MaryAnnSingleton · 16/06/2011 15:43

cakes- forgot to say- tell me about your blackberry - can I ask how much/what scheme etc - I would like one but am a bit clueless.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 16/06/2011 17:30

Seen it too, KK!

Erm, my Blackberry is a 9300 and the price quoted by O2 was £169.99. But I have been with them for years and I upgraded my package to something called a 0060 02 100 24 month contract so I could get internet and email access on it, and they gave the handset to me for free !!!!!! Who knew?????
Anyway that only costs £21.50 a month so quite a modest outlay all in all.

They said my sim card was an antique Blush and gave me a new one of those as well. Now I just have to work out how to use it. I have made a call, but that is it so far.

smee · 16/06/2011 17:43

Talking dog sounds like the best part to get to me Topsy. Hope he's extraordinary. Grin. I was having chemo last year during summer holidays. It wasn't ideal, but actually it was easier than I thought. Not sure if you know this yet, but there's a rhythm to each chemo cycle, so once you've had one you can start to predict which day's you'll feel low and plan round that. We managed a few long weekends away amidst it all. I even went camping [mad fool!]

Cakes and MAS; what a fantastic combination and you can use us all as proof readers. Brilliant idea.

Had a lovely lunch with my friend at the NFT on the Southbank. Had to dash back to get DS from school, so missed out on pudding. Might have to rectify that tonight. Wink

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/06/2011 17:58

I remember smee's camping !
Am still none the wiser about the blackberry, though a free blackberry sounds the ticket !!

smee · 16/06/2011 18:45

Like Cakes, I too was a mobile dinosaur, so was entitled to a free up-grade to a Blackberry. It is so much better than my old wind up one. Grin

pinkstarlight · 16/06/2011 20:47

pinkstarlight · 16/06/2011 20:55

topsy..when i told my kids especially my son i kept it simple as possible and just said i had a lump that shouldnt be there and for me to get better i would have to take some nasty medicine which will cause side effects including my hair would would fall out.kids are amazing they will just adapt to any situation.

smee · 16/06/2011 21:10

Sounds like a lovely day, Pink. Glad you've got a bit more energy. I'd guess that means your bloods are okay. Fingers crossed for Monday then. Smile

I'm off to Edinburgh for weekend tomorrow to meet up with a group of v.old friends, which means a whole two nights without DH or DS. Am most excited by the train journey. Four blissful hours to read with no interruptions. Smile

Hope everyone has a good weekend and all those on treatment are feeling okay x

KurriKurri · 16/06/2011 21:40

That does sound a good day Pink - good for you Smile fingers crossed for good blood results .

Smee - lucky you Envy I went to Edinburgh University, - it's one of my favourite cities. Two of my nieces live there so I get to visit fairly regularly. Have a lovely time, and enjoy your reading (what book is it? Grin)

smee · 16/06/2011 22:29

Jonathan Franzen's 'Freedom' - been saving it up. I will wave a hello to Edinburgh from you, Kurri. Smile

KurriKurri · 16/06/2011 23:00

Sounds good - have fun Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/06/2011 23:14

Good luck for your bloods Pink , hope it goes your way .

Enjoy Edinburgh Smee . Might be a tad wet this weekend (they normally have similar weather to us !)

Cakes - I too am a Blackberry girl . I have the bold or the curve , I can never remember which ! I use it constantly for email and texting and general web surfing . I have a great deal from Orange as I am a long term customer of theirs . I get 500 talk minutes , unlimited texts and unlimited web usage . All for £18.00 per month !

Play was fabulous . Biased mother alert Grin , but the talking dog (called Teaser) stole the show . Alot of ad libbing according to his teacher !

Although I have now officially been classed as a "Person Who Must Be Pitied" .
Our notoriously hard line and very tough headmistress came over and hugged me at the end of the performance !
I don't know who was more shocked , me or her Grin .

Lazy day today methinks .
A - I feel quite knackered for some reason this morning .
B - It's peeing down out there , and our local weather lady has just given out a severe weather warning for heavy rain for the entire day .

topsyturner · 17/06/2011 08:08

PS - Any book reccomendations ? Am restocking the Kindle today . I love a good thriller .

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2011 09:11

hooray for talking dog and not so tough headmistress Grin
Rest up today-it's going to be wet and miserable here too (though I must go out)

Morning all!

Not sure what new phone to get - having had a disaster with the iPhone 4 breaking so not using that brand again. Need something with really good battery life and very reliable. I'm a Nokia fan, but their phones are SO far behind with the technology of the others now. Must to go a phone shop and have a really good browse and hope for a salesperson who speaks English rather than Engineering.

Feeling a bit more side-effectly today after tax on Tuesday. Keeping myself going at work with various potions etc.

Got Brew on for those in need.

cakesandale · 17/06/2011 09:45

Topsy - mine's the Curve. It is nice, but this morning I even needed help to turn it on Blush Your deal sounds better than mine though Envy

Bless your soft-in-the-middle head teacher. It's something that you'll have to get used to, however. One day, mid chemo, a Mum from the school who I just about knew by name turned up on my doorstep, with flowers, and burst into tears. DH was astonished. it ended up with ME giving HER a hug and telling her not to worry, it would all be OK Grin

Pink - I agree with smee, the blessed extra energy suggests to me that your bloods are better. Hope so. Fingers crossed for Monday.

Do I detect a picture being done, KK and MAS? If so, you'll love it. DD had one for Xmas and everyone loves it, and I still intend to get Mum's done.

MAS - i am spending time this weekend thinking and will get back to you on the book thing. I am so excited!!!

Smee -Envy over 4 blissful hours of reading. I hope you get a nice peaceful carriage.

Hope everyone else (Keepingquiet, LGF, Limejelly, amber and all) is feeling OK. Reasonably well and Not Stressed. x

Dd's birthday party here on Sunday. Gulp!

cakesandale · 17/06/2011 09:47

Crossposted, amber. I am impressed you know so much about phone makes. I can't advise, as you can tell from me previous embarrassing post about my cluelessness. I'll have a Brew

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/06/2011 10:01

ooh I'll have a Brew thanks !
I know little about phones having a very basic one that just does phone calls ! I so long to have and all singing and dancing one though !
Yes,KK and I are in discussions about something for dd Grin
Haven't forgotten about your mum's picture either Cakes- just let me know when to go ahead...
I think our book could go far- feel really, really enthused - and we have all our researchers here Grin
Went to bookgroup which was very jolly- some nice paprika crisps from Co-Op -=may need to buy some...but didn't eat many-quite restrained.
One of the book groupees had her 40th birthday present on -a Cartier Tank watch-very pretty indeed, but nearly fainted when I looked up the prioce of them on google.
Take care of yourself amber
and hope all goes smoothly for dd's party Cakes !

OP posts:
cakesandale · 17/06/2011 10:07

Cartier Tank watch???? Blimey, how the other half lives Grin

I am dreading the party already. It's a swimming one and, from experience, it is all a bit of a mad dash, getting all the kids to choose meals, then getting them in the pool, then making sure no-one drowns, then getting them out, and fed, and goody bagged, all in 2 hours. Phew!

Mind you I got some great goody bag gifts Plastic things that you throw at your windows that stick then walk slowly down, spinning tops that do flips, amazing duck quack things, and balloons that light up. Marvellous Wink

amberlight · 17/06/2011 10:35

ooo, those sound like fun!!! Grin
