Poor Peter, he really has been through it, so have you.

edam · 24/10/2005 16:05

Oh Misdee, I am very sorry. Is this connected to the blood clot and loss of sight? How is he today?

misdee · 24/10/2005 16:07

its connected to the blood clot and loss of sight. it just sounds a lot worse nopw they are saying stroke. is it? isnt it?

Am thinking of you all.

aloha · 24/10/2005 16:07

thinking of you, but lost for words.

nailpolish · 24/10/2005 16:08

i know that sometimes sight can come back

it is just sight in one eye?

misdee · 24/10/2005 16:10

in his left eye. if the nerves have been damaged by the pressure where the clot was it could take a few months to come back if at all. if they havent been too badly damagedthen he could regain sight quicker. does anyone know anything about sight and strokes?

Oh misdee whatever next! You and Peter must be so tired of it all. I believe strokes can range from very serious to very mild. One can only hope it is at the mild end of the scale, since it's taken them two days to decide that's what it was. Oh I do hope things start to get better again. I really don't know how you hold it all together. You're a marvel, really. Would love to buy you a glass of wine one day but I don't think you drink, do you?

Dh's unlce had a stroke, his vision wasn't affected at all but his movement was. He can't move his left arm and has trouble walking. He has to rely heavily on a wheel chair.

I am so sorry Misdee, nothing constructive to say, but thinking of you all

misdee · 24/10/2005 16:15

very annoyed by it asll. his VAD is still playing up, he unplug it earlier to go for a wash and all the alarms on it went off. he just said 'the thing feels the same about me as i do about it'. totally fed up with it all.

I found a link that tells you about different types of strokes, would you like to see it Misdee?

desperatehousewife · 24/10/2005 16:17

my 28 year old friend had a stroke due to a blood clot in brain - not sure about her sight, but her entire left side was badly affected. With a short amount of time and physio she was totally back to 'normal' and everything works like a dream now. How shocking for you though. Hope things improve soon.

CreepyJess · 24/10/2005 16:17

Misdee, can this type of problem be a side effect of heart problems as serious as Peter's? (Or is it something seperate?)

Thinking of you.. sending ((hugs)) and ~~good vibes~~ and lots of love xxxx

misdee · 24/10/2005 16:19

its because of his poor heart function. he is susceptable to clots as he isnt as mobile as he once was, he had a massive one in his leg in july which wss removed in an emergency op.

Hi Misdee, sorry to hear about your DH. A close friend had a stroke a couple of years ago and, in time, made a complete recovery. For further info on strokes have a look at the charity site stroke.org.uk HTH x
