Ok maybe I'm being too simplistic, but wouldn't it be nice if once the results are all confirmed we can have a sensible conversation with each other about what happens next and how we move forwards together? All without the cries of "Up yours losers!" or "We're doomed!" 😜

Let's face it, all of us (yes even the politicians) want what is best for our families, friends and the country as a whole, we just have different opinions on how to go about achieving that.

I’m a Labour supporter. I think it’s fair to blame the tories for the state this country is in, PP. Its dreadful. However, unlike the Tories, I would only blame the previous incumbents for historic problems for the first term. After that I’d expect some changes. And some ownership of mistakes. Which is what the tories have been dire at. The best we can hope for for the next five years is a steadier ship I’m afraid.

Do you expect an incoming government to deny reality? Initially they’re perfectly entitled to say that. Hopefully they’ll soon have some achievements to show the country it made the right choice.

The final bits of polling seem to suggest that Reform will get around 3 seats (range is 0-7) so I don't think there's too much to worry about there. It would be delightful to see Nigel lose yet again, but I suspect he will win Clacton.

I wish you were right, I trully do, but I have lost any confidence on the politicians wanting the best for us and our families bit. I see them as amassing money for themselves and not being the tiniest bit bothered about what happens to the rest of us.

I like your optimism OP. I don't share it though. We are a very divided nation when it comes to political issues, as are many other countries.
