I love the fact that we live in a democracy and I can vote Reform, as I liked their policies (although MSM has been shameful in their coverage of Reform - which has meant people won't read the policies but just listen to the hard leaning left media) and vote on that instead. Personally I think anyone, especially a woman, who votes Labour in 2024 needs their head examined, Labour - who can't say what a woman is, that's how idiotic that party is today. They won't protect women's safe spaces or sports.

I am in a very safe Conservative seat, it even stayed Conservative in 1997. I don't anticipate it changing tomorrow morning.

You like the prospect of losing human rights, including the right to equality as a woman? Good luck with that.

Have you been able to go to the polling station today and place your vote?

You have democracy, and no one on this thread has suggested that democracy should be stripped from anyone.

The dildo of consequences rarely arrives un-lubed, and the consequence of announcing that you vote for Reform is that you are - rightly or wrongly - jumping in bed with the racists and the xenophobes, and will be called out on that.

You're the only one who's mentioned gulags, as far as I can see, though.

Sorry but the dildo of consequences made me snort so loud I woke the baby. Never a truer word!
FWIW I tactically voted Lib Dem, anticipating a Labour (know a fair few people who have worked with Starmer and he’s a competent, intelligent bloke) but wouldn’t be averse to a Lib Dem gov - Ed Davey has been living his best life this campaign!

@MrsBennetsPoorNerves

Ahh the tolerant left wing...

Fully supporting democracy so long as it's for the left wing, anything else and you are a fascist, racists, white, uneducated etc etc and deserve to be sent off to a gulag.

Do you expect me to tolerate racism?

Tolerance of repugnant views is not a virtue, and it is not antidemocratic to call some things out as wrong.

Some on the far right seem to be under the misapprehension that democracy means that their views are worthy of respect. That isn't the case.

All that democracy means is that you're entitled to hold disgusting racist views and I won't try to stop you from voting for your shitty racist party.

Force of habit eh?

StormingNorman · 04/07/2024 18:57

Labour. I just couldn’t hold my nose a vote Tory and out of Labour and the Lib Dem’s, Labour was the tactical vote.

My area has never been anything but blue in the past 100+ years so I probably didn’t make any difference anyway.

Beefandwine · 04/07/2024 18:57

Reform aren't getting rid of the NHS, and if you read their policies you would know that. They want a French style system. The NHS will still be there free at the point of use for those who need it. The NHS is on its knees and needs an overhaul, its not fit for purpose and we all know it.

Reform want to support families, the revised tax thresholds would certainly help our family, as I am the only earner. They will provide that I can take his tax allowance. I currently earn too much at the moment. My DH has been ill-health retired and no we don't claim benefits. They want to scrap Net Zero - good, its a complete waste of money which will only make us poorer. They want to remove the trans agenda from schools. These are all things I support. So yes I voted Reform and I would do it again. I care about this country and its direction for mine and my children's future.

The two main parties don't deserve my vote.

Heatwavenotify · 04/07/2024 18:58

Vote for who you want. The joy of democracy. Ignore the, shout you down, name calling brigade because you don’t agree with them. Everyone gets a vote and all equally valid.

It was the same with brexit. It was the same covid. It’s been the same on here all day. Really disappointing. If voted today…well done, whatever your choice!

emilyelf · 04/07/2024 18:58

More reform than Tory's. I voted Lib Dem.

KittyMcKitty · 04/07/2024 18:59

DH and I both voted Labour. 2 x Uni student children both voted Green. If the polls are correct our long standing Tory MP (Jnr minister who campaigned for Brexit) will lose his seat.

viques · 04/07/2024 19:01

It was hard, I have a very good constituency MP, who has a huge majority so my vote is technically negligible. I emailed him to ask about his views, including about how he defines a single sex space. I said I would not vote against him, because I respect him as an MP and he has done a lot of good in the area for many years, but couldn’t vote for him if he couldn’t see how important being clear about safeguarding 50% of his electorate was as an issue. He didn’t get back to me, so I spoiled my ballot paper explaining why I was doing it. I didn’t like doing it but I needed to make my point and today this is the only way I could.

Party of Women (me)
Labour (DH)
Independent (ex Labour) DD2

Allmarbleslost · 04/07/2024 19:02

Labour

SnapdragonToadflax · 04/07/2024 19:03

Lib Dem tactically to unseat a fairly safe Tory seat (15k). She's not awful but I want the Tories out. Would ideally vote Labour, however I want to rejoin the EU so fine with Lib Dems too.

TribeofFfive · 04/07/2024 19:03

Lib Dem.

The best interaction I ever had with a politician was with their former joint leader, who was a cat.

Buttons0522 · 04/07/2024 19:06

I voted independent. The only candidate who is local to the area. Labour candidate lives in London and we are over 150 miles North. Lib Dem would probably have had my vote but he’s on the south coast! Shambles.
