i feel so ashamed. she has loads of the little critters running about her head. i have got some lyclear to do her hair tomorrow afternoon after pre-school. i know i should do it before pre-school, but she'll just get re-infected, and after tomorrow she has 2 weeks till her next session. i'll phone the pre-school tomorrow afternoon to let them know i have 'found' them.

i only checked her hair about 2 weeks ago and she was clear. even dd3, who is 7months has to be treated, as well as dd1 and me. feel all yukky thinking about it.

Get the comb and conditioner out misdee!

A horrible but necessary evil!

misdee · 11/10/2005 21:50

she is fast asleep. i have just combed about 20 out with no conditioner on dry hair on her.

i know i sound horrible letting her go with she is infested with them, but she has picked them up from there, and ihave things to do in the morning which is the only time i can do them with just dd3. i will plait dd2 hair and hope she doesnt touch heads with anyone.

Don't take this the wrong way misdee but dd could give them to another child too!

Sorry posts crossed about plaiting hair. That should be fine then

misdee · 11/10/2005 21:53

i know blossomhill, but its just one 2.5hour session and tbh she isnt the most 'socialable' child there, and is likely to run away if anyone comes near her. and then i will have 2 weeks to get her clear and for pre-school to notify. its my only morning with one baby and i need to go to the bank and get a few bits in town which is impossible to do with dd2 in tow.

oh and does teat ree really help them not get re-infected? i bought some detangling spray with tea tree in.

I admit I sent my DS a couple of weeks ago after discovering he had headlice ten minutes before walking out the door, I then phoned the school a couple of hours later and told them I had just found head lice in DTs hair, and ds may have them too, that way they had letters ready for all parents by home time, and DS did'nt have to miss a day of school.

misdee · 11/10/2005 21:56

happymumof2, its will only be for the morning, she is totally zonked out now, and i have been running around like a blue arsed fly all day, i cant be up all night combing.

The thing is though if everyone did that then how on earth are we ever going to stop them iykwim

Please don't be offended, it's just my own personal view.

waterfalls · 11/10/2005 21:59

There wont ever be an end to them, some children get them time and time again, how will they learn anything if they have to take a day off every time?

misdee · 11/10/2005 22:00

if i hadnt found them today, then i would stil lbe sending her in tomorrow wouldnt i? she went in yesterday when she obviously had them.

Misdee, a friend of mine's dd gets them all the time and she swears by just tea-tree shampoo/conditioner every night.

misdee · 11/10/2005 22:02

i will be informing the pre-school, so they can get letters out to other parents, i will be treatiung my whole family and also informing peter at the hospital, and also my parents know and i'll be calling my sisters with their kids to let them know. someone at that pre-school apart from my dd2 has them, tbh if my parents hadnt leant me the cash to get the lyclear today it would have to wait till tomorrow anyway.

Can you get het up a bit earlier tomorrow and comb her through with conditioner?

That way you will get all the ones that are big enough to be transfered to another head and you can send her into school knowing she isn't going to pass them on. It takes me about 20 minutes to comb though dd and she has quite long hair.

Aero · 11/10/2005 22:08

Misdee, if you condition and comb through her hair in the morning before pre-school and remove as many live lice as you can, that would be the best thing. She can't pass it on if there are no live lice, even if there are still eggs. Tbh, I'd be surprised if they would admit her knowing she had headlice, but if you tell them she's been treated and you've removed the live lice, it should be ok. By saying 'treated', I mean conditioned and combed.

misdee · 11/10/2005 22:09

oh fgs, i wishi hadnt checked her hair now, and inknowingly infect people with the littlecritters.

how about if i do a comb and condition early in the morning? then blast the rest in the afternoon? she usually gets me up at 6am, so can try and do her then, then plait it tightly.

rummum · 11/10/2005 22:10

It may not be a good idea to confess about her head lice... the staff will probably advoid her like the plague
and your ears will probably be burning all morning....

good advice about getting her up early.. it shouldn't take that long to delouse her.....

LadySherlockofLGJ · 11/10/2005 22:10

Martian

Are you aware of Misdees situation??

In that case you will know that she is on her knees already.

If not all you need to know that she is on her knees.

3 very young children and a husband at Harefield waiting for a transplant.

Blossomhill · 11/10/2005 22:11

Well that's sorted then
