lots of good thoughts whisking your way limejelly !

Cakesandale · 13/01/2011 09:17

Good thoughts from here too LJ.

I am LOVING the idea of a techie weighing the boob. What a job! Grin

I can't think of any food that looks like boobs, but will definitely have a go. I think a wake is a grand idea, and making Erica the guest of honour is inspired.

I will have a think about the food - and games too. And congrats on booking a lovely holiday. Sunshine sounds very appealing about now.

SparkleRainbow · 13/01/2011 10:03

Oh Kurri how are you going to explain away that history on your pc!

What a fantastic idea, I love guess the weight on the boob idea, and I think pink blancmange is a necessity!

Good luck LJ, I know you won't read this as you must be on your way to the hospital by now, but I am sending all the best thoughts.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 10:37

now you've got me wanting some blancmange !!

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 13/01/2011 10:52

Blancmange? oh no MAS I have never been able to face it. That is just horrible. Yuk. Now jelly, that's a different matter.

smee · 13/01/2011 11:55

LJ must be there by now. Do hope they don't keep her waiting too long.

Thanks for ideas - keep them coming if you have any. I wouldn't know how to make a blancmange, but am now seeing it as a challenge that must be won.. Grin

Better go, am supposed to be working. Hope everyone's having a good day. Cakes aren't you with Onc today? Wishing you positive, reassuring consult. Am sure it will be. Smile

KurriKurri · 13/01/2011 12:06

Loads of good thought for LJ - I know you will have already left (I got up late Blush) but they will still reach you Smile.

I meant to say the holiday sounds great Smee - you deserve a lovely break.

Sparkle I have readjusted my history setting so it clears each day Grin

Not a great fan of blancmange here (I was forced to each too much at school) But you can make a sort of milk jelly thing by whisking half a can of evaporated milk into a jelly - sounds foul but actually quite nice - we call it bogus mousse Grin

I madly cut my own hair last night and it is very short. (I got fed up of it being so thick, and I think my mind was disturbed by the sickness bug - that's my excuse anyway.) I started a thread on chat about it and was roundly mocked Grin Oh well it will grow I suppose.

Has anyone read 'The Slap'? - I got it for Christmas, but I wasn't terribly impressed, maybe I missed the point of it, but I didn't like any of the characters in it.

Cakesandale · 13/01/2011 13:05

I am at the onc's later - thanks for good wishes Smile Same to you for tomorrow, smee.

Never heard of The Slap (though I can think of many people who need one Grin ) but.... YOU CUT YOUR OWN HAIR? WHYYYYY???

KurriKurri · 13/01/2011 13:12

Who know Cakes?, it was a mad impulse - my hair was so thick it was getting on my nerves, so I thought I'd thin it out a bit, then I cut a bit and had to keep cutting to try and make it look OK, Hmm If anyone's thinking of doing it - I'd advise against it Grin.

Good luck at the onc. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 13:25

good luck at onc's Cakes and smee - are you there tomorrow ?
I sometimes hack at my hair- always a bad idea !!
Options meeting this evening at school to hear about this English baccalaureat and whatnot. I've noticed that there is Horse Care and Home Cooking available...

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 13/01/2011 13:33

A GCSE in horse care.....well that says alot for our education system doesn't it.

Cakes - put the scissors down and step away from them Grin I hope you have managed to make it look ok. I let my dh cut mine because I can never get to the hairdressers....brave or what!

Oooo I have a huge line of professionals who need a good slap, perhaps I should send them a copy of the book as a big hint! Grin

Good lucks cakes, and you for tomorrow smee! Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 13:46

actually-don't think it's a GCSE to be fair !

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 13/01/2011 13:56

English Baccalaureat sounds mighty impressive though...

KurriKurri · 13/01/2011 14:09

It does sound impressive - is it one of those things where you have to pass all the subjects to get the qualification? (sounds difficult if so) - will all children do it? (sorry I don't keep up much with education changes now mine are no longer school age)

SparkleRainbow · 13/01/2011 15:08

Well I was being a bit cheeky Grin

I am in education, well I was, and I am not sure how this new English Baccalaureat works either, which is frankly a bit poor on my part. The baccalaureat used to be GCSE equivalent and was used in english and european schools for access to English universities....but how life changes I think it means somethings else entirely now.

smee · 13/01/2011 15:09

English Baccalaureat; said on news last night, you have to pass GSCE to C or above in Maths, English, Science, a foreign language and history or geography to get it. Strangely no mention of horse care, though wouldn't it be amusing if there was. Smile

Kurri, haven't read 'The Slap' - isn't that the one set in Australia? If so, seem to remember mixed reviews, so maybe it's a marmite type of book. Have noted down your bogus moose recipe. Will see if I can make it flesh coloured. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 15:13

it's a bit tricky really as it means you must get between and A-C grade in English,Maths, science, a modern foreign language and either history or geography,or both. The core curriculum includes English, maths, science,PE,RS and ICT. Ds has to make 4 choices - so far it's music, geog and history so if he wanted the English Bac he'd have to pick a language.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 15:14

flesh coloured milk jelly - eewww

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 13/01/2011 15:30

Use a peach or orange jelly Smee make it with less water than usual (if you use about half the amount it will set firmer) let it cool then whisk in the evap. (half a baked bean sized can). Actually if you were feeling really brilliant you could make a little bit of red jelly let that set then pour the mousse stuff on top - voila instant boob Grin

Yes the Slap is the Australian one. It does seem to be a bit marmite, not my thing though (so much explicitly described sex it got very tedious - I'm not prudish about it, it just got very boring because he describes it all the same way)

Good luck for the oncologist tomorrow Smile

Hope everything went well for Cakes if she's home.

I wonder if LJ has had her op yet - hopefully she won't have to wait around too long getting hungry and thirsty.

The Bacc sounds complicated MAS, although the choices sound a bit like the ones my Dc had to make (in their school the children had to do a certain set of core subjects and then choose 2 others I think) but they didn't have to pass them all - that bit sounds tough. And they have to start deciding so young don't they?

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 15:54

it's all a bit of a headache I must admit...and yes,13 is very young to decide imp[ortant things that will affect your future. At school we just did O levels in most subjects (you had to choose between Home ec and Physics/Chem.) it was all very straightforward.
Will anyone want to actually eat these bosoms ?
My great aunt used to make a pink pudding we called Baby's Bottom -was probably just condensed milk and jelly, but it was lovely actually.

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 13/01/2011 16:30

Woohoo, quite proud of that fact that I would have got and English Bacc with my results then. My secondary school insisted on Eng lit and lang, maths, a science, a humanties (either geog or hist) a language and an art. No flexibility there. Interesting how educational trends come back round again some 25 years later.

MAS - someone will want to eat the blanc bosoms, and that is a sentence I never thought I would ever say Grin Love the baby's bottom dessert.

Thinking of LJ and cakes, how are you bearing up for tomorrow smee?

I had a phonecall from the hospital to go through medical history to make sure I am safe to operate on, better than having to go in I guess.

KurriKurri · 13/01/2011 16:52

Oh that's good Sparkle if it saves the trip in for a pre-op.Smile

SparkleRainbow · 13/01/2011 16:53

That's what I thought, especially as ds has been off school today, we managed to dislocate his neck vertebrae last night whilst doing his physio Blush

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 17:41

yikes- poor ds Shock

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 13/01/2011 17:42

I would have got the English Bac except for my appalling maths
