I still have to have more blood tests done and change some medication but I have fibromyalgia. I am pretty upset though relieved that I have not imagined the symptoms. I guess a day of googling is in order to see how I can manage the symptoms.

I just don't know what to make of any of it. I have had these symptoms for about 3 years but just put it down to having young children and a busy life. Now it feels like if I am always going to be like this I don't know how I will manage. I know I am being pathetic at the moment but I just feel sad.

phipps You are not being pathetic, never think that. You are in constant agony and want some relief, nothing pathetic about that. I really feel for you. I feel so helpless when my DH feels that way too and your diagnosis is worse so I can only empathise a little with what you must be going through. I truely hope you find some management that works for you and maybe all our advise is only muddling you.

DBennett - despite your so called evidence, the Thera Cane does actually offer my DH vital respite from the pain which in my opinion is therefore an amazing piece of kit, science or no science! Each to their own pain management I say.

Take Care phipps! Smile

Thank you.

I am a bit confused about the tablets I am on. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with A* migraine and had to start on amitriptyline. I have to take them at night but then I am asleep so don't need pain relief Confused and then I have pain during the day Confused.

I was started on 10mg for 2 weeks and then 20mg until I next saw the doctor. This won't be until February and in the mean time my GP has put me up to 30mg. The consultant I saw today told me to go up to 40 or 50mg.

I do wake up shattered every day like I haven't slept much. By 2-3 pm I can barely keep my eyes open.

300mg?? Shock

DH has come home and said he thinks the symptoms sound more like fibro than hypothyroidism Confused.

foxinsocks · 15/10/2010 19:46

what symptoms do you have?

I have some undiagnosed inflammatory disorder that no f**ker can figure out grrr. Is not crippling but I would just like to know what the hell I'm getting every now and then.

Just had a bout of iritis too which was unpleasant but not sure if fibromyalgia sufferers get that.

phipps · 15/10/2010 19:50

Weight gain with no change in eating habits but increase in walking.
Cold all the time.
Pain in arms, wrists and hands.
Tired all the time and really have to fight to stay awake at times.
Vision problems mid afternoon.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 15/10/2010 19:54

who did your GP refer you to to get the diagnosis?

phipps · 15/10/2010 19:55

A neurologist.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 15/10/2010 19:57

ah ok. Thought you might say a rheumatologist. That's interesting that they sent you there.

I haven't quite got to the next step yet!

So did they do tests or do they diagnose fibro on symptoms (as it seems there is no test for it)?

He did some physical tests on me as well as listening to my symptoms.

LD - what do I do? GP and comnsultant think FM. Say thyroid is fine. I don't think it is. I know I can't live the rest of my life like this.

OP posts:
phipps · 15/10/2010 20:14

Just googled private thyroid test and got this.

my t4 went from 11.6 to 12.4 in less than 3 weeks. GP said it means nothing.
