just in case we run out of space !

OP posts:

Kurri you are totally right I just need to focus on Saturday and hopefully by Saturday afternoon we'll be out celebrating that its just a blocked duct.

I've realised that partly why I'm so upset is that it has brought up old feelings about mums illness and death that I've ignored for ages.

My DDs are 2.1yrs and 9mths and they are just too cute (of course, I would say that wouldn't I?!) Wink

They have just both woken up actually so best go and get them up and think of an activity for the afternoon...

smee · 17/03/2011 15:14

Am back from the bizarreness of mammograms. So high tech, yet oh-so-not. The way they squish you on that perspex thing is very far from dignified. Not a Tunnocks to be found though, so am heading off now to enlist DS in my quest. Smile

Sally, well done on the weight loss, and like Cakes I am totally in awe of you getting two small girls to sleep in the daytime. Have a lovely afternoon with them. Cakes, am seriously beginning to think your DD and my DS must be related. Grin

Kurri, that chair's intriguing and not a little bit terrifying too. Nice to have eccentric relatives, but possibly for the best that that one's long since gone. Smile

Sparkles, cockerels in the countryside are great, so you're allowed - I love them when we're away. But one in a small terraced garden and right under my bedroom window is not-so-good. It was our rather chaotic neighbours. When I tapped on the door, they said it's 'just visiting'. Who on earth has a cockerel over for a visit?! Grin

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 15:27

I'm glad the mammogram is out of the way Smee - its not the most dignified experience in the world - but needs must Smile

Grin at visiting cockerel, what was the purpose of his visit? (or shouldn't I ask??). I am imagining his little cockerel overnight bag containing silk pyjamas, a comb for his comb, and a packet of cigarettes Grin

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 15:30

Just realised that I'm assuming your neighbours have lady chickens, if they don't then my post just looks like the ramblings of a perv Blush

reallywoundup · 17/03/2011 16:54

Hi all, i am going to unashamedly admit that i have no idea what you are all up to, if i had the time to have a cup of coffee i'd try to have a catch up, but it feels as if i haven't stopped.

Started the new job this week and it's all been going a bit Blush i've embarassed my self at least once a day so far!

bobblyears · 17/03/2011 17:02

I'm very much a new-girl here, so Hello to everyone, but it does seem theres been a lot of hurting going on one way or another for which I really feel for all concerned having been through the mill a bit - bounced back now to my usual hair-brained self. My reason among others for joining mumsnet lovely chat-room is because of something I saw on another chat Forum I think it was the Mail. I've just gone through my 2.5 session with cancer - Cervical, found just in time. Kidney, removed due to Tumour, Breast, had Mastectomy, waiting now for re-construction, my old darling says hospitals have more of me than he has, anyway I perked up when I found this bit about physicaromatherapy, (I think) that had all kinds of helpful blends of essen.oils which are organic, and some are for after cancer (I had a jolly good look) and there's one for PMT which sounds as though it smells fantastic and one following breast cancer One lady posted that she'd sent for two of them I can't remember the first but the other was PMT she said her husband told her to order a bucket load! SHE said she'll keep the forum posted about her results, so when I see them there, I'll post about it here if any one's interested, when I looked at it I saw 'nausea' and thought that my sister could have used that a few years ago, poor little love had all day sickness wih her pregnancy (don't we women go through it!)- she's over that stage of her life now, and before anyone says 'you never know' she'd say two are quite enough - thankyou. Hugs to all

Cakesandale · 17/03/2011 17:15

Way to go RWU! Hope it goes swimmingly when the embarrassment wears off!

Well done smee on getting through the mammo: the visiting cockerel sounds fun - does he really look a bit Noel Coward, like the image KK has now given me? Is he there for ahem - business purposes, or are his owners on holiday.

Sally - Saturday will soon come around and you will then have a much better handle on what you are looking at.

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2011 17:16

Grin at pervy cockerel and his silk pyjamas Grin you made me nearly snort tea out of my nose!!!!

Radical moves for ds slightly on hold as I have had a holding letter from Councillor responsible for children and schools.

Radical moves for dd1 on track, seeing Head tomorrow, although he doesn't know it yet, dd1 will not be returning he doesn't know that yet either, going to see new school again at 11.00am tomorrow. She will not be happy in the short term, but in two weeks time I look forward to her night terrors, and loss of learning being a thing of the past. Plus LA will not be able to use dd to muddy the waters around ds. Oh wish it was international intrigue and espionage (sp? how do you spell that anyway) Blush

Smee I am glad I am not the only one who thinks that perspex block thing looks a bit of a bodge job.

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2011 17:19

Sorry RWU I missed your post. I am sure you have not made any embarrssing moments. Well done on your first week!!! Smile

Sally, don't sit at home alone and stress, post on here, I can fill your time with inane drivel while everyone else can offer useful help. I am sending big hugs.

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2011 17:25

How many n's are there in innane/inane.....I so need to get out of the house and use langauge again, this is getting desperate.

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 17:46

Well done RWU - I'm sure you didn't do anything embarrassing, - you must be worn out though Smile

Sparkle - It's good things are getting sorted for DD1, and that the new school is lovely - I'm sure she'll settle in fine once she's there Smile

reallywoundup · 17/03/2011 19:00

thanks all, once i've had some Wine i may try to sit down and catch up!

And yes i really did embarass myself... staff meeting- fell up the stairs, singing along to musicals in the car- wasn't soundproof and everyone heard my atrocious singing, went to be shown round satelite office- got followed into the car park by a police car and very nearly arrested Blush as you can see it hasn't exactly gone to plan, but hopefully they have a sense of humour about it lol!

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2011 19:17

Why nearly arrested, did you look very suspicious?

Falling up th stairs is supposed to be good luck, not sure why! Confused

Singing along to musicals is an important part of being a well rounded human being, and be caught singing along is just character building Grin

Have I convinced you yet that all is well. No? Have a large glass then, and I will join you Wine

LimeJellyforBrains · 17/03/2011 19:42

Sparkle - radical action indeed! Hope it all goes well tomorrow, and that DD is soon settled in and happy at her new school Smile Is it far from you? Will DS be able to go there too?

RWU - yikes that is quite an impressive list - I bet they can't wait to see what you'll get up to next week! Only joking - falling up the stairs was probably barely noticed. Personally I love hearing people singing out loud and you have just made me realise how little I hear it nowadays. When growing up, all the mums used to sing while doing washing up, washing etc. You could hear them through the kitchen doors, it wafted across the gardens. My sisters and I always sang together, rounds sometimes, while doing the washing/drying up. Was it just us? I hardly ever think to sing now, just in the shower sometimes Sad. I'm going to sing more. You have done a good thing, thanks for that! Smile My family may not agree mind Wink

As to the nearly being arrested Shock, now that's something! Will have to reserve judgment on that one! Grin

LimeJellyforBrains · 17/03/2011 19:48

Didn't tradesmen used to sing and whistle more while they worked, or is it just me slipping into old codger-type reminiscing? RWU look what you have started, am now obsessed with 'the decline of everyday singing'!

Have not had any alcohol since my chemo last Thursday. Am feeling better today Smile so think it may be time to remedy that. Cheers Sparkle and RWU Smile Wine

smee · 17/03/2011 20:08

Waves to RWU. Smile Well done on not getting arrested. Though I wouldn't put anything past you.

Sparkle Wine + Wine for your DD's school change and for seeing the head tomorrow. Sounds only positive, and am sure DD will be okay. Smile

Am still pondering why the cockerel might be on a visit. Next door haven't got any chickens, so there's no logic to it. Haven't spotted a cravat on either yet Kurri, but they certainly strut with an aristocratic air, so am sure you're spot on with the silk PJ's. I will report back, as the plot thickens. Which knowing our neighbours, it undoubtedly will..

Red Nose Dressing up tomorrow. DS came out of school still determinedly Pirate so we got that all ready, but he's just yelled down from his bed to say he's thinking along the lines of a zebra or (pause for drum roll of motherly despair) a Satyr. Heck..

smee · 17/03/2011 20:10

LJ, cross posted. You definitely deserve Wine. Enjoy. Smile

LimeJellyforBrains · 17/03/2011 20:51

Phew thanks for the reminder re Red Nose Day Smee! Almost Blush that all I had to do was run upstairs and pull anything blue out of the drawers! There is no way I could have pulled any fancy dress costumes together this week! Snort at Satyr!! Grin

reallywoundup · 17/03/2011 21:14

the getting arrested thing wasn't as impressive as it sounds.... i have a new company car (don't get excited it's a blardy suzuki alto Blush) and i only collected it yesterday and thus the insurance isn't yet on the database, and i had the utter misfortune to bump into the only traffic car in mid wales to have an ANPR installed!
thankfully the ins docs were in the office- but he did treat me like scum to start with... opening gambit was "hello madam, you've got no insurance" i then proceeed to educate him to in future start with "sorry madam for the inconvenience, but my ANPR system which is sometimes wrong gives me reason to question whether you hold valid insurance on this vehicle" Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/03/2011 22:09

ha 1 I have had a preview of RWU's mishaps at work on facebook Grin tell them about your letters after your name though !
I love that junior smee might be a satyr !! zebra is pretty good too, but satyr is ace- that boy will go far !

Good luck with new school viewing sparkle and v glad you're feeling well enough for Wine LJ

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 17/03/2011 23:08

lol, thanks MAS!!!!! i have finally passed my accountancy exams and am now qualified and can put letters after my name Blush more importantly though i am now covered by indemnity insurance should i fuck up have any mishaps

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/03/2011 07:24

yay RWU Grin !!

smee - am very worried about the satyr costume

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 18/03/2011 09:19

Bloody hell! That satyr costume is even worse than I had feared when smee mentioned it. Arf! Grin

That -erm- weapon - will surely be inconvenient at circle time.

RWU, you crack me up, you really do! That is comedy genius, as first days at work go. Grin If I were in mid Wales I would buy you drinks all night on the strength of that, so here we go Wine Wine Wine

SparkleRainbow · 18/03/2011 09:56

I don't know where to put myself with the satyr costume....... I hope he settled for a pirate smee, or at the very least a zebra! Grin

RWU well done you, letters after your name! Hope the over zealous police officer was suitably embarrassed!!! cakes is right though, you could dine out for months on your talkes of the first week at work! Roll on the second week, it can only get better, surely? Grin Too earlier today for a Wine so have a Brew instead.

No red nose day for us, dc school aren't doing it....well dd's old school, yet another reason make it the old school for both of them! Parents are furious.

The new school for dd1 is not our catchment school, but is actually closer, only 2 miles away instead of 6.5. I would move ds there too in a heart beat if it wasn't for the fact that the place has got loads of stairs on different levels, and he will fall. Having said that, we may have to move him there anyway soon, as we are going nowhere fast with the disabled access ms school. I got an email late last night from another LA Councillor, saying he has told director of education to investigate and get back to me. Still not holding breath, or would go blue!!.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/03/2011 09:59

uh oh teatotal is back
