i feel so ashamed. she has loads of the little critters running about her head. i have got some lyclear to do her hair tomorrow afternoon after pre-school. i know i should do it before pre-school, but she'll just get re-infected, and after tomorrow she has 2 weeks till her next session. i'll phone the pre-school tomorrow afternoon to let them know i have 'found' them.

i only checked her hair about 2 weeks ago and she was clear. even dd3, who is 7months has to be treated, as well as dd1 and me. feel all yukky thinking about it.

so a comb through tomorrow morning will suffice till the afternoon? do i tell pre-school after the session, ie phone up in the afternoon and exclaim 'oh i have just found some lice on lauren, can you please inform the other parents'.

Blandmum · 11/10/2005 22:21

Sorry, my old name!

Blossomhill · 11/10/2005 22:21

We all love misdee. It's the nits were not too keen on

Aero · 11/10/2005 22:21

Oh - yes agree misdee - worms are much worse. Rather deal with headlice anyday!

Blossomhill · 11/10/2005 22:22

Misdee - I would phone and at least then you'll know that hopefully parents will check through and then she won't be re-infected when she gets back after half term.

misdee · 11/10/2005 22:22

i hate nits, the last time we had them dd2 was only 4-6weeks old. and she had as miuch hair as dd3 has now.

Aero - at least with worms one tablet and they are all gone!

ScreamEagle · 11/10/2005 22:23

All the talk of headlice made me itchy at the start of this thread.

Now, my *rse is itching too thanks to you lot!

Aero · 11/10/2005 22:23

Personally, if you've combed the live ones out, I'd tell them in the afternoon.

Blandmum · 11/10/2005 22:23

Misdee if you wet her hair tomorrow morning and comb it through (conditioner makes is easier) That is all you need. Fullstop. You don't need the lyclear in the afternoon.

You need to comb her through every 2/3 days until she is fully clear (you comb out the critters as they hatch before they are old enough to lay eggs themselves). This takes about 2 weeks.

The lyclear may well not work anyways as so many lice are resistant

misdee · 11/10/2005 22:23

blossomhill, i have a holiday a week before half term ,so the pre-school hyad all of next week to get the letters out, and apremts have the half twerm break to get things sorted, hopefully. tho i can almost betthat within a few weeks she'll be re-infected.

I know I am sitting here scratching my head too.

Blandmum · 11/10/2005 22:24

But fully realise you have better things to do with your time

LadySherlockofLGJ · 11/10/2005 22:24

LOL Queen Eagle

DH may go off you now.................he is in love with you since the cat and football thread

Aero · 11/10/2005 22:24

True BH, but the cleaning regime which follows in order to make sure there are no microscopic eggs left anywhere in the house is a total PITA!

Blossomhill · 11/10/2005 22:25

Yes true. I remember when dd and pratically the whole class got worms. Apparently they were getting infected from the sand pit

dolally · 11/10/2005 22:25

misdee, know that you have millions of other probs at the mo. God these headlice are a pain. Don't knoe what to suggest, I have all three with them at the mo, WITHOUT a dh in hospital.

rummum · 11/10/2005 22:26

do they really send letters out???
mine just put a notice on the white board
No naming and shaming though

misdee · 11/10/2005 22:27

i'm worried in case peter has them now. was atthe hospital this morning and he lifted dd2 up for a massive cuddle.

Bring back Nitty Nora I say!

Aero · 11/10/2005 22:28

They're just gross! Bleugh!
HMB - am sooooooooo with you on the combing thing! We've had no problems with nits since we abandoned the lotions. Just a bit of vigilance required to spot them quickly before they have a chance to lay eggs!

misdee · 11/10/2005 22:28

we get a standard undated lettersimply saying there is headlice in the class, please check.

Aero · 11/10/2005 22:28
