that book sounds just the ticket. I'd happily pay but I guess it won't be out in time? (Her birthday is 23rd)

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/05/2011 11:47

will be out on June 3rd !! so with any luck I shall have a few copies before dd's bday

OP posts:
cakesandale · 25/05/2011 11:54

Oh wow, thank you. I just spoke to dh and he laughed like a drain.
