If so, this is the election that just keeps on giving.

His refusal to stand down gave us Boris Johnson so it would be nothing less than he deserves.

I'm amazed by that one.

I'm delighted. Starmer's majority was significantly reduced in Camden too, due to Indie Andrew Feinstein. Hopefully made Starmer think going forward. Yes, Labour will win with a massive majority of seats. But, it's clear to me that this is an anti-Tory vote. Not, a pro-Labour vote.
I voted Green as a peaceful protest vote myself. Voted Labour in 2017 and 2019.

I'm delighted

Yes it's great. I didn't think they'd manage it.

Aussieland · 05/07/2024 04:25

Yay!!!! Very pleased for him and all his sensible constituents

TryingToSeeTheFunnySide · 05/07/2024 05:09

Funnily enough, I missed the live moment JC won his seat. I don't know how, as I'd been up most of the night mostly for that moment! I discovered a few minutes later. I must have made a cuppa at the wrong time or something?! C'est la vie. I can re-watch on YouTube.
I'm so upset Faiza Shaheen didn't win. But she did very well anyway. I guess you can't win 'em all...

Greens have also taken North Herefordshire. 👏🏻

Really???!!! That's amazing! I've stopped watching now. I'm currently house sitting, and a huge telly, so I was getting sensory overload! I mostly stayed up for JC's victory (which I then missed the moment of, either going to the loo, tending to the cats or making a cuppa! 🤣) so thank you for that bit of Green news 👍 Really fabulous news.
We need some decent left-wing voices in parliament to hold the not-very-left Labour Party, Reform, Tories and others to account.

Delighted for JC!! He’s an amazing MP, his constituents are very lucky. He knocks on doors, speaks to people and above all listens to them. I have very fond memories of him sitting in our living room chatting with my folks about local issues and then something actually getting done about it

hexsnidgett · 05/07/2024 06:00

Ha ha ha!

TryingToSeeTheFunnySide · 05/07/2024 06:11

I'm not one to gloat. But, I do hope the Labour right, and those who've persistently slandered and persecuted Jeremy Corbyn and the left, will have a bit of humility on the back of this result.
They actually are saying that Labour's vote share might be down from 2019, even though they're gaining so many seats.

😊

Begby6789 · 05/07/2024 06:29

Boo to the haters

WhiskersPete · 05/07/2024 06:46

Seems you heard wrong then. By 8000 votes. Ha!

Fkouncingflump · 05/07/2024 06:47

Yes! Brilliant Jeremy!

And here's the picture.....

Geri had 4 solo number one singles...

Willmafrockfit · 05/07/2024 06:56

Good for JC

littlestrawberryhat · 05/07/2024 07:12

So delighted for him. This news made my day and bought a tear to my eye. He’s just such a good egg. The world would be a better place if there were more like him in charge. I’m so pleased.

Yes, sad times. I did see him say that Starmer had won a landslide of seats but not a landslide of votes. Yes, Jeremy, and he's now prime minister, unlike you.

Gracious as ever.

Best news all night. Well done to JC!

SallyWD · 05/07/2024 07:18

So happy for him. He's such an advocate for his community.

Did very well in handing the seat to Iain Duncan Smith.

Father of the House

Pipsquiggle · 05/07/2024 07:31

So clearly JC is a great local MP which his constituents valued. Well done him.
Still does not take away that he was a rubbish leader with a poor record on Brexit, Russia and anti-Semitism

Begaydocrime94 · 05/07/2024 07:35

thrilled for jezza! He’s good as a community leader.

Corbyn won 32% of the vote in 2019. Hardly shabby.

PinkTeaForMe · 05/07/2024 07:48

This landslide victory for Labour has only won them 35% of the vote. That is 5% less than when Jeremy Corbyn lost in 2019. Just in case anyone is interested. This was the only result I waited for last night and over the moon for Jezza! A truly principled man
