If so, this is the election that just keeps on giving.

His refusal to stand down gave us Boris Johnson so it would be nothing less than he deserves.

I'm in Islington North. The ONLY canvasser at my front door was one for JC.

Apparently the polls are very close.

greglet · 04/07/2024 17:59

@FakeMiddleton i had Labour canvassers at mine (also Islington North)!

Your point was very clear. I disagree with it.

You are disagreeing with "putting 75 year olds into Gulag" which was definitely not the point I was making.

Anyways, relax. Jezza is safe - unless he pisses off one of his mad dictator mates.

Aye, that too! It’s all been such a mess the last few years! 🙄😕

Don't forget this, the man who got stuck on a zipwire

I’m hearing Jeremy Corbyn is going to lose his seat

@greglet - had another one ring the doorbell just now! Bugger off! Don't harangue me to go vote. It's fucking 7pm. It's quiet time. Leave me alone!

HauntedPencil · 04/07/2024 19:27

To be fair to him, he does care about his community and that can't be argued with.

He was also promoted well well above his ability. I don't actually think he was happy either, he's much better off as he is, giving out sound bites, knowing he'll never have to actually achieve anything and basking in the praise of plonkers like Owen Jones and doing rallies for his fans.

If he loses they'll spin it somehow!

If he loses they'll spin it somehow!

Well someone's got to win the argument.

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2024 20:13

They already had a go at making the poll saying he was losing into a positive.

Textbook Jones.

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2024 20:23

The problem with Corbyn is that he was too loyal to Labour, except for the bit where he launched a campaign against them.

How many times was it he voted against the whip?

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2024 20:45

He clearly should have been an independent all along.

How many times was it he voted against the whip?

According to Google, 428 times when Labour was in power.

Is this the new ' If it wasnt for the mainstream media we eould have won' because we are the only people eho can read and make their own decisions

HauntedBungalow · 04/07/2024 21:39

I think it would be a sad end to his career. I have conflicted feelings about Corbyn but I don't think he deserves this.

Exactly. Labour MP's are answerable to the electorate. Party members are a small group of self selecting people who are a tiny unrepresentative proportion of the population. Labour members under Corbyn were swelled by Momentum but also other agitators who wanted him as leader because they knew it would benefit the Tories having him there. Just as the Tories shouldn't have their blue rinse brigade of octogenarians choosing leaders, Labour should not have Labour members choosing leaders. The leader has to lead their party of MP's. If he can't engender any confidence in them, he shouldn't have been leader.

Yes, it was a huge error. People forgot, during those years, that the first job the Labour party has to do is get into Parliament. The broader left wing movement can do its thing elsewhere - shop stewards, trade unions, pressure groups, single issue campaigns etc - they all have different roles to play. But the job of the Parliamentary Labour Party is to secure and maintain power for Labour in the House of Commons.

I do hope so, Jeremy Corbyn is the main reason we left the EU. He didn’t state the Labour Party position. He personally wanted to leave the EU.

Edited

I mean I don't like the bloke, but this is a bit of a stretch
