Big names set to lose their seats (according to You Gov)

YouGov latest poll (3rd July) is saying that the following Cabinet Ministers look set to lose their seats:

To Lib Dems
Jeremy Hunt
Alex Chalke
Michelle Donelan
Gillian Keegan
Michael Tomlinson
Lucy Frazer

To Labour
Grant Shapps
Mark Harper
David T C Davies
Steve Baker
Johnny Mercer
Penny Mordaunt
Greg Hands
Esther McVey

Labour also likely to take out Boris' old seat, Iain Duncan Smith and Jacob Rees-Mogg. Liz Truss is a toss up between Con and Lab.

It'll be interesting to come back on Friday morning and see how many were right.

Tory seat total would also be a record low

Brilliant!

Champagnesocialismo · 03/07/2024 18:52

Well good. Though there are some others in the Cabinet who I would rather see go

CaveMum · 03/07/2024 19:30

Anyone in any of those seats? I’m in one of them (not saying which 😜) and it’s definitely a coin toss as to who will win.

Seaitoverthere · 03/07/2024 21:37

I was in one of them until we moved fairly recently and I’m not sure that will go the way predicted above though I hope it does.

Fossiliferous · 03/07/2024 21:38

I'm in one of them (and right next door to another). Tactical voting website says it's too close to call between Con and Lab as of today...

QueenOfHiraeth · 03/07/2024 21:41

I wonder if it won't be as bad as suggested though. The media and social media make it sound as though voting Tory or Reform is shameful so I wonder if there is quite a few hiding their true voting intentions

FOJN · 03/07/2024 21:41

Not going to lie but there are names on that list who, if the predictions are correct, will give me cause for celebration.

Rainbow1901 · 03/07/2024 21:49

There's been so much hype and hysteria over this election - that I can't help feeling that it will be business as usual next week irrespective of whose in power. It takes time for things to happen politically so don't be thinking that a magic wand will do do the trick.

LadyRoughDiamond · 03/07/2024 22:02

No Rees-Mogg? Booo! I was hoping he’d be our ‘Portillo’ moment.

Jason118 · 03/07/2024 22:05

The haunted pencil isn't a cabinet member, but he's toast.

BIossomtoes · 03/07/2024 22:09

No Mercer?

CaveMum · 03/07/2024 22:13

BIossomtoes · 03/07/2024 22:09

No Mercer?

Mercer is on the list. It’s split between those going Lib Dem and those going Labour.

I'm in one of those seats. It's been Tory forever, but I'm hopeful that it can turn this time. All the polls suggest it will. I loathe our incumbent so I'd be voting tactically if I had to, but it luckily my party is the one set to oust her. The Labour candidate does seem like a lovely guy and he actually bothered to come to both our door and our village several times, unlike the incumbent.

The demographics of the constituency have likely changed a lot in recent years. It's an expensive area so traditionally lots of rich rural folk who like the Conservatives. But new housing has been popping up all over so more young families who are more likely to vote Labour.

Apologies. I didn’t read it carefully enough.

PregnantWithHorrors · 03/07/2024 22:37

Mercer is absolutely fucked. Couldn't happen to a nicer person.

ronconcoke · 03/07/2024 22:40

Yes I'm in one of these seats and me and DH will be voting Lib-Dem to get them out. Fingers crossed because they've been there forever!

Georgieporgypud · 03/07/2024 22:54

My Tory mp is predicted to lose to labour. I really, really hope he does, he's a right arse.

AppleCream · 04/07/2024 03:44

I'm not in a "big name" constituency, but I am in one that has been Tory forever and is predicted to be very close this time. Fingers crossed!

MushMonster · 04/07/2024 05:45

The Big Day is here! I cannot believe it!
I am off to work early, but I will be celebrating with a proper afternoon tea today! I got the little cakes, scones and jam.
Finally, the UK citizens are choosing their Prime Minister.
I do have hopes for the outcome, but what I am celebrating is that it will be the voting age population to choose this time!

Hoppymclimpy · 04/07/2024 08:06

Off to vote now! Where I am is still Lab but only had a majority of less than 100 at last election so making sure that's hopefully a bit higher! I've got snacks and picky bits in to keep me going tonight.....really rather excited 🎊😄

Boomer55 · 04/07/2024 08:48

I’d like to see Braverman and Badenoch beaten.

HauntedPollingBooth · 04/07/2024 09:25

My DS' friend who lives with us 3 days a week for work reasons lives in Lucy Frazer's constituency. It's her first ever GE. She's done her duty and voted tactically.

CaveMum · 04/07/2024 22:00

I will try and remember to post updates on how it went for the above MPs.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 04/07/2024 22:03

I'm in one of those and it the Lib Dems don't win it is completely down to candidate choice.

I hope they don't win, but it should be candy from a baby. If Lib Dems lose it is down to arrogance

FatLarrysBanned · 04/07/2024 22:32

Mercer is my MP. Can't wait to see the back of him and his odious wife. At least the Labour candiate lives in our constituency - knows what a struggle it is to get a GP appointment, no NHS dentists, have a 22 hour wait at the A&E department and failing schools. Should be compulsory for all candidates to live in the constituency they are choosing to represent.
