Lemon puffs are a bit like Parma Violets. I never got those either.

Orlando is most definitely fluffsome. Though I don't think the tinsel will last long with him around, SR. Our cat shreds it. Grin

Sally, that's good about the 4Ib and fwiw, I hink you're right not to worry your dad. Anyway, I still think you'll be okay. Smile

Some idiot near us has got a cockerel. I know I should like it the whole country to city thing but at 5.30am I most definitely do not. Woke us all up. G'ah. Am going to grump off to mammogram in a minute.

smee · 17/03/2011 10:34

LJ, why did you have to say Tunnocks?! I really want one now. Definitely a proper biscuit that. Smile

Shamrock to all. Are any of us in any way Irish? Confused

LimeJellyforBrains · 17/03/2011 10:46

DH is Irish. So the DSs are half-Irish. That makes Shamrock slightly justified here I suppose.

Good luck with the mammogram Smee, I am thinking of you xx Hope it's not too uncomfortable etc. Think you deffo deserve a Tunnocks after!

One of my nieces has just got two chickens. Presume she will have a cockerel too? In the middle of a housing estate. Madness. Although all the awful news from around the world recently makes me want to retreat to unpopulated higher ground and grow our own everything.

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 10:57

My very slight claim to a drop of Irish blood is this chap (scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says '2 John James Barralet') he is my great great great Grandfather. ( I think that is the right number of greats)

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 10:58

Oh good luck with your mammogram Smee, definitely treat yourself to a Tunnocks after Smile

Cakesandale · 17/03/2011 10:59

I know what you mean, LJ. Sad and [scary]

Good luck for the mammo, smee!

DH's family are about as bog Irish as they come. I never understood a single word his now departed father ever said, and some of his Mum's speech is a bit Confused as well. So Shamrock to everyone from me.

Well done on the weight loss sally, and i hope you are feeling OK today.

I think I may have lost a bit as well. The clothes feel a bit looser, so either i have burst the seams (entirely possible) or something is starting to make a difference. I'd like to say it was the lack of chocolate, but I have been substituting cake Blush

smee · 17/03/2011 11:03

Shamrock to LJ and Kurri then. Justly deserved. Smile Kurri, what a great ancestor. I love the panther mid air. Do you have a copy of it?

I don't think you do need a cockerel to keep chickens, LJ, but am not exactly an expert. Off to be squashed now. I will hunt down some Tunnocks on the way back.

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 11:08

I don't have any copies Smee (although I might look into getting some) my Aunt has two of his originals. And there are some in the Dublin National Gallery.

I read another article about him which said he was very grumpy and rude, and wore a coat that was so long it collected lumps of mud along the bottom which then got deposited in peoples houses.Grin

Cakesandale · 17/03/2011 11:18

I like the description 'small, cheerless, rude' - it reminded me of quite a few people I know - until I realised it meant the hut Grin

It's nice to have interesting forebears, KK - especially if you don't have to actually deal personally with the more - ahem - eccentric ones.

LimeJellyforBrains · 17/03/2011 11:28

Can't understand DH's birth mum either Cakes (he was adopted) - rural farming origins.

I am jealous of your eccentric Irish ancestor Kurri, and they are lovely engravings. But trailing mud through peoples' houses? Pah, nothing! Two boys here, remember Grin

I loved the mid-air panther too, and now have an inkling Smee is imagining mid-air hunted-down Tunnocks, too - I know I am Smile

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2011 11:44

OOo eccentric artistic irish ancestors....nope haven't got any of them. My SIL exdh is irish though....does that count?

Happy St. Patrick's day to all Shamrock

You don't have to have a cockerel to have chickens. They will produce eggs daily without a man around Grin Sorry smee that you have been woken up, we have a beautiful cockerel ourselves, who sings good morning at 4.50am every day. But then we do live in the middle of nowhere, a few houses around, but farm land, cows, sheep, horses, and a chicken farm over the hill, which have cockerels ours likes to compete with. Oh and wild pheasants. So is pretty noisy here every morning but at least it is what you expect, plus we have lots of trees and grass to absorb the sound.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/03/2011 11:47

love the panther Grin wow !
No Irishness here but I like Guinness Grin
Happy Shamrock to everyone anyway...
I can't have a Tunnocks wafer as it's Lent (sob)
Good luck with mammo smee Smile x

Have had no chocolate, but I have out on weight again....not fair Blush but entirely my own fault.

Good luck with the mammogram sending you waves of positive energy.

I have written an email to the chief exec and Councillors for LA today, as still no response to my letter to Head of child services. Planning radical moves tomorrow oop sorry ot carried away thought I was in charge of world domination campaign for juniors smee and sparkle

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2011 11:50

Bundle of cute ginger fluffiness SR, so lovely.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/03/2011 12:00

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 12:15

Good luck with the radical moves Sparkles - i think radical is definitely the way to go.

Grin at muddy boys LJ - I love muddy kids!

I've feeling my ggg grandfather was absolutely barking quite eccentric. I've just found this - an engraving from one of his paintings I think. Here it's supposedly a 'tranquillizing chair' - not as first appears a hideous execution scene.

Cakesandale · 17/03/2011 12:22

Now that wouldn't tranquilise me very effectively, more likely I'd be gibbering wreck inside 5 minutes.

I am rooting for you and your radical scheme, sparkles. If you need any help I have a subversive streak a mile wide, so i could be your man....

LimeJellyforBrains · 17/03/2011 12:24

Er, tranquilising? Are you sure? Shock Being rather claustrophobic, would not be very calming to me. I know - it's a pictogram of 'tunnel vision' Grin

See the commode bucket underneath! How many hours do you think this thing was used for? (or what immediate effect did the fear have?)

I am assuming he only drew this, not invented it? Yes, absolutely barking quite eccentric Kurri, as you say.

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 12:31

Yes - not sure how being tied to a commode with a large block of wood on your head would calm you down, but hey - you never know until you try it Grin

SparkleRainbow · 17/03/2011 12:35

Think I would need tranquilising after spending any time in it!!!

SallyScuttles · 17/03/2011 13:07

Sand I'm in Slimming World, I've lost 1st 9lbs so far, but I'm still 12st 6lbs so still quite a long way to go. I was a lovely size 10/12 prekids but 2 babies in under 1.5yrs put an end to that!!

Kurri That chair looks like something out of Bedlam Mental Hospital, not nice!

I'm feeling ok today, I've been out with the girls to a singsong session and a bit of shopping for bits and pieces in town and I managed to forget all about it. Now we're home, they are fed and watered and in bed and all my worst fears have surfaced again. I just want to know, the not knowing is killing me. Of course, I realise I might not know for ages yet. Its so silly, I'm all worked up about it and it might be absolutely nothing at all, its just that I don't know. Aarghhh!

Cakesandale · 17/03/2011 13:56

It's likely you'll have more of a handle on what the GP thinks it is, by Saturday, Sally, so not too long to wait.

On the plus side you are doing really, jaw-droppingly well with your weight loss. This Slimming World thing sounds great, I am sure it is what Sandripples is doing as well. I may have to invest. I think I need to lose about a stone, and I have gone at it completely arse about face, to use on of DH's less charming expressions. I have bought some nice clothes a size too small to tempt myself into action - God knows why, I already had a wardrobe full of clothes a size too small Hmm

Also, well done for getting the kids into bed in the daytime. Another thing I never managed to get to grips with. Dd would just scream until I got her up again.

KurriKurri · 17/03/2011 14:43

I too think the GP may well be able to give you some idea Sally. That appointment is the goal to focus on at the moment, then you will have a bit more information and that's always good.

I know it's horrible not knowing and waiting, can you have some music or the radio/TV on quietly while the girls are asleep - I'm just trying to think of things that will distract you a bit - I tend to start over-thinking when it's too quiet.

One of the nurses treating me told me to 'deal with what you know and don't think about the don't knows', I know it's hard but letting your mind think about every possibility is exhausting and leaves you wrung out.

So try to deal with each chunk at a bit at a time. Right now it's that you've found a lump and you're getting it checked very soon, so you are on the road to getting this problem sorted. You're taking charge and being proactive about your health - and that ability will always stand you in good stead Smile

How old are your little girls? - they sound gorgeous - and the singsong sounds fun Smile

Come on here for chat and distraction - I promise no more awful chair pictures Grin xx
