I've just started the steroids and feel slightly less breathless (and mainly, hugely relieved) though slightly nervous about possible side-effects. We're just about to move house so I'm hoping I feel a lot better very quickly! Have you seen the doc about your bloating? Worth getting checked out just so you don't worry? (I have turned into a complete hypochrondiac since getting this) Grin

Me too! I've gone from never being ill to having one thing after another.
Did you have a biopsy to confirm the sarcoidosis? I haven't had one but lots of X-rays and ct.
Don't envy you moving house we moved
In March and decided to do it all ourselves! Never again!'lol
Have you any other problems apart from
Lungs?

Yup, had a biopsy which is how they confirmed I have sarcoidosis. I was sedated so didn't feel a thing but my chest was very sore afterwards and I was coughing like I was a 60-a-day smoker! Had CT and chest x-ray too, and a blood test which indicated my levels of something or other were high which pointed towards sarcoidosis too. I'm normally fit & healthy, though had what we thought was arthritis a few years ago - flared up suddenly in my fingers but then went away. Initially the docs thought that and the lungs were due to an auto-immune thingy but seemingly not.

Only my lungs are affected - how about you? I've read that this can affect any part of the body. I'd never heard of it until this week!

Are you on steroids too?

Not on steroids yet, had a couple of courses on recent allergic reactions. But none for sarcoidosis. I haven't had a biopsy, the consultant said probably sarcoidosis. Have to go back in three months for repeat ct and lung function.
To be honest I'd rather of had a biopsy, I'm worried in case he's got it wrong.
Think I'm becoming a hypochondriac too.
Would just love to feel well again and get a definate diagnosis.
I've also had very frequent periods and pain, had a uterus ultrasound which just showed probable fibroids. X

I think the problem is, you read so much about horrible lung diseases it's easy to get scared stiff. I know I did. Like you, I was just desperate to get a diagnosis. The consultant said the CT scan was pretty conclusive but the biposy confirmed it. The steroids are making me feel a lot better. Can you ask to try some steroids? How are they treating the sarcoidosis? How long have you been feeling unwell? My symptoms started last November.

More frequent periods and pain can't be nice, esp on top of everything else! Can they do anything about the fibroids? How are you managing? It's all very wearing isn't it? And demoralising.SadI've hated the last few months of feeling like a 90 year old. Hang on in there!

Ah thanks mummy, ave been referred for ultrasound and gyne now.
Started feeling rundown and breathless from
jan, just put it down to having toddler twins.
It wasn't till I had an allergic reaction to a fish dish, and ended up in resus they discovered the shadowing.
Was kept in and referred to lung consultant.
Have been feeling run down since. The 2 lots of steroids I had after the allergic reaction made me feel so much better, but seem to make bloating even worse.
The consultant I've seen hasn't given steroids I think because my lung function test came back ok.

Can I ask have you had your heart tested? The leaflet he gave me said something about it, but nothing been arranged.

Oh my god, you have been through the mill! Resus??

My lung function was pretty poor, though they only did that very recently. I've seen a cardiologust too mainly because initially they thought all of the breathlessness was due to a dodgy heart. My left ventricular chamber isn't pumping as it should be apparently, thugh they don't think this is the major 'problem' (ie: because the major prob is my lungs) but I'm having an MRI next week just to get more detail. The chest consultant said I 'might as well have the MRI' (as it'd already been booked) but didn't think it was an issue though like you, I've read about Sarcoidosis and heart probs too.

Glad you've been referred for US and gynae, good to get everything checked out. If my DH hadn't nagged me to keep going back to the doctor about my cough & breathlessness I'd never have gone. A bit like you, I just kept thinking I was stressed about the move and knackered from working & having two kids!

Do you have an inhaler then? Is it working? xxx

Hi mummy sorry I havent been back to this thread for ages, life just takes over.
How did your MRI go?
Having lots of new symtoms in the past couple of months, sore eyes, rib cage pain, and very aching numb hands, due to go back to see chest guy next month,
The Gp offered to refer me to a sarcoidosis specialist in London, but just keep hoping I'll feel better soon.
Hope your feeling better? Has your breathing improved?
I
