Worried about breast clinic referral

I've just (today) been referred to a breast clinic for a sore breast - please tell me not to worry!

am hoping all was well

It was not as bad as I anticipated. The radiographer lady was fab. I just have to wait now. Either until 30th when I see the consultant or they will call me if my boobs dont match on the mammograms taken and they need more pics. Have been told that a phoecall asking me in for more pics does not neccessarily mean anything sinister but even so - am praying I dont get another call.

So now I just wait and pray.

Auntie Maggie - Have you had your appointment through yet? Am thinking of you. Hope you hear something really soon.

No appointment yet :( am hoping this means that GP was telling the truth when she said nothing to worry about rather than just making me feel better...

How are things with you? I hope you've been ok, in the circumstances. Did the GP give any idea how many weeks you'd have to wait? I really hope it's not too long.

My appt is for next Monday. I'm dreading it but sort of looking forward to getting an idea of what I might have to deal with, if that makes sense

How are you doing?

I was in a foul mood last night, have slept badly and don't feel much better today. Really annoyed cos a series of things have gone wrong this week including me putting on weight despite being really good and being turned down for a job. I just want some good news. I'm also sneezing a lot so I'm hoping its just hayfever and not a cold!

She said about 2 weeks - coincidentally I've now received the appt but its for the only day I can't make so have rearranged this morning for the 27th.

Sorry all doom and gloom in my world today - I could've done with just sleeping off my mood but got too much to do!

Thanks Mum72, just want to get it over with now, I hope the staff there are as nice as the ones where you went.

Auntie Maggie, no need to apologise, I feel the same. I'm trying to get loads of reading done before starting back at uni, but I can't concentrate..aargh!

Auntie Maggie - I can so appreciate where you are coming from. TBH - i think with all this waiting and it all hanging over us atm we are entitled to a few foul moods.

I had a really stupid dream last night about getting lost en route to my appointment and missing it. It has niggled away at me all day for some daft reason. Thankfully I was in college today - a very welcome distraction. Infact I was annoyed when we got let out 40 minutes early as I didnt want to come home and listen to the answerphone incase I had a message. I have now been fretting stupidly all evening about whether I will get a call tomorrow or not. The Radiographer did say towards the end of the week IF we need to call you. I feel sick about tomorrow. Have tried to spend this evening doing some extra research for college to keep my mind on other things.

Hey ho - just found a letter (I forgot about) asking me to book in for my smear too!! So am thinking will wait for my AF then had better make an appointment - the joys of being a woman eh??!!

I know - men don't have to put up with anywhere near as much stuff as us women do and have no idea about what its like!

I am so tired - not sleeping well at the moment.

DP is being good but I still want to smash his face in at times or at least shake him!

Auntie Maggie, How are you today? You're spot on btw about men not having a clue. Your DP sounds similar to DH. The not sleeping is crap as well, not that you need telling.

Sorry if my post sounds abrupt, I'm trying (not very hard tho') to do some more reading for uni. Lots of positive thoughts and a virtual bottle of wine to both of you :)

Well no phone call! So I am relieved but now wondering what Monday will bring or if there is a letter on its way - Gotta laugh, it so blummin stupid, never satisfied am I. I am just going to worry no matter what .

All in all its been a good day today. Was fully engrossed at college again today and think I may make a start on a piece of work (a little early) this weekend. It will keep my mind occupied and upto date as possible with my work for when I have to have the afternoon off for my appointment on the 30th.

Hope you both have a good weekend and that we all catch up on some sleep soon.

Thanks to you all for the support, I'm having a bit of a wobble today, and the support makes a big difference.

I've seen the consultant, and will have the mammogram on Weds. After that, they'll call me if there's a problem. Everyone was lovely at the hospital, they do their best to be reassuring.

Auntie Maggie - I had my hair done today too. Its helped cheer me up and put me in a better frame of mind!

DH took me out shopping this evening and I came home with 2 new winter coats because I couldn't decide which one! LOL. He is trying very hard to keep my spirits up bless him.

Still no news but its still over a week until I see the consultant. I am hoping not having heard anything means thats it until next Thursday now. I am feeling a lot better today in myself. Hope it lasts. Its just horrible that moment when my tummy turns over when I "remember" I have this bloody lump!!!

I have a friend coming over tomorrow, to plan our new excericise and weightloss regime now the kids are back at school which means we can get to the Gym and pool again. So what with that and then college for the rest of the week I am busy busy busy. Just hope that keeps me in the up mood rather than the down and worrying one.

The mammogram went ok; it looks like the lump is a cyst. They did an ultrasound to double check and found a slightly enlarged lymph node nearby, the radiographer is going to check with the consultant to see if I need to be recalled for that as well. She said she's not overly worried by it, but would still like to check it.

I hope you're both as ok as it's possible to be in the circumstances. I think I need to copy you both and have my hair done too, I'm starting to look scarecrow-like .

I know I've said it before but thanks for all the support, it's amazing what a difference it makes :)

I don't want to gatecrash your thread but I posted earlier today about finding a sore / lumpy type thing.
I have plucked up the courage to see my GP and my app is on friday.
Hoping it's nothing to worry about...

well that sounds positive AncientStarlight :) as my gp said to me about my other problem that they didn't know what it was but they know what cancer looks like and to take comfort in that (not that it helped at the time).

Have your hair done - I had it cut a fair bit shorter than I have for a while so really got the "wow I've had my hair done" feeling. It makes a difference for a few days and even inspired me to mak more of an effort with make up and clothes.

So what's the next step for you now?

That is brilliant news ancientstarlight! Hope all comes back ok about the swollen lymph node.

I have swollen lymph nodes - have had for 2 years now but have never had any explaination as to why. It will be something I will be asking my consultant next Thursday when I get to see him and hopefully get my mammogram results! 1 week to go and I am counting.
