Just bumping again - we have gone rather quiet! Hoping you are home, and not too uncomfortable Cakes, and that everything went well. - Gobble those pain killers, and take it easy - feet up, DVD's and treats Smile

Well done on the eyebrows Smee - very brave! Pleased to hear the horse pills have helped Smile

SR - don't think I'd have been able to resist the ice cream either - it sounded yummy!

More present wrapping going on here MAS, -(have to keep having little breaks because it's quite dull)

Hope you are well today Sparkles - and have not come down with the bug. And hope the children are feeling better now Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/12/2010 10:59

it is boring, wrapping, plus I am very bad at it- too impatient. Do hope everyone is ok,especially Cakes.

Helloooo, am back!

All went fine, thanks. Felt a bit rubbish yesterday but not too bad today. I was definitely one of the first up, and was home by 12.30. I overdid the sickness tales and got plenty of meds, but still feel a little like I might go today. Took loads of Gaviscon as I had to go to dd's school play first thing this morning and didn't want to steal the show by gushing all over the place....

I must say I am glad I got dd's ears pierced now - she can get my earrings in for me because I can't reach myself, and dh finds it a bit toe curling.

I must say I am a bit Angry at the nurse getting mad with SR about being sick. What can you do? Reminds me of a horror tale I read on here about an MN-er in childbirth - the midwife called her a dirty girl because she wet herself, IIRC. Sad

Hooray for chic eyebrows smee, and for all the gift wrapping that is going on here, so industrious. I really must get started.

Hope Mum gets less stiff soon, MAS - and glad the carol concert was lovely. They always get you more in the mood.

Have a good day all, I am going to do a bit of work and then recline on cushions.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/12/2010 12:08

hooray that you're back and ok Cakes- take it easy though- not too much work I hope. Casn't believe that awful childbirth story - dear God !
Mum still not able to do much - but quite cheerful and sitting on her sofa. Must be brave and go to Sainsbury's soon.

OP posts:
ItsKurriiiistmas · 15/12/2010 12:34

Hooray you're back Cakes - I'm glad everything went well - and great being first up, - nice to get home as soon as you can Smile well done for getting to DD's play - She will have been chuffed you were able to make it.

Don't do too much - remember it takes a good few days to get the GA out of your system.

I'm glad your mum is a bit more cheerful today MAS.
I've just managed to get my parcels wrapped (PO shuts at 1 O'clock today, so need to nip out and post them).

My internet has been off for about an hour for some reason. Weather perhaps?

smee · 15/12/2010 13:16

Yeay for Cakes, but why are you working? You need to recuperate woman, so get thee to the sofa until DD's back, as doubtless she won't let you stay there.

mmm to ice cream, SR. Am surprised it lasted as long as it has. Here I'm manically baking Christmas Tree biscuits for school fair tomorrow. We were going to do them after school, but forgot have invited someone round, and another friend is staying tonight. I brought Smarties to decorate and foolishly opened them, so the trees might be threadbare. Xmas Wink

Hope your mum's mending still, MAS and feeling a little bit easier today. Hope all others well too. Sparkle, are you still running a MASH camp? Really hope not.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/12/2010 17:16

the curse of the self-employed !
Mum still confined to her room, but hooray-stairlift being fitted on wednesday !!!

OP posts:
ItsKurriiiistmas · 15/12/2010 18:28

Good news about the stair lift MAS.

Apparently my Dad came back from the day centre yesterday laden with gifts. He had won a raffle prize, won the bingo twice and was given a plate of home made mince pies and a Christmas present from the staff Smile Mum said he was a bit puzzled about why he had so many presents, bless him Grin

I have just ordered an electric throw for DD's birthday - it looked so cosy I couldn't resist, - hopefully it will keep her warm in snowy Sheffield!

Smee - you have made me crave Smarties now (especially the orange ones)Grin

sandripples · 15/12/2010 20:13

Hooray for Cakes recovering so well!

Hoping everyone has got parents, parcels and off-spring under control.

smee · 15/12/2010 21:31

I just noticed I said 'brought', when obviously it should be 'bought'. Must be more addled than I thought.. (strange rhyme going on emoticon)

DS hasn't found the stash of smarties yet, but Kurri, the orange ones are all mine. Xmas Grin

Cakes, hope you're feeling okay tonight. Is it painful, you haven't said? Ditch the stoicism and fess up.

Cakesandale · 16/12/2010 10:20

Hi all. Orange Smarties - fight you (one handed) for them!

Glad the stairlift is going in MAS! Wasn't Margaret M fab last night? Grin

It does hurt a bit, to be truthful. But not too bad. And it keeps bleeding inside the dressing. Just trying to decide whether to get the GP to re-dress or not. I think this has been made worse as I have just had to crawl around under the desk trying to find out which cable is responsible for what under the desks. There are loads, and one has been malfunctioning - trying to discover which is the culprit has been a struggle to say the least. I think I've done it now, as we seem to be working again. Although, God knows, IT is NOT my forte.

smee · 16/12/2010 11:04

Fight cancelled. Me and friend who stayed last night scoffed the lot. Xmas Grin

Cable thing's not good timing, Cakes. Am guessing scrabbling under desks must play havoc with your back too, Cakes?? Glad the arm's not too bad though. Maybe get dressing changed before the weekend? Would that be sensible.

SparkleRainbow · 16/12/2010 11:18

MAS hope you are ok today, I am thinking of you. I don't know if you will be able to get to the funeral, but you can always light a candle at home. Hope that stair lift is in and working too.

Smee - well done for braving the salon for your eyebrows.....has dh noticed yet?

Cakes - how are you doing? I am not sure that climbing under desks is a good thing to do for any reason! Hope the nausea has passed.

M.A.S.H is a little smaller now, just dd1 left feeling poorly. DS went back to school today, dd2 is running around causing havoc. Two friends came out to see me for a cuppa yesterday, so although I have cabin fever it is not as bad as it could be. Took the opportunity of taking ds to school to be able to help out with an extra practice for school choir I run with two friends. Still have heard nothing from the hospital, I haven'tbeen able to make and appointment to see the gp, as stuck with the dc. Not sure what to do for the best, whether to ring gp and ask him to chase. Do they have to grow a culture or just look at cells under a microscope? Not sure whther just over a week is long enough for them to have results.

ItsKurriiiistmas · 16/12/2010 11:22

NO Smarties left???? I'll have to buy some Grin

Cakes - for God's sake woman stop crawling about under the furniture and get some rest!

Have the hospital given you a supply of fresh dressings? I would ask about the bleeding, just to check.

Hope everyone is feeling well today - Are you OK Sparkles? and the DC?

I've got a major timetable clash after Christmas. On the 5th of Jan. Its my DS's birthday - so had planned to go over to where he lives (about an hour away) and give him his gifts, have coffee and cake etc., Old friend that we don't see often because he lives in Liverpool is coming down that day and wants to take us out for a meal in the evening. - he can't change the day, he's coming down for a meeting in the day.
Today I have just had an invitation to lunch from another group of friends, on the same day. I'd like to go, but not sure even I can manage two 3 course meals in a day!
I think I'm going to have to decline the last one, but its a shame because I'd really like to go.

Oh dear - invitations are like buses - nothing for ages, then 3 come along at once Grin

SparkleRainbow · 16/12/2010 11:34

Too true, I have been invited out to a girly xmas drinks and nibbles evening, but can't go because no baby sitting service available - dh is taking Beavers to panto at same time!

Doing much better here thank you Kurri. Feeling a little more positive about life. Just not sure whther to cahse for results or not.

"Panic down" as my dd2 would say Xmas Grin I have plenty of smarties and chocolate buttons!

Cakesandale · 16/12/2010 11:39

That sounds familiar KK - it happens that way here, too. What a shame to have to miss any.

Sparkles, I think you could chase via the GP. They don't grow cultures, just examine the cells they have taken. Glad the MASH is scaling down and that dcs are on the mend.

I have made an appointment for this afternoon to see the GP about the bleeding and the dressing. I know it's all my fault. I have rested quite a bit, honestly, but I get bored and there is s much to do, always. I know you all know what it's like. Maybe while I'm out I'll top up on the orange Smarties as the last supply has all been eaten (well done, by the way, smee - it's well known that the orange ones need to be eaten while fresh).

I've made a rod for my own back though - have dinned it into dd that no-one other than her family will ever, ever pick her up from school unless she has been told about it first. Now I need someone else to collect her while I am at the GPs, I can't get any of her friends' Mums to do it because I know she won't happily go with them as she isn't pre-warned. I have had to ask my 79 year old mother to come 15 miles to do it instead, as dd will go along with that Blush. And have had to call the school to ask them to prepare her. Still, better safe than sorry.

SparkleRainbow · 16/12/2010 11:58

I am glad you are going to the gp cakes. I will try and rung up my gp's later to see if they know anything.

SparkleRainbow · 16/12/2010 13:00

I have rung the gp's, no results yet, they told me to expect it to be at least three weeks before they would get results from North Staffs Hospital, so I guess after xmas then. Ho Hum, will have to drink loads of alcohol over xmas to take my mind off it! Xmas Grin

Cakesandale · 16/12/2010 13:22

That's a shame but try not to worry. My guess is that, if urgency would make any difference, you would know sooner.

I agree alcohol, nice food and partying will be fortifying in the meantime - and therefore also guilt-free, which is a plus. Try not to fret. It's not like an infection in which time is absolutely of the essence. A little wait may be trying, but it won't affect the outcome if you do need surgery.

SparkleRainbow · 16/12/2010 15:03

Yep that is the right attitude to take, I shall attempt to jolly myself into christmas festivities with a large glass of wine in hand, and some chocolate buttons!

And yes it has started snowing again here.....big thick snow flakes which are settling alarmingly quickly.

SparkleRainbow · 16/12/2010 15:14

Bugger, bugger bugger.... I just got today's post in and I have been called for an emergency appointment at the breast clinic on Monday. Not good news I guess, as they said they would send me an appointment in Jan when I last saw the consultant before the tests. Well at least I will know before christmas what I am dealing with.

but still bugger bugger bugger..... (sorry for language)

ItsKurriiiistmas · 16/12/2010 15:40

Sparkles, it's scary I know, but you are right, it will be good to know what you are dealing with before Christmas, can you take anyone with you? - sometimes it's hard to take everything in, and remember you can always ring your breast care nurse any time if you want something explained, or have any questions you forget to ask at the appointment.

Try not to get too anxious, knowing what is going on is better than waiting and wondering, and you've been doing really well with dealing with it all so far. Smile xx

ItsKurriiiistmas · 16/12/2010 15:42

Oh and swear all you like - it always helps, I find. Smile

SparkleRainbow · 16/12/2010 15:49

Thank you, am going to go and spend some time being a mummy now.

smee · 16/12/2010 20:11

Ah Sparkle, that's a sod. But as Kurri says it's best to know, and it still could be good news. Being a mummy and eating smarties sounds like a good route to Monday, though I'd add several large glasses of medicinal cheer too. Am sending you a huge virtual hug x

Cakes did your DD accept Grandma then?? I do hope so. DS was like that until very recently, but something's switched and he's happy to go off with trusted parents of friends now. Makes life a whole lot easier. How was the appointment? Are you all newly bandaged and infection free?

Had school Christmas fair this afternoon. I was on raffle duty. Did quite well and DS won the biggest box of luxury chocs I have ever seen. He took quite some persuading to accept that they're not all for him. One quite feisty yr 6 girl demanded her 50p back as she didn't win anything. Obviously I said no, but I most definitely wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her when she grows up.

Fact for Kurri; orange smarties go very well with red wine. Xmas Grin

Waving to all others. Quite quiet on here today. RWU, are you out there somewhere. Been a while.
