And yay for no heartburn! You feeling ok Alice? Other than tired I guess.

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 11:58

Roast beef and trimmings here too, going to try my grandmas microwavable treacle sponge recipe for pudding too.

Coffee not working yet, but beans for lunch Grin

Mouseface · 08/08/2010 11:59

Grin at Bitter's tiny bird!!! That's why I never let the online picker choose my meat!! It's the one thing I insist we go and buy!!!

Learnt form that a long time ago!!

I was like 'how can that be a large chicken? It weighs less than a sparrow!'

Grin I'll same you some roast beef and send it to you, virtually of course!!

Yay for a new phone, I think we are due new phones too.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 08/08/2010 12:00

EnvyI guess this is payback for me rubbing your noses in it last week then.

OP posts:
BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 08/08/2010 12:04

Seriously, you should see this thing Mouse, it's miniscule.

First time I've had a problem, they usually send massive joints of meat because you pay by weight, so it makes sense for them to bung a massive joint in.

OP posts:
Mouseface · 08/08/2010 12:20

Complain. Call customer services and tell them you're Shock as you normally get a huge bird!

Can you actually complain?

TrillianAstra · 08/08/2010 12:38

Call and complain, definitely. Which supermarket was it? Did you specify a weight or a small/medium/large? Some of them have v good customer service. Say it has upset your Sunday lunch plans and you are not happy at all when you specifically asked for a large bird and 1.2kg (or whatever) is not even close to large. I have had refunds or vouchers before when I have complained about things from online shops.

I can't complain, I asked for a small chicken as they usually send the largest one that still qualifies as small, iykwim.

I will have to bulk it out with stuffing and pigs in blankets, no biggie.

And the customer service is shit, they are a bunch of idiots. (I should know, I work there Wink)

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 08/08/2010 12:55

Ah, that supermarket.

I once ordered 3 bottles of wine, 2 white 1 red, part of a 3 for £10 deal.

They sent the white but not the red as it had run out, I ended up paying more than £10 for fewer bottles of wine.

I emailed and complained, said carly I liked the white and it was on offer so why had they not sent 1 more bottle of the white? They refunded so that I paid £6.66 for my 2 bottles (same price as if the 3 for £10 had been applied).

I was quite pleased. This was the supermarket you work for.

Mouseface · 08/08/2010 12:59

Grin at Double melting into her settee!!!

Bitter - that's why I wondered if you 'could' complain!

Oh well, pigs in blankets sound bloody yummy!!!!!

Watching Mistresses, recorded, whilst dusting and mopping and sewing DD's torn trousers! Oh I love this programme!! I already know where it's going and it's episode 1!!! Grin

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 08/08/2010 13:03

Trills, this is the supermarket that subbed Pretzels with a box of Persil and a bag of lemons with citrus Shake n Vac, so your story doesn't surprise me.

I keep saying to DH I should order some Matey in the hope that they sub it with Moet! Grin

I love Pigs in blankets - especially cold the next day.

TrillianAstra · 08/08/2010 13:06

This was a good customer service story, they refunded me in a sensible way, you should definitely call and complain.

Yay for alone shopping Crispy!! How long are you camping for? And for what it's worth, I think you'll go very far with this business of yours.

You have so much passion and drive! Go you! xx

Double - sorry you feel shite still!

Trills - the same place that you had excellent service, gave me excellent service for their fuck ups too!

Mouseface · 08/08/2010 15:02

LIGHTer lovelies - what age did you start to read stories to your DCs at bedtime?

DS is still in a cot and 'delayed' by about 6 months. Bedtime is not really bedtime due to his additional requirements and the fact that he's hooked up to a feed from 8-8.30pm.

Now that there is no danger of me slurring my words to him, I'd like to read to him.......

What do you think?

Alicetheinvisible · 08/08/2010 15:32

Mouse - we read to DD almost from day one, i think it helped us bond a bit as was never really sure what to talk to her about and not really into the singing. Reading seemed like a good way to get her used to us iyswim? We don't always read bedtime stories now, but do read throughout the day. If she asks for a bedtime story then she gets one though.

I am really having a major panic about having a baby due tomorrow, there is just no way. DH is putting the crib up but it feels too early Confused

Thanks, we read during the day and he loves it!! He loves picture books and when I make silly noises or faces too. He's 15m so wondered if he'd 'get' bedtime stories.

DD was in a bed and walking at 12m so it was easier with her to snuggle on the bed and read to her.

Will give it a whirl!!

Alice - it's ok to feel like this, it's natural I guess. Kind of excited and worried and emotional and giddy and oh so tired, all at the same time!

He'll soon be here, you will be ready and you will all be fine. xx

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 08/08/2010 16:26

Hello all, back from shopping. Spent a small fortune on clothes for the DC.

Didn't get a phone as the guy wasn't very helpful. I think I will just phone up customer service and ask them to cancel my contract. Last time I did that they fell over themselves to get me the phone I wanted.

Mouse we did regular bedtime stories as soon as DS was in a bed, I think he was about 2?

DD sometimes gets in bed to listen too, but she is usually too tired.

More often that not DS reads to me now - he loves Roald Dahl and the Narnia books - I just help him with the long words.

Alice, don't panic - I am very Envy about a gorgeous squidgy new baby.

Oh forgot to say - I went into Boots to get some protect and perfect serum. I had a gift card in my wallet that I thought had a couple of quid left on it. Turns out it had £20! Woo-hoo, free anti ageing stuff! Grin

OP posts:
Mouseface · 08/08/2010 16:33

Not that you need it eh Bitter? Wink

Yep, cancel your contract and you'll have the world thrown at your feet!!

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 08/08/2010 16:36

Let's just say without it I would look even more haggard! Grin

Will phone in the week. They have some really good staff deals on at work for the iphone - less line rental than I pay now.

OP posts:
Mouseface · 08/08/2010 16:41

Ooooo - go for it!! A jazzy new iphone!! Envy
