If so, this is the election that just keeps on giving.

His refusal to stand down gave us Boris Johnson so it would be nothing less than he deserves.

I think it will be close. Jeremy has a lot of support in his electorate.

noblegiraffe · 03/07/2024 13:38

Corbyn had a majority of 26,000. He thought they were voting for him, it turns out a lot of them were voting for Labour. Polls put Labour ahead.

This poll from the constituency says it’s not close at all.

The labour Vote is divided.Tge Labour candidate should stand down!

noblegiraffe · 03/07/2024 15:37

Why on earth would the Labour candidate stand down when they are winning?

DramaLlamaBangBang · 03/07/2024 15:37

Why should the Labiur candidate stand down when 40% of constituents want to vote Labour? Given the opportunity to support Jeremy, 70% dont want to.

BocaChica · 03/07/2024 15:38

"i like corbyn"

and why shouldnt you ?

But ... he is old....its not exactly yesterday that he qualified for the pension.

Why does he insist on trying to block the next generation of M.P.s ?

How absurd, why should he give way to others when he still has a lot to offer?

He's one of the few politicians who have always shown integrity and been true to what he believes in. It's an absolute disgrace that he was sacked from the party in this left wing cleansing that left so many without a party they identify with. I wish he was in my constituency so I could vote for him.

@LaCerbiatta and yet I would say he divided the Labour party and Labour supporters, moving away from the centre which therefore made them unelectable.
I saw him as a debate team captain rather than a credible politcal leader. His apathy towards Brexit was a disgrace, as was his response towards Russia after the Salisbury chemical attacks........................and then there was the anti-semitism, which quite frankly was shameful.

Every political party need 'Jeremys' yet they need to stay firmly on the back benches, because, quite simply, they are marmite.

Fkouncingflump · 03/07/2024 16:27

I think he is brilliant. Still gutted he lost.

greglet · 03/07/2024 16:31

I’m in his constituency and will be voting Labour.

I agree completely with this! He’s a very big part of why we ended up with Boris ‘I’ve rubbed a balloon on my Hair’ Johnson!!

HRTQueen · 03/07/2024 16:40

Lets hope so will add to my celebrating on Friday

He is an agitator not a politician who can lead a party. Its unforgivable his petulant actions during the referendum (we all know he is and always was anti EU) and how the far left of the party with their blatant antisemitism was allowed to have such influence under his leadership

It was a shameful and embarrassing time for the Labour Party

Thankfully they are now electable again

Not Brexit?

Grandmasswagbag · 03/07/2024 16:50

I don't think it was ever seriously suggested that he would hold on to the seat as an independent. All the early analysis I heard said it was unlikely for him. It can happen but pretty rarely. I was sceptical as I think he's wildly popular in his constituency, but hey, looks the the experts were right! I'm sure if he were still for labour he'd win though.

The MRP poll is a model based on national voting intention data. The poll which has Corbyn losing was an actual poll of the constituents of North Islington, commissioned by Novara media who then had to desperately spin it as a positive result 😂

If Corbyn were still the leader, Labour would not be winning tomorrow.

Corbyn was always consistent in his beliefs and voting.
Whatever was the official line - on any subject - he opposed it.
