Hi there,
thanks for sympathy, Little Waltham and Footle. Have to admit to feeling pretty sorry for myself as life has been so limited this last 6 weeks even though all I have had is a TVT which is nothing like as tough as what a lot of you have all had. Had a bad day Friday with constantly being in the loo but a bit better yesterday and today. I think that is what I am finding so hard, I have a somewhat better day managing longer gaps between bathroom visits and I think "Right, I'm on the way now" and then go straight back the next day just as I thought I had got my Positive Head on!
Have my 6 week check up on Wednesday with uro/gynaecologist but my symptoms are so erratic that it is difficult to explain. Have typed up a sheet of paper to just hand over to him so that I don't witter :)
Hope everyone else is coping ok.

I had itching which turned out to be an infection and had problems pre-op with thrush etc so best to get it checked out.
I had the pinky blood which was on and off, alternating between that n full on bleeding, Ive now had a period, think Im back to the old 35 day cycle after comin off the dreaded Norethisterone, (dreaded for me anyway.) Its not been too bad but as Ive said before I could be pre-menopausal and they suddenly got horrendously heavy so I'll see what the next ones like.
Me too, dont envy anyone having to look after young children, I DO remember those days, LOVE now bein able to watch telly with no interruption, go out on the spur of the moment n if Im tired from the op or otherwise I can just sleep.
Im back in sunny Notts 2nite after spending 5 days in Mancs.
Just been in the centre shopping.
Im bein rushed, we have to leave in half an hour...!
Anyway, to finish off I believe I have a follow up letter and i have an ultrasound on the 30th August which seems quite late as the pains have been bad.
Ive lost just one stitch so far, the one nearest the entrance, (and only cos i tugged it n it broke, they seem to be stuck fast! Shock
Take care all x

Hi Footie I am so much better in the head first time I have used MN simply because there is so little info out there. itching eased off. Good tip on just knickers tks. Not surprised you panic if we stop and think of the trauma involved.

Jannie tks for taking the time to find me. A month is good but still early days what are you doing tugging? Step away from the tugging!!!! recovery is not "its a month tug at what you like" be kind to yourself surgeon told me 10 months then stitches disolve or if they are messing with the sex life can be taken out at 10 weeks.

littlewaltham · 31/07/2011 21:36

Everglades

I am sending a post just for you. Witter, procrastinate and get well informed. It is your limited time with an expert. Don't judge what you have experienced with anyone else there is always someone better or worse off. Good luck pop the experts advice on the MN slab and I am sure we can all have a good ald discect for you x

EMMDEE73 · 31/07/2011 23:30

Just an add on to the 'just wear knickers'. When the bleeding/discharge stops, don't wear any knickers!! I found I started to heal a lot quicker once I 'went commando' around the house, and being summer could wear skirts. (I did put them on when I left the house though!)

Hi Ladies im back, Thank you for all the replies, Well I ad my rectocele repair trananally last wednesday 27th. All went well I come home on the Thursday with paracetomal, diclofenic, fibrogel and lactolose. I have been great doing all the housework taken dog out for a walk, normal activitys, The only problem I seem to have is the feeling of needing a BM all the time or a feeling of something stuck up there (tmi sorry). I get awful bellyache as well. I woke up from the op with a pack up there to stem bleeding, that is the fullness Im feeling now. Ive been going to the toilet everyday so its not like i could be constipated. I dont no if that is how im meant to feel. My stitches are all internal. Ive got my follow up appointment for 2 weeks time. Could anybody tell me if this is normal what im feeling.

shazza40 · 01/08/2011 08:53

Hi footle, I am in the UK, I went to see a Colecteral Consultant who said it is better doing it transanally than vaginally because vaginally it shortens the vagina making intercourse painful or even impossible in some people and as im only 40yrs old he said trananally is better they use no mesh or cutting of the perenium, recover times are shorter as well, Ive been told to wait 4 weeks before having intercourse, I do need to rest but can do light Jobs round the house. I was expecting to feel worse than I do but I also think maybe its been too easy and Im going to suffer a knock back lol.

littlewaltham · 01/08/2011 09:31

Tks EMMDEE bleeding nearly gone I should be knickerless by the weekend :)

Shazza I am 19 days post rectocele repair vaginally my consultant did discuss the shortening of the vagina with me and said he would take great care not to shorten it after a converation about the current fit of my DH Blush the results remain to be seen.

The constant fullness feeling stopped for me after 2 weeks I now only get the fullness feeling when I am full! You will still be very swollen internally even though you feel fine in yourself. When this settles the fullness should abate.

I got awful bellyache too for the first 2 weeks. Much better now still some aching especially if there is trapped wind.

Good point Footie my healing may be very different to Shazza as I am front not back :)

Jannie49 · 01/08/2011 19:43

No, stitch didnt hurt, it was fine. 10 months? Everyone here says they start to come away about 4-5 weeks in. Whats correct?

Jannie49 · 01/08/2011 19:48

I was just wondering for that reason why they seemed so 'stuck.'

Jannie49 · 01/08/2011 19:52

Couldnt go commando lol. Besides Its still too early to say if stress incontinence is miraculously cured! Shock

littlewaltham · 01/08/2011 20:16

I was told takes upto 10 months for stitches to disolve on thier own. If they come away at 5 weeks all the better. I will clarify this with consultant when I next meet him in 3 weeks time. Maybe I have my months and weeks mixed?

EMMDEE73 · 01/08/2011 21:35

I have had several stitches come out in the last week (am 6 weeks today) and one was over an inch long! Also had a knot come out. I was told 6-10 weeks for internal stitches. Will ask tomorrow as have my 6 week check.

shazza40 · 02/08/2011 07:43

Emmdee: Thank you for reply, I feel a bit daft didnt realise it could be the inflammation and swelling why I feel the way I do.

Footle: Your right it is making me jealous lol, I said to my OH isnt it funny when someone tells you you cant do it you want it even more.

Consultant said I can have sex with stitches in but DH will feel them. Be v interested to know what EMMDEE has found out at 6 week check.

EMMDEE73 · 02/08/2011 14:58

Well, I had my 6 week check and have been officailly discharged! Yay!
I asked about future prognosis (ie will it stay mended) and she said 10-20% of women do return in 10-20 years. So fairly good odds there. She did say that if you have this condition as a fairly young age (I'm 37) then it could reoccur (something to do with collegen) but to avoid this she said to not to over do things like lifting, and said if constipated always use laxatives sonner rather than later to avoid straining.

She asked if I have tried having sex, but I said it is still a bit tender at entrance which she said was still to be expected at this stage.

Best thing was that I got to hospital about 10 mins early, and was out by the time of my actual appt. Sometimes the NHS do come up trumps!

hi there, not had chance to read this thread yet but hoping some people may be able to offer support/advice. I had my DD over a year ago, and tore quite badly at the time, although it was only classed as 2nd degree tears, it took hours to stitch up and resulted in me having a major PPH. We've only tried to have sex once and it was really sore - it felt like there was not enough room, if that's not far TMI. (Sorry!). Tampax are also a bit uncomfortable and I feel like they work themselves out too, again as if there is no room.

I've been treated for another underlying health condition since having my baby and am just recovering from that, so have only been to my GP today about it. He has referred me to the hospital, but I'm wondering what the likely outcome is, does anyone know? I am guessing it is scar tissue but that is a guess, it feels like a big long bump internally, but I've not had a close look (!). I'm terrified about going to the hospital, it was so traumatic being stitched up, but I will have to do it somehow, particularly if we are ever to have a sex life ever again.
