excellent news amber - don't mind of I do

A maths exam would make me grumpy too. Sad

KurriKurri · 14/06/2011 16:03

Hooray - good for you Amber , Grin

KurriKurri · 14/06/2011 16:04

oh dear - I hope the exam went ok MAS.

smee · 14/06/2011 17:12

Effortless sounds perfect, Amber. That's brilliant. + Ginger thins, mmmm. Am sure they ward off side effects. Grin

Hope grumpy boy's temptable out, MAS. Does he hate maths? Can't say I blame him if he does. Maybe one of Amber's ginger thins..? DS is doing a maths thing today too. Not sure what it is - may be SATs, though it's hard to tell. Yesterday was reading, but all he'd say is he got to see how many times he could jump in a minute. Sounds like my sort of test. Grin Better go get him from his friend's..

amberlight · 14/06/2011 17:13

DS has done his A level Ancient History today and seems to think it's gone 'ok' which is near-miraculous if so. Phew!

KurriKurri · 14/06/2011 17:41

A levels are a stressful time Amber, fingers crossed for him Smile - has he got many left?

I like the sound of the jumping test, Smee - much the best kind of exam. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/06/2011 18:12

ooh, good for junior amber -hope he feels he's done well. Ds has made no comment - have just got in to find him surrounded by snack detritus and still a bit gruff.
Walked to town and my hips really hurt -I feel like an old person. Mindees mum says maybe it's a virus ?

SparkleRainbow · 14/06/2011 18:18

Arghh why am I so fat! Why does fb keeping saying "friends" have posted questions about me and I can't read them, cos it is making me paranoid, why have I always got so much to do, and no time (having spent all day rewriting all emergency paperwork for ds' new school, it is no wonder)

ARGHHHHHH

As you were [sighing emoticon needed]

Brew anyone?

SparkleRainbow · 14/06/2011 18:21

MAS I have heard of a viral condition which can leave residual inflamation and pain in hip joints, don't know if it is all viruses or a specific one, can't remember any other details....have no brain left only mush! Hip pain is a "pain" literally, very debilitating both ds and I find it so, so much sympathy from us. Put your feet up tonight, hot water bottles help too, and painkillers and Wine Wink

smee · 14/06/2011 18:43

'okay' sounds good to me too, Amber. Must be tough for you, him having A-levels at the same time as your chemo. Has he finished yet? Must be close if not.

Sparkle, don't be paranoid. Put your feet up with us instead. I think one of the parents on our school page had similar yesterday. She said it's okay again today.

MAS, I have what sounds similar in my feet. So sore I can hardly walk at times. The Onc said to me that it could be chemo drugs still leaving my system, or Tamoxifen, or the Menopause starting, but apparently v.normal whichever it was. Confused Did you manage to get an appointment for tomorrow? Maybe a hot bath tonight might help.

Hope everyone has a calm, food filled evening - healthy stuff of course. DH away for work, so am thinking fishcakes from the freezer might be the solution.

SparkleRainbow · 14/06/2011 18:54

I am hoping calm will descend soon, maybe after dc bedtime? Wink

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/06/2011 19:06

stay calm sparkle Smile
Can't make appointment until tomorrow morning -pesky. Am off to meditate I think.

OP posts:
amberlight · 14/06/2011 19:37

He's got 4 more exams to go during June. They're seeing if he can get extra marks for the family circumstances, which is nice of the school.
No appointment, MAS? Drat.
Does the food have to be healthy??

smee · 14/06/2011 20:04

I can hear some crisps calling me from the kitchen, amber. Grin That's a good idea about extra marks. Hope the exam board say yes. Is he off to University in the Autumn? Must feel strange if he's leaving home.

MAS, meditation sounds good, then maybe a treat for your aching hips. Smile

topsyturner · 14/06/2011 21:23

Tesco finest chocolate and almond tart .
That's what I am passing round this evening .
Sparkle - you get an extra big slice for your fb paranoia !
Sometimes fb just gets all arsey and plays up for no apparent reason .

Hope all the exams for the juniors go smoothly . Must be nearly over soon !

Off to meet my surgeon at 9am tomorrow .
Wish me luck ! (Mainly that I don't get kept waiting for another 3 1/2 hours like last time !)

MaryAnnSingleton · 14/06/2011 21:46

good luck topsy !

KurriKurri · 14/06/2011 23:07

Good luck Topsy Smile xx

smee · 14/06/2011 23:26

9am's good, Topsy - at least it's over with. Hope you get some sleep tonight. Will have everything crossed for you at nine x

SparkleRainbow · 15/06/2011 07:34

Good luck for today topsy! Smile xx

amberlight · 15/06/2011 07:37

Topsy, will be keeping everything crossed for you.

DS won't be doing Uni this year - he's taking a year out to regroup. It's been tough on him the last couple of years with dh having a brain haemorrhage and nearly copping it (thankfully recovered to almost 100% due to the wonders of the John Radcliffe specialists in Oxford), then DS found he was losing his sight in his left eye so he's had to be operated on, and now me with the breast cancer. Plus battling his own range of disabilities. He needs a bit of time to just 'be', do a bit of part time work, think about what he wants to do with his future, and tour Europe with 5 young lady friends Hmm Shock [rolling-of-eyes-emoticon]

Brew available, with more of the choc ginger thins.

cakesandale · 15/06/2011 09:22

Amber - Shock at all you have had to put up with healthwise! I doff my cap to you, girl. Quite impressed with ds managing to land the European tour from heaven, as well Wink

Good luck topsy, I hope you are in the appt now and not sitting in the waiting room, desperate to pee but not wanting to go in case you miss your slot.

MAS - hope you get an appointment to day. Your hips and smee's feet both sound like me, sometimes I can hardly straighten up and walk. But smee's doc said the same as mine - God knows why MAS's bcn is denying the likelihood of tamoxifen as a cause. Hope you get some reassurance soon.

Sparkles - you are having it tough, I know. When does ds go to the new school? Sorry if I missed it, I am in and out a lot and a lotof posts happen while I am off, and then I miss bits when I try to catch up. But i hope he is going there soon (ie before September).

KurriKurri · 15/06/2011 09:30

More good vibes for Topsy Smile

Gosh Amber you really have been through the mill Sad How scary for you all when your DH was ill, and of course your illness too. Your DS has had a lot on his plate, - I think a travelling break is a great idea for youngsters, gives them time to sort out what they want to do.

I'm sorry to hear about his sight problems, that must be hard to cope with, was it something that the surgery resolved?

How are you today? - I see you are up bright and early Smile any effects kicked in yet?

MAS I hope you managed to get an appointment at the docs. I think a virus sounds quite a likely possibility.

I was supposed to go to a yoga class this morning, but without the car, and the buses being so infrequent round here, I realised I would be out for nearly six hours for a one hour class. - Not really worth it!

KurriKurri · 15/06/2011 09:34

Oops x-posted - hello Cakes Smile

just adding my voice to those saying they had achy legs, I had a really bad patch a few months ago - but it seems to have settled a bit now, I'm sure it is the tamox.

Sparkle - bigs to you, do come on here and vent if it helps - you are having a rough time atm. xx

KurriKurri · 15/06/2011 09:37

Oh and Cakes there is now a picture of Mortimer the raven on the OP's profile Smile - he's gorgeous.

amberlight · 15/06/2011 09:39

Hi KK,
Without boring everyone to tears with our family palavers, it was quite an eventful time, since our landlords went bankrupt at the same point as DH was in hospital and I had to move the business to new premises and take all the decisions for that whilst spending half my life on the road between hospitals in thick snow and blizzards. Shock But we got through it, which is the important thing.
DS's sight was a real urk, yup, as he's a national rugby player and it helps to tackle the opposing team, not his team mates and not the ref or the bystanders Grin. And seeing his school work was handy too. The op stabilised his sight but can't fully correct it as there's not really good treatments for keratoconus until he's a bit older and we see how it develops. Whilst he was waiting to go into surgery at the hospital, I then had a call to say DH had been taken into hospital with gallstones. It's the sort of year where you just have to laugh, really. Or head for the nearest mental hospital and book yourself in Grin

I feel fine so far - bit tired but no aches or pains or nausea. The aches happen Friday I think, and the pains Sunday to Tuesday. But I still prefer Tax to FEC so far.

Got the Brew on again for those in need.
