i feel so ashamed. she has loads of the little critters running about her head. i have got some lyclear to do her hair tomorrow afternoon after pre-school. i know i should do it before pre-school, but she'll just get re-infected, and after tomorrow she has 2 weeks till her next session. i'll phone the pre-school tomorrow afternoon to let them know i have 'found' them.

i only checked her hair about 2 weeks ago and she was clear. even dd3, who is 7months has to be treated, as well as dd1 and me. feel all yukky thinking about it.

One tip with boys is hair gel. Since ds had hair gel on he didn't get them.

Our letter is deep blue, and is known amongst the Mummies, as the "NIT NOTE" or the "LICE LETTER"

LadySherlockofLGJ · 11/10/2005 22:31

QE

A classic.

frannykenstein · 11/10/2005 22:33

The other thing you could try is oiling her hair before you plait it - the lice can't move around much in the oil and it should stop her infecting others. This is a rotten thing for you to have to deal with, but obviously you will want to stop another family from going through this as well. Keeping her hair tied back tightly, and if possible oiled will help to stop any remaining lice spreading.

i will have to comb through her hair in the morning. it will take a little while.

Hope the days goes well.

Horrible little things!

Lyclear is crap Misdee. I would do the combing through thing and if you want to use a treatment use Suleo m or something that has less resistance. They positively thrive on a bit of lyclear.....did a course on it once.

Alternatviely, here on French tv, they had a public health man saying that altho head lice are anaerobic (they shut off under water, for example, rather than drown) grease and oil clogs up their lungs so dowsing a child's head in vaseline or olive oil with a dash of tea tree overnight will do wonders, repeated again twice at three daily intervals, and just washed out in the morning.

I know you have a lot on your plate at the moment. Bloody headlice. Send them over to Sparky's neighbours

spooklymieow · 12/10/2005 23:08

lol!! I think we should bag all the lice and post them to my neighbours in prison!!, oh hang on, they are skinheads so they won't be affected

misdee · 12/10/2005 23:10

cant use the stronger stuff without perscription due to dd1 asthma.
