in case we forget and find ourselves at 1000 - here's a fresh new thread !

OP posts:
sandripples · 17/07/2010 16:21

Thanks MAS - what would we do without you!

The sea swimming sounds really wonderful - oh, envy. However I am so pleased with my picc line that its worth waiting, in my case. I feel so happy that Lenny has saved me 6 lots of needles already.

at boob float.

Funnily enough I have been pondering on tattoo eyebrows as mine are alos thin and although they're making a return I do think they might need a boost. Was thinking could ask tattooist to do a little - balanced on each side for a review before going further!

My SEs are not bad thank-you. I had a restful day yesterday and sat in a chair most of the time. Didn't sleep well due to steroids but as I know the reason I manage not to get worked up about it. Just tell myslef I'm comfy warm, resting and will be OK in a night or two. Today have done brief shopping with DS (the decisive quick shopper so easy) and will now try a little walk with DH. We're invited out for supper tonight.

Boob peeking slightly post-rads but definitely improving.

DHJ and I are planning a few days away in North Wales for later this month so looking forward to that. Hope weather improves tho.

sandripples · 17/07/2010 16:22

Aha, peeking should read peeling!!

cupcaked · 17/07/2010 19:41

Attagirl MAS, would we be at 4000 with out you?

SR, glad you're surviving and good on ya for accepting supper invite day after chemo, I X out the 3 days after chemo now, might well be 4 from now on, so tired today, had Aussie visitors for lunch which would not normally take a fizz out of me, and all i did really was open packets form M+S and slice bread! The steroids really messed up my sleeping so I stopped them on cycle 2 (after talking to onc) and don't miss them at all, as long as I take the Zofran / odansetron.

Smee, yes please, could you find out name of Harrod's eyebrow woman? I have been looking into it. It is not tattooing but micropigmentation (whatever that is). It lasts a year or 2 so mustn't be same as tattoo. I know of people who have had it done and apparently it is brilliant, but am so scared of going to some kack-handed novice, I look weird enough as it is! I live in N Ireland but am going to London for a day on Tuesday week, so if there was someone with experience in Harrod's, I would jump at it. Found woman on Harley St with lots of experience, am sure she is brill, but platinum prices, arm and a leg...

If I go for it, will post back here and let you know, MAS. Am going to be godmother next weekend and in lots of photos but pencil will have to do for then... Told his mum didn't want to be Scarey Godmother

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/07/2010 20:19

ooh yes, would be interested to know about Harrods woman & price ! I've managed with eyebrow pencil for ages but it'd be nice to have brows after removing make up !

And ps at the boob peeking after rads, new side effect I hadn't heard of!

Ah brill, a fresh new thread, thanks MAS.

It is me with the weird toilet dream, yes

Glad you are all feeling reasonable - cupcaked, it does take longer to feel OK as you go through, you just get so tired, but not long now.

Semi permanenet brows sound like a great (potentially) idea, but quite brave. In my experience the brows and lashes come back with a vengeance post chemo, so don't despair, though. I know why you mught want them - dd has a photo of me at a party about a week after the end of my chemo, so absolutely at the most bald: I absolutely hate the way my face looks but she won't get rid of it. About three weeks after the pic was taken, all the face hair was back big time.

at ds forgetting to buy coffee but bringing all the cash back. he was probably too embarrassed to push himself forward in that way, he is a sensitive boy, isn't he. And 13, which is enough of an explanation in itself.

SR - keep slapping on the aqueous!

Cakesandale · 18/07/2010 10:43

I have just been reading a magazine feature about the area around where RWU lives. All I can say is, Coventry doesn't compare!

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/07/2010 11:19

I always think of RWU when I see it on the weather map.
I think i'm going to have to send ds on little quests with his wallet - get him used to spending money, asking for stuff etc - he has no clue about the value of money, leaving birthday notes or cheques just scattered around - i blame the parents
I had another toilet-ish dream last night -I do rather think these dreams are connected to the counselling so that must be a good sign !
Hope everyone has a good day - am doing laundry and pottering.

Hi, well this is exciting if Cupcaked manages to get some eyebrows. I'm definitely interested and hope to be in London for a couple of days in August so could also get to Harrods!

I had a very nice evening out but then terrible indigestion during the night so spent a couple of hours reading as had to sit up. Hmm, must remember about smaller helpings. Think I got carried away as was feeling so well! It was just 4 of us which was lovely.

The area where RWU lives is indeed beautiful. We know it quite well due to SIL having holiday house in the area, and we hope to go there next week for a couple of days. We plan a little tour of North Wlaes and down to Borth for about 4 days as it'll be my good week. Very exciting as I haven't been anywhere for so long (since Feb in fact I have not been anywhere for a night - have been out and about a lot round here but a change of scenen will be good)

Taking elderly aunts out for lunch today - will stick to v. small helpings.

Its Nelson's Mandela's 92nd birthday today - Happy Birthday to that great man! And also to my SIL who had BC 3 years ago and is fine. She's 70 today. (Different SIL to the one with house in Wales)

Cakesandale · 18/07/2010 11:43

Hope you get to go away and have a lovely week, SR, it'll do you the power of good. Weekends away kept me sane-ish last year.

Keep the helpings smaller in the meantime.

MAS - dd is just the same - money and possessions have no value to her. I also blame the parents we have been trying to make her more laid back as she is such a stress head, and I fear we may be overdoing it.

We had a lovely evenng last night. DD foisted herself on my Mum for the night se we went for a curry, ate far too much and then lay on the sofa whimpering and watching a dvd of Amadeus, which is my fave film ever (probably). I ALWAYS cry.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/07/2010 13:00

happy birthday to SR's SIL and Nelson Mandela !!

both of you seem to have had nice evenings out, despite indigestion and too much curry ! We had some wine at mum's and lots of crisps then trotted back home where dh cooked chicken & spinach curry - nothing on telly so not too late to my bed.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 18/07/2010 19:08

fell asleep on the sofa with my book - hugely tired again.
I am going to brag about the one quince growing on our little tree- it got put in last year, survived the winter and has now produced this - so pleased !

Round of applause to MAS for starting no.5.

SR, pleased to hear you're not feeling too grim today, though am in total awe at your Zen-like attitude to insomnia. Must try to remember that when it's my turn. 'arf at 'boob peeking' - sounds like it's run a marathon or something. Which in a way I suppose it has.

Cupcaked, at Scary Godmother! Sounds like something to aspire to to me.

  • yes to all then on Harrods woman. I will find out some more, then get back to you asap. I haven't a clue what she does but remember being told she's the woman to go to. Mine are fading fast, so you can all trail blaze for me.

Where does RWU live then? We had year after year of holidays in North Wales when I was little. Have never been back, but keep saying we must. Your plans sound perfect SR. Great way to build health too I'd say.

We did next to nothing last night, but I ate too much too. DH is trying to build me up, so invented a fennel, feta, potato and beetroot salad. Was delicious, though my pee was bright red this morning. Terrifying for a nano-second until I remembered. He also poured Raspberry Beer down me - not for health, just for a treat. Can highly recommend.

Had a lovely morning baking then eating with friends/ neighbours, who have been brilliant at supporting through all this. One sadly has just had MS confirmed. Feel so sorry for her. I know what I'm going through isn't insignificant, but in a way feel lucky, as once I'm through this year, with a bit of luck I'll be in the clear. Am hoping her MS is slow onset, but it's too soon to tell.

Sunny here, so hard to be glum. More raspberry beer in the fridge. Might become an addiction.

reallywoundup · 18/07/2010 23:40

Ah-ha! A new thread, yey it fits on my iPhone now (yes latest gadget )
I live in Aberystwyth for whoever asked, and whilst beautiful we made the decision on Friday to move about an hour inland to Llanidloes where dh's family all reside. For many reasons but mainly because our new neighbours are knobheads and if I have to continue listening to arguments and his impression of bob the fucking builder I shall end up in prison for murder!
House hunting commenced!
Hope you are all well, I shall catch up properly in the morning x

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/07/2010 09:51

smee - don't think you meant me
hello RWU ! tell us when you're on rightmove so we can be stickybeaks and see your house !! Hope all is well, and love to everyone

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 19/07/2010 11:24

I think smee meant thread 5 NOT chemo 5, MAS!

Raspberry beer sounds gorgeous (puts on shopping list)

Hi RWU, what a shame to have to move because of tosser neighbours. Hope Llanidloes is just as nice (it sounds familiar and I may have been during the years when I travelled like a loon for work, but not sure).

It'll be a wrench to leave the sea, I should imagine. But useful to have family on tap hand.

smee · 19/07/2010 12:00

I was wondering what you meant MAS, but yes Cakes is right - I meant thread 5!

Boo to neighbours RWU, they sound horrendous. Moving sounds good though. Good to have you back.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/07/2010 12:08

doh !! I didn't think your mind was going smee !

OP posts:
smee · 19/07/2010 12:15

MAS would have been completely fine to think it though - am very these days.
Just had blood test results and the levels have zoomed back up. Means I can go ahead with chemo again this week; am so relieved.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/07/2010 12:23

that's good news, back on course then !

OP posts:
smee · 19/07/2010 12:36

Thanks MAS. Seems slightly insane to be so pleased, when I have days of icky SE to look forward to, but yes am celebrating!

sandripples · 19/07/2010 12:41

Yes, that's good Smee and I hope your energy feels much better. Mine is low today - possibly cos I was good yesterday about small helpings! I could hardly lift my arm up for its exercises today and they're so easy that's ridiculous. We took elderly aunts out for lunch - the main course was huge, so I had no pud (and had had very healthy asparagus for starter) then hardly any tea so maybe this morning I just needed more fuel. So have just tucked into prawn salad, brown bread, and raspberries - oh yes and a slice of banana bread that 'needed eating' . But I need to feel a bit perkier than I did this morning, so hope its OK.

RWU - ggod to read you. What a pain about those neighbours. But I hope you find a beautiful house in the new place.

Yuk, I'm on the chemo tablets for another 4 days, then hope to feel better for our grand holiday of four days in Wales. I will enjoy it if my energy pickes up and I feel less nauseous, but somehow I've got a load of stuff in the diary for this week that I could sort of do without, but they involve friends I don't want to let down.

Sunny here today so hope it is for you too.

reallywoundup · 19/07/2010 13:32

I've just watched my nephew on tv showing one of his cows at the royal welsh show! We are going tomorrow- getting VERY excited now!

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/07/2010 13:41
