brand new shiny thread....our tenth !

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 15/06/2011 11:36

why did I put phoned? - he e-mailed [anyone seen my brain?]

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 11:37

We used to have Bertie a lovely old red mini, but the bstds stole it two days after we moved to brum! Haven't names any cars since, some 15 years later, as still grieving for Bertie, now being driven round an eastern european country, I try to think of it as him having an extended hoilday without us!

Grin @amber and Kurri

Rescues are lovely, both our cats were rescues, including the departed Dotty. I haven't yet rescued a dog though because of having small children. I was wandering happily through the lists of rescued horses and ponies yesterday evening.......just a slow thoughtful saunter through Grin

Any ginger thins left?

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 11:39

Love the boot try Grin

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 11:41

If you say £213 really quickly it is not too bad. I so recognise the tutting and sucking sound effects to accompany a big bill - plumbing, cars.....etc.

Ugg It is raining again, and I have to go and feed the chicks their elevenses....they eat more than me, and I am pretty sure my weight loss is a fluke, will avoid scales for the next few days.

amberlight · 15/06/2011 11:43

Oh yes, there seem to be plenty more ginger thins!

Sparkle, try to avoid temptation in those horse lists! I reckon he costs about £750 a month to run, even doing most of the work ourselves!!

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 11:48

Have the land, so no need to pay for livery, and little food costs.....but I am thinking more about the time to care cos it will be me! I am avoiding tempation for now! Grin

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 11:52

Just got off phone with dsis. Why is it some relationships are just so draining? Need to have a sit down now and another of those slimming ginger thins!

amberlight · 15/06/2011 11:52

It's the extras that mount up though (no pun intended Grin ) - saddlery, kits, vets, etc etc. The cost of part livery isn't too bad here and there's 360 acres of grass, but it still costs a packet once they get older or get lame/unwell in any way. And the cost of insurance is Shock! But he's lovely and we wouldn't part with him.

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 11:58

Grin at mounting costs....! In a few years it will be worth it to off set riding lesson costs for dd1, but she is only 6, plus am intending to use horse to keep boys at bay....it is either horse or dh has to get a shot gun licence and they won't give him one with a history of mental health issues Wink

KurriKurri · 15/06/2011 12:01

Ah - the thing is Sparkle - when boys start looking at your girls you get very protective, but when your boys start looking at girls, you wonder why on earth the girls parents are so uptight, when your boy is so wonderful Grin

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 12:05

Grin Too true! I have already picked out the girl for my ds, they have been best friends since they were 5! She will keep him nicely in line, they have planned where they are going to live and what they are going to call their dc!

Dd1 on the other hand, she is going to be a rebelious handful so horses for her!

Jury is out on dd2, cos she is only 2.....

amberlight · 15/06/2011 12:15

Have to laugh at some of the mums around DS. I got the complete interrogation from one of them recently - "what are his prospects/what sort of family are you?!" and I'd only gone round there to pick him up from a tennis lesson with her dd!!

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 12:16

Grin at third degree for junior amber!

smee · 15/06/2011 12:24

Are there any biscuits left?! Lots of munching on here today. Hoping Topsy'll be back with as good as can be expected news in a bit.

Amber, your family have had a bit of a run [understatement]. Here's hoping your BC's the end of it. I like the way you've timetabled your aches. I used to do that too. I even had a wall chart at one point. Blush

Can't catch up with alll, but what's this with the car names? I mean really is that what one does with a car? We have a car, but it has no name. DH uses it for work and I don't use it at all, so often forget we've got it. Our old one had what DS called 'pesto' round the windows (was mould..!), but that had no name either. [inadequate]

DS and his friend have decided they'll get married one day, but the friend's another boy. We have been to a couple of gay weddings of late. Very cute, but I wonder how long before peer pressure makes it a problem.

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 12:25

Dd2 was sitting with me in the kitchen waiting for her boiled egg, when she heard the music "Come outside" on cbeebies, she climbed down saying "its aunty mabel and pippin, I not miss auntie mabel" and headed off at speed! She is a poppet (dd2 that is although am quite fond of Lynda Baron being auntie Mabel!) Grin

smee · 15/06/2011 12:26

x-posted, Amber, but did she really ask 'what are his prospects?!' How very 1950's. Grin

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 12:26

ooo look random alternative spelling for auntie/aunty and punctuation, nice to see I am consistent! Blush

amberlight · 15/06/2011 12:28

smee, yup Grin And in a very scary way, backed up by a stern looking Aunt!

Plenty more ginger thins. And some ginger cake now as well.

Not sure car names are compulsory, but I just like naming cars!

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 12:28

Grin @ Smee ds future wedding plans, may peer pressure never affect what he wants! Grin

Don't know about more biscuits, but have got plenty of eggs if you fancy one!

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 12:29

xposted everybody. What are his prospects" is very 1950's, love it am going to save that one up!

smee · 15/06/2011 12:31

I'll have an egg, though maybe a sliver of ginger cake first. Smile Am thinking of a name for our car...

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 12:33

Can do them anyway you like!

I love ginger cake!

smee · 15/06/2011 12:39

Ta Sparkle - has to be on toast with butter melting and marmite. mmm.... Will wash it down with a Brew

amberlight · 15/06/2011 12:40

Scrambled for me, on buttered toast - yum!

KurriKurri · 15/06/2011 12:40

Grin at 'what are his prospects' - did you say 'what are your daughter's prospects'?

I can't book the flexibus for tomorrow (its a little bus that goes all round the villages picking folk up, and ends up in the local small market town, where I need to be at 10.30 a.m. tomorrow.) but they've no buses before 11 tomorrow.
So I think I will be having a 15 mile round trip on my bike. Hooray Hmm - oh well if it doesn't kill me it will make me stronger Grin
