Hello all Smile

poor Pink - I'm gad you've got something from the docs. to help, - I hope they start working soon - the aches are awful, definitely take it as easy as you can.

Amber I'm full of admiration for anyone who keeps working through chemo, but its not surprising you feel tired out. I hope you can get as much rest as you can too. How many left now for you?

SR - you must be relieved that PG has gone, although of course you want him to go on somewhere nice, but you can't play host for ever. Well done on getting back on track with the dieting.

MAS - what great presents for DS, - I bet he was chuffed Smile - Has little Cakes dropped any hints about what she'd like for her upcoming b'day?
Its my Mum's birthday on 28th, - she has told me she wants 'a hairclip, my hair keeps getting in my eyes' - bless her, - I think I might find something nice to go with the hairclip Smile

Egg and spoon - good suggestion, - look out at the olympics Smee to see if you recognize your eggs. Grin at pole vaulting onto your bed .

OK I made a total, total idiot of myself this morning Blush I went to a yoga class at the Cancer support centre. DH dropped me off and as I was walking up the road to the centre, I realised I'd forgotten to put my bra on [why? why?] So I flapped about for a bit, mono-breast swaying in the breeze; nothing I could do about it, - no nearby emergency mastectomy bra shops. So I zipped up my top firmly and went into the centre.

'Hello' says woman on reception 'you must be Kurri, you've come for the yoga'

'Yes' I replied, then for some reason I shrieked 'I've forgotten to put my bra on'

Why did I do that, what is wrong with me? Blush Blush

She looked at me and said 'Okaaaaaay. Would you like a cup of tea'

So now I presumably have 'mad' written beside my name in their books. Grin

hey ho.

cakesandale · 09/06/2011 13:31

I am definitely going to give the book to dd later today. I predict a bout of avid reading for her and a quiet evening for lucky me Wink

If the glue is missing i think we may have it cracked. Egg and spoon it is. A boy with cerebral palsy at dd's school entered the sports day last year and tanked to the end impressively, then waved loftily to the crowd and turned his spoon over. Egg resolutely stuck down. That kid (and his teacher) will go far.

technically egg and spoon isn't an olympic sport, I suppose, but it certainly should be. Much more fun than some of those yawntastic running events.

cakesandale · 09/06/2011 13:38

Ha ha KK! We cross posted but that is so funny Grin. Sorry. I bet no-one noticed except you.

Cupcake hasn't suggested anything she wants for her b'day, but she is getting an iPod Nano. I know, I know, it's a bit sophisticated for a little kid but we have a big family and we thought they could all chip in - otherwise we have to come up with loads of ideas for them which really are just more plastic tat, and a waste of their money. I think she will like that. But that's the only idea I have had, so DH and I are mighty stumped about what we can get.

Mums have such modest birthday wants, don't they? I bet you come up with something fab to go with it.

cakesandale · 09/06/2011 13:39

To go with the hairclip I mean. Sorry, that was a confusing last comment, wasn't it Confused

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/06/2011 13:51

KK -that made me laugh !!
I think iPod nano would be a fab idea - lucky girl ! I keep asking dh what an iPhone might cost - for some reason am obsessing about them - my bday isn't until Sept. but I couldn't ask for it if it's really, really expensive. Bless your mum asking for a hair clip KK- mums do that don't they- my mum used to want peace and quiet.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 09/06/2011 14:01

God, I'd like peace and quiet!

I am a bit keen on iphones too. DH has one and i imagine the technology would baffle me, but I think it might be good for work. I think I saw one for under £300 in Tesco, which still strikes me as steep.

Mind you, he's got a new iPad as well. That man just loves technology! Grin There's an app that lets you point it at the sky and it can tell you what stars and stuff you are seeing. Geeky or fascinating, depending on your point of view (I'm quietly hooked).

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/06/2011 14:09

I'd love the star thing !!

OP posts:
cakesandale · 09/06/2011 14:22

Thank God I'm not the only one! Wink

amberlight · 09/06/2011 14:34

KK, love the story of the bra Grin!!
Three more Tax to go before surgery and herceptin. Next tax is next week(Tues) so should have another week to go before the next round of feeling rough. Then I've only got to get to the end of July before chemo over with really - not that long....

Been out for decent nosh-up with a friend. That helped.

cakesandale · 09/06/2011 14:37

Treats always help Smile

Should be available on the NHS really.

smee · 09/06/2011 14:46

Arf at Kurri. Grin

Amber, that's definitely the way to look at it - dread the next, but see it as another one closer to the end. You're right, it's not far off now. Smile

KurriKurri · 09/06/2011 15:55

You're on the home stretch Amber and a nosh up sounds just the thing to cheer you up. Smile (You won't feel bad on herceptin - its fine)

I'm glad my embarrassing behaviour made you laugh Grin - I've just been on the phone to DS, I told him about it and he said ' You are really losing it mum' Grin

The ipod nano sound a great present. I don't know much about these things (DD has one of the basic kind of ipods) does the nano have games on it?

amberlight · 10/06/2011 09:32

www.apple.com/uk/ipodnano/features.html is the list of features on it I think. Can't see games.

Morning all. How are we? I'm feeling a lot more cheerful than yesterday thanks to more sleep.

cakesandale · 10/06/2011 11:02

It never occurred to me to think about games!!!! Blush Thanks amber for the link, I shall take a look....

smee · 10/06/2011 18:31

Hooray for sleep, Amber. Smile + for a great present for DD, Cakes. Actually I'd quite like one of those.

V.quiet on here today. I have been busy scooting around on my bike in the rain - have changed my clothes due to extreme sogginess twice. Lovely and sunny here now, but we're in for the night. G'ah!

Hope everyone's okay out there. Wishing you all a lovely weekend. I'm off to scoop DS into bed, then Wine. Much more special now I don't drink mid week, but I do so miss it..

smee · 10/06/2011 18:35

Forgot to say - one egg returned with a smiley face drawn on - so cheeky! He still reckons it was the cat.

  • Yr2 Olympics yesterday was Javelin, so that was apparently great. I wasn't far out though, as apparently, Yr4 did Synchonised Swimming - I was treated to a re-enactment. The teachers most definitely have a sense of humour. Grin
MaryAnnSingleton · 10/06/2011 19:53

javelin sounds fun ! I am imagining the cat drawing on the egg Grin
Have been out and about today - and have taken ds for hair cut and to choose a father's day card. Think it's Wine time soon - meditation first.
Hope every one is ok - resting, feeling better etc
My hips hurt -should I ask my bcn -I don't want to appear neurotic.
Have been invited to a tea party in London for Macmillan/Marie Curie which will be nice, and also a book launch which I'd love to go to,but awkward being on a Tuesday evening(from the point of view of getting there and back ) The author is someone I know on fb but have met her in RL and she's fab-we discovered today we were born a few weeks apart !

OP posts:
smee · 10/06/2011 20:16

Maybe I'm underestimating our cat, MAS. Grin

Your hips hurting, sounds annoying. Have they been for a while? Am guessing it's probably Tamoxifen causing it? Little Miss Paranoia seems to be here today too. Feel bloated and was a teeny bit breathless earlier. DS has had a horrible cold, and I'm a bit snotty, but obviously have dismissed that in favour of lung secondaries. Hmm Am sure wine will help send Miss P away, MAS. Join me in a glass. Smile

topsyturner · 10/06/2011 22:18

Miss Paranoia has been clumping around my living room ion her size 9s too !
Got a phone call from the hospital earlier this evening . My surgeon has decided to bring my appointment this Thursday forward by 24 hours , as apparently she will be getting my pathology results 24 hours earlier than she thought .

Ofcourse I have decided it's really been brought forward because they have found something even nastier than aggressive breast cancer !!!
Because we all know that starting treatment 24 hours earlier will make all the difference ..........

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/06/2011 23:31

am sure they just have a vacant spot and got on with your results topsy- don't fret- and smee am sure you are suffering from cold -but Wine sounds good to me ! Am pretty certain tamox. might be to blame for this pain- it's been going on for weeks but hips particularly noticeable- I am not really bothered by aches and pains generally.

OP posts:
smee · 11/06/2011 17:55

Topsy, she's probably just trying to be kind. Knowing you'll be on pins she wants to see you asap. Bloody Paranoia, though Wine most definitely helps. Smile

smee · 11/06/2011 17:57

MAS, I'd bet aches are Tamoxifen. Maybe ask for reassurance, but when I anxted over my feet aching they barely blinked. Certainly the Onc wasn't at all concerned. She said aches are v. common.

amberlight · 12/06/2011 08:30

Topsy, in my long experience with surgeons and doctors, it will turn out to be because said individuals wanted a long weekend away and is moving everyone forwards a day so they can go sit on a beach/play golf/whatever it is consultants do.

I'm having an UnBrave day, which tends to happen just before the next chemical experiment (tues). Might hide under a duvet for a bit before going to church and putting a Brave Face On Things. Arrgh.

Morning all.

I think that this post composition is backwards but can't be sure Hmm Blush

MaryAnnSingleton · 12/06/2011 09:05

you are prob. right smee- am sure bcn will say so -
amber- chin up and try to calm yourself with a relaxing day if poss..Wine later ?
Went to dinner last night at new bistro in town -our town is smallish and has very few places to eat at night and this looks as though it's going to be a huge boon ! It was lovely and very nicely done up -good service,a complementary glass of fizz and yum food.
Dad has gout (he has had it under control for ages but has neglected his preventative medicine ) very painful poor man

OP posts:
topsyturner · 12/06/2011 10:27

Amber everyone is entitled to UnBrave days . Will be thinking of you on Tuesday and sending you mountains of positive thoughts .
Also think you could be right re the long weekend thing , surgeon is a competition rower (damn you google) in her spare time . So she is probably going up a river some where ......

MAS - I have been reccomending your "I am 8" book to all my friends . my youngest is 8 , and most of my friends are parents of 8 year olds . So if revenue is up this month , you know who to thank Wink

Went out shopping yesterday to try and find some tops to wear that don't show these attractive 1950s bras that I have to wear .
Everything is too scoop necked .
I bought 4 tops , and I have to wear vests underneath all of them .

Off to Grannys (I am one of the few lucky people who have a great mother in law) shortly .
We go most Sundays for lunch .

Hope you all have a great Sunday .
